I grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and everyone said "Soda", then I moved to Minnesota and my first time out at a restaurant the waitress asked me if I wanted a "Pop"... I said no because I thought she was offering me a piece of candy for my child! LOL! :/ I've lived in MN for 12 years now, I still say soda. :)

Midwest here and it's pop in my neck of the woods. Though on vacation visiting relatives in Arkansas we always drove into town to get a Coke, and then ordered a Dr. Pepper, so I guess I have enough 'south' in my blood that that seems normal to me. Soda just sounds kind of...formal? Stuffy?

Then again, there's that whole history of soda fountains, isn't there? : )

We call it 'fizz' here, though my friend from Birmingham called it pop, which I found weirdly annoying.

    Neither.

It's probably most often called 'juice' here.

    Or just 'a drink'.

here (Glasgow) it's ginger. I lived in Birmingham for a while and everyone there called it pop. Soda is fizzy water - usually added to alcohol.

Blasphemers all of you. It's Coke. Always. Even if it's Pepsi.

I was at a grocery store up here and once said "pop". I literally wanted to kneel down, cross myself, and ask God's forgiveness for saying such a thing.

We lived in CA when I was young and we always called it soda or soda pop. In the midwest we call it pop and have called it pop for many years now. :) Just depends on where you live and what everyone calls it there. :)
