I'll let you know when I get my DNA results back from ancestry, but as far as I can tell, a lot of German, English, a dash of Irish, more recently discovered family from the Canary Islands, and 100% Cajun.

I'm a mutt. I'm mostly Irish, but also Dutch, American Indian, Irish, English, and perhaps African American and Scottish. I will only know for sure if I have my DNA examined. Being able to just check non-Latino/white makes things very simple. lol

Mainly European ancestry. Like from Germany, French, Irish, and English. Also a tiny little bit of Cheerokee in the mix.
Fun fact I've learned about my mother's side of the family, they've been in Florida tracing back to five/six generations.

Because different 'races' mixing makes interesting babies.

Because I'm biracial and like finding other biracials. It makes me feel more like part of a group.

Because I am interested in the variety across this forum.

Another recent discovery is that I am distantly related to George Bush... I spend way too much time in the genealogy room at the library.

Since I started this journey in 2009 I have met 3 relatives that I previously didn't know existed. I *LOVE* findagrave.com, fantastic resource.

A simple definition for a mutt: Mixed backgrounds, ex: Mom is Canadian, dad is American.

You're not a purebreed ex: All Canadian.

No need for it to be taken offensively.
  • My dad is from Ecuador and my mom is from the Dominican Republic :)

I find mutt derogatory. I have explained why. If you don't, that's your business.

Canadian and American is mixed now? Say wut?

I didn't say mixed, I said mutt. Meaning two different backgrounds. Just because it's all white or all black, doesn't negate what I said.

    mutt/mət/
    Noun:

    1. A dog, esp. a mongrel.
    2. derogatory. A person regarded as stupid or incompetent.

    ETA;

    And from Urban Dictionary, for good measure;

    ". mutt 258 up, 126 down

term used to identify someone as multiracial; pretty derogatory word for a multiracial person, at least in the eyes of someone who is multiracial him/herself (because of the word's use in labeling a dog as inferior as a result of impure breeding)
i think it is obnoxious of you to call me a mutt; i'm not inferior to you because my parents are two different races."

    "3. mutt 35 up, 28 down

A mutt is a person of a multi-racial background, depending on who you are talking to it can be considered offensive and/or derogatory. In a lot of cases people don't take offense to it(I personally call myself a mutt all the time) Just be careful who you call a mutt, some people won't take it very well."

No clue. 'Mutt' to me, is not offensive. I see mixed as a mixture of two and mutt as a mixture of more than two.

I'm a mix of my mom and my dad, so that makes me a mutt because my mom is puerto rican and black and...

Dad is a black American but is 'blue black', so dark he looks ... blue.

So, without a DNA test, I really can't tell you.

I'm just happy to be me.

Look, I'm not trying to argue with you, these definitions mean nothing to me. As they're literal definitions not slang. I am not "white"
    adjective
    1.
of the color of pure snow, of the margins of this page, etc.; reflecting nearly all the rays of sunlight or a similar light.

But I am white. It's the same shiz.

Black American, descendant of African Slaves (plus a litte European and American Indian sprinkled in).

I'd love to have DNA testing and really see where my people are from. Its on my list :)

I would love to do that, too. Didn't know it was possible! *Adds it to list*

    Boring white girl.
  • Well, to describe ethnicity, I just happen to be looking at my Birth Certificate yesterday and it says White under the "ethnicity" section.

My birth heritage and religion is 100% Arab. Palestinian by birth. Hard to be one these days but Heck, I am who I am.
