Do all beverages count towards your water intake?

I drink a lot of iced tea and I was wondering if that counts towards your water intake or no because it's a diuretic? I don't really like water by itself

every fluid that you drink and every water content food that you eat count towards your water intake. i am guessing its diuretic because of the caffeine content in the tea. one of the side effect of high caffeine intake is the frequent urination.0

I don't count things like diet soda or almond milk to my water count, but I do count anything that I use water to make (Crystal Light , tea, those sorts of things). Hmm, I also don't count coffee...hadn't considered that even though I make it from water. :-)0

I count anything that's a liquid toward my water count, but I consider it a liquid count ;-) That includes, for me, tea, water, milk, juice, etc.0

My nutritionist told me not to count anything but pure water as part of my water intake.
So, I drink nothing but water and my one bowl of coffee in the morning.0 -
I count tea because it is mostly water anyway.0

I dont add it to my water intake due to the fact it has some calories. I do add any drinks other than water to my calorie intake though, but I am not sure what is the proper way to add any liquids to your water.. I would ask a nutritionist if they know.. Good luck..0

Any drink under 10 cal/serving I log as water. (the majority of what I drink.) Other more caloric driinks I log as what they are...0

My doctor says it all counts but I still try to get in 8 servings of water (some with Mio) every day on top of the food and other liquids that can be counted.0

Anything liquid and also water content in food count toward your daily water intake, with the exception of maybe alcoholic beverages. Caffeine is a diuretic, but in most caffeinated beverages, the amount of caffeine is not enough to have a diuretic effect that is large enough to cancel out the fluid in the drink. If that makes sense (sorry, my mind is not forming sentences very well after a long day!). So you can even count coffee towards your water intake. Which is good news for me, since I like to drink a lot of it in the mornings!
I wouldn't count alcoholic drinks, because I believe the diuretic effects of alcohol are stronger than those of caffeine, and alcohol is notorious for dehydrating you.

Diet soda has no calories, yet it dehydrates you and causes weight retention in the belly area. So personally, I only count pure water.0

i count water and unsweetened, non-caffeinated teas. if i drink caffeine i try to drink +2 water.0

I make sure that I get my 8 glasses of water a day, but I also usually have a cup of tea and a mini can of Diet Coke most days.0

Juice, coffee, soda. None of that sounds like WATER to me lol sorry.
Water is like water. From the faucet. From Poland springs. Etc.
Although, I have the same problem and CANNOT drink plain water no matter how hard I try.
So I usually add iced tea, crystal light, mio, or even slim quick to my water & then count it.0 -
i count water only. everything else I log as it is.... tea, coffee etc.0

Any time you have WATER and then add a flavoring that counts as water So I think your iced tea counts. Try to stick to NO CALORIE teas and stuff though with your water. And maybe try alternating, thats what I try to do. One 16oz glass of crystal light, then 16 oz glass of just water, and vise versa.0 -
I'm not sure of the exact answer - but I do know of people who put fruit in their water to help with the taste - cucumbers, watermelon, any citrus fruit....

Tea has caffine. I have always been told to drink an additional cup of water for every cup of something I drink that has caffine. I always drink water or crystal light. I know it's not the best, but I can't drink water everyday, all day!0

I only count water as water... that's all I drink so I guess it wouldn't be an issue for me. For best results though, I'd drink 8 cups of water water. I live in AZ so I have to drink water or I'll die of dehydration with all the exercise and heat. haha.0

I only log water consumption as water all other drinks I log as what they are in my meals.0

pretty much everything you are drinking is 99+ percent water. i would add the caveat that drinks containing caffeine or alcohol will have a diuretic effect, so make sure it's decaf if you want to count it for hydration.0

I drive my family bonkers with my opinion on water. My feelings are that as soon as you put something in water, it becomes something else. If everything was water and not tea, etc, it would be called water and not tea or kool-aid or whathaveyou. So my four cups of green tea is logged as green tea, coffee as coffee. Even sparkling water gets logged as such. Only plain water gets the water glass click. fwiw, I used to hate plain water until I cut the pop and committed to drinking it.0
