Okay, so I just had a conversation with a female friend about crying. She said she cries about once a month-ish…..I don’t remember the last time I cried. maybe at the death of my grandmother 8 years ago. Am I just a heartless S.O.B. or what?? As a guy, you cry when someone dies. if you were close to them?

I cry at commercials, sappy songs, romantic movies, when people are dilholes, when people type "mellow dramatic," sometimes I cry when I laugh really hard.

You're not a heartless s.o.b, some people are criers others aren't.

lol I cry a few times a month.
I look at it as a release of tension and it makes me feel better.

i'm the same, everything makes me cry a little. my therapis once said, its like i have a well of tears and just on little drop of emotion makes the well over flow. i dont know if thats accurate. men are different. my husband would probably cry if the dog died, or his mom, he gets emotional sometimes, but doesnt cry easily.

men and women are different, no worse no better, just different.

this. i think it is so healthy.

i used to cry A LOT. like every few weeks.

now i cry never, i probably cried last when i quit my dream job from crazy micromanagement.

my fiance rarely cries either, just when my hamster died last year. and it was very beautiful tears, not ugly crying lol

Seriously? Like once a week for me. I love a good cry. It's a happy cry, a sad cry, an excited cry, the frustrated cry, the church cry, just read a sappy card in the store cry, the commercial cry, the Extreme Home Makeover cry. I'm a cry-baby and that's ok.

ETA I've never seen my husband cry, ever. Not even when our two kids were born. He's just not a cryer at all.

    Same for me.

I cry whenever my emotions are extreme. Like extremely happy, extremely angry, etc. I think it is healthy to cry and since I am a Cancer, I definitely wear my heart on my sleeve.

I can remember crying publicly only a handful of times in my years as an adult.
The birth of my children were very emotionally draining.
    My father's funeral.
And... don't laugh.....When LSU won their first BCS National Championship. I was drunk. :drinker:

I cry often but it's usually when I'm overwhelmed and stressed out. I hate that crying is how I react to stress. It's happened a few times in work situations and it's embarrassing... I can't really control it, though.

Exactly. I have like... a level of "normal" and anything over that is water-works. I get SO happy for other people too, immediate tears.

I cry all the fkn time. You know when something is really funny, because tears are streaming (then again I laugh at everything), if I see someone sad, I cry. If I see an animal hit by a car, I cry. I see a car accident, BOOM, cry. I hear about a tragedy in some far off land, cry. Someone says something rude/insulting to me, I fkn laugh because I know I'm awesome.

I cry way more often from laughter than anything else. If I do cry from being upset, I do it in secret.

I am not sure I have ever cried over the death of a family member. I have teared up pretty good watching my mother cry over the death of a family member.

I got weepy when talking about the Colorado shooting this morning.

I cry more from anger than sadness, and I hate that I do that because it makes me feel really wussy. But it's a far better reaction to anger than my brothers' reaction to punch or kick things. I've never put a whole in a wall or broken any bones that way.

I very rarely laugh til I cry. I laugh until I wheeze and can't breathe first.

In case anyone doesn't know, never ever say the words, "Don't cry," if you think a woman is about to cry. It opens floodgates.

Far from it! I cry when I'm mad all the time and then get more mad b/c I'm crying and can't stop! I cry pretty easy over sappy things and sad things too-eg it brought tears to my eyes when I saw all the school stuff out and I know I have to send my baby to kindergarten this year.

I cry over commercials, movies, shows, songs and sometimes when I'm frustrated. I don't think my husband was ever a crier until we had our kids, now tv shows, movies, and songs will choke him up.

I don't remember who I heard say it, but they were spot on. I cry from any heightened emotion.

    For example:

    * I cried when I had $500 stolen from my bank account 3 weeks ago because I was sad
    * I cried happy tears yesterday when I found out that I got my money back into my account
    * I also cried on Tuesday when I went into an interview (I'm a college drop out) for a job I really wanted because the person who interviewed me said "We're looking for someone with an associate's degree to prove they've accomplished something". I balled out of embarrassment and frustration.
    * I saw a bunch of funny *.gif 's in a thread today and cried because I was giggling so hard.

Difference is though, I cry once I'm away from people if I'm sad/mad/embarrassed because I don't want to make a scene, crying is just how I unwind and cope. If I laugh till I cry, it's short lived :P

I cry - when I'm sad, when I'm happy, or when I'm made. Extreme emotions make me cry. For instance, I'm a photography fanatic, and my husband gave me a camera I'd been wanting (but not expecting) for my birthday a few weeks ago. I cried. Last week he told me something that meant a lot to me, and I cried.

    Maybe it's pre-menopause?

He will cry sometimes, too, and is not ashamed about it. It's one of the things I love about him.

I had a great cry a couple weeks ago, it was great and it helped me to move on from what was bugging me, nothing wrong with it at all. Today I had tears of joy...best tears I've had in a very long time!
