How do you respond to something like....

I used to just reply with a funny look and "I don't know…?" Nobody could reply to that. It made them feel very uncomfortable for asking such an absurd question.
I think I might start replying to the "why no kids" question with a puzzled look and "hmm… why do you ask?". That is a fantastic response.0 -
"They're put off by my wooden leg"0

I would take it as a compliment. You must be a very cool person and people genuinely wonder why you haven't been snatched up.
I kind of agree with this. It is a really awkward question to ask, but I agree that it's more meant as a compliment, or maybe the guy is trying to figure out what your reasoning is for not having one, and if there's a possible chance that he could be the one. I would assume this to mean "Wow, your amazing, I can't believe no guy would have snatched you up by now! What are the reasons your staying away?" Something to this effect.0 -
I'm a smartarse. I have a warped sense of humor as well. I told them that "I''m having issues getting rid of that old dead body smell from my last boyfriend, and until I could get that smell out of the carpet, I couldn't possible consider another boyfriend, when I could still smell the remains of the last one. I thien asked if they could suggest any type of cleaning solution that could help rid my carpet of decayed flesh and blood smell. They usually had NO idea how to respond. They literally ran in the opposie direction. Humor is good for the soul. :laugh:0

BAAAA-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA! epic!!!!0 -
It is either a REALLY rude question, in which case the answer is something like "none of your damn business".
Or it's a pick up line, in which case it's a stupid one and the answer is something like "because all the men I meet are not smart enough for me - and here's another one".
There are some great responses here - if I wasn't married, I'd be memorising some of them!0 -
what? Honestly this is the first time I ever heard that such rude questions are being asked (outside of maybe immediate family asking it). Its gotta be something only asked to women because I've never been asking "why you don't have a gf".
I'd just say "haven't found a abusive enough man to degrade me for the rest of my life" or "because your daughter took the only sugar daddy I know of" or "because your son has been with most of guys in 100 miles radius". Sorry couldn't come up with decent come backs right now, gimme me some time to work on it. I'm still baffled by this kind of rude behavior0 -
many people say that as a back-handed compliment, in the sense of, "You are so awesome, i'm surprised no one has snapped you up yet."
not sure if they realize they are being insensitive by asking.0 -
"Why don't you have a boyfriend?"
My coach asked me this on the first day and plenty of people have asked me from time to time, but how do you respond?
The real reasons are sad and obvious...some people are shallow....but I get blindsided and have nothing to say.
How about 'too controlling'? I've already had too many of that sort, don't want any more.0 -
Just be honest.
I AM NOT INTERESTED IN DATING UNTIL I HAVE REACHED MY FITNESS GOALS :drinker:
Next Question?0 -
Am I the only one that thinks its weird her coach is asking her this?0
-
Yep... I have had many people say the same thing to me...
And oddly the most recent was my trainer... lol
I always just say,... haven't found one worthy... or one that knows how to treat me right....or one that can keep his pen!s to himself...0 -
i usually either respond " do you have someone in mind?" or i'm honest and say " i'm not regularly in situations where i meet a lot of new people because i'm focusing on on more pressing concerns at the moment". most people get the latter .
i dont necessarily see it as a rude question. i can look cute when i want plus i'm outgoing, flirty and somehow people think i'm sweet and feminine  so i understand where people are coming from when they ask.0 -
Maybe the coach was asking on a training level as many people get distracted from their sports due to relationships. Might be an option.0

How about..."I'm to damn hot to date just one person right now. Sheeet look at me I got all this to share. Why pin it in just one place. Are you mental?" .... Shock factor is one of the most rewarding things in life.0
-
``Pardon? A boyfriend? Gad I don`t remember when I last had only 'A' boyfriend. I usually have at least three and you didn't know this because I don`t discuss my private life.``0

I haven't a women worth my time.0

I just tell people I'm so happy that there is no way I'm going to let a guy screw it all up!0
