Lovvve my beer!!! I have switched to Budweisers select 55 and save calories to drink it on the weekends only. Its been a real struggle, my favorite food with my beer is pizza. I can still do it on 1200 calories if I buy papa murphy's delight! Good luck, we all have our demons!

I'm feelin ya...it sucks, I like to polish off some beer on the weekends and I think you just have to force yourself to work out extra hard that day and stick to lower cal food. I want to try Budweiser 55 but can't find it :(

Oh boy do I know about this! I would drink a few after dinner and the kid was asleep, and then start eating to counter the effects of the alcohol. I could eat great all day long and then blow it over a few hours of snacking and drinking. I stopped drinking alone for a month. It was hard at first because I really enjoyed kicking back at the end of the day with a drink, but the commitment paid off. Now if I plan on having a drink because my boyfriend is over or I'm hanging with the neighbors, I work it into my diary. It's been great for me. Not only have I lost weight and regained control over my drinking, I'm also at a point where I can just enjoy one beer or one glass of wine alone.

Do you like the average watery American Lager? If so, then sure, knock yourself out... but you're much better off to find a delicious Kolsch and just make room for the calories.

I do enjoy a good ale or several before and after the football when I can afford to go, but luckily for my belly the season ended in May.
Did go to a friendly match last weekend, which involved 5 or 6 pints, but when taking into consideration the 80 odd minutes I was walking around I wasn't far off breaking even.

Volunteering on the bar at the Worcester beer festival in a few weeks will be a difficult one to even out, but if I'm extra good that week and go for a run in the morning I don't see it really setting me back.

So I'm definitely seeing beer as a reward for good behaviour at the moment. A damn fine reward it'll be too :)
Ha ha love it, ive managed 3 sober nights in a row, a miracle in this lovely sunshine. I have decided to attempt a coors light night friday and try this water theory. Wish me luck!

I have to admit, I like it best of all of the light beers I've tried, even those with more calories. I can usually even manage it without a lime. :) In addition to the benefit of less calories, the lower alcohol content will allow you to LOOK like you're keeping up with your friends but after 3 or 4 of them you probably won't even have a buzz.
  • Lol I am sorry I just had to open this blog because it said beer lol. Well good luck with your journey. Hope you achieve all your goals.

I now drink just on the weekend and only have 2-3 bottles of beer. Sometime sI have to do extra exercise for it to fit in my allwoance but it's so worth it. Nothing better than ice cold beer on a hot day :drinker:

This is my weak spot as well. I love a good, dark beer. Like misskortney we homebrew, so it's always around. So far my compromise has been cutting back, by limiting myself to no more than 12 oz a night (yeah, that sounds bad... I don't drink EVERY night). It will probably slow down my weight loss, but the idea of going alcohol free will probably stop me altogether.

I used to have beer binges & drank 12 bottles of beer in one sitting whenever I'm at a gathering but since I got diabetic so I have to stop although I still drink red wine but in moderation as long as it fits in my calorie goals.

Ugh! The Bud 55 is like drinking water. Beer is my downfall too. It does just boil down to whether you want to be slim more than you want that beer! It's just so relaxing at the end of a long day!

I'm in favor of beer, and wine, and tequila, and....everything else too. I will allow myself 1 drink if I budget the calories for it (usually only 100-150 depending on the poison), and limit myself to 1 party night (possible binge) every 2 weeks. During football season, I make sure to run about 5-8 miles pre-game to earn myself 2-3 hours of beer! :drinker:
