Shaun T makes me freaking insane

I hate him. Not because he forces me to do stuff I don't wanna - such as globe jumps and walking pushups- but for his stupid sayings and bad pronunciation. Every morning I dread hearing him say "C'mon y'all!" and drop the first "T" in "important": He ALWAYS says "Impor-ent." Arrrgh I hate that!

There's more.

In cardio recovery, he mixes up squats and lunges at least twice. Sigh, why i notice these things and why they bother me is a whole different topic.

Also, I don't have all that much to lose, but still- looking at all the those super fit people in the videos isn't motivating for me, it's freaking depressing. It wouldn't have killed them to throw a couple people with ten (or twenty) pounds to lose in the video. Beach body acts like this workout program is "super super insane" - give me freaking break. I've yet to burn more than 320ish calories in a workout. When I play sports, I burn more like 500/ hour and that's including time on the sidelines.

I'm on week three and "pushing through y'all!" SMFH. Just too stubborn to quit.

What does he do that drives you 'insane'?

    Wow, maybe you should be doing a different program if it bothers you that much... haha. You shouldn't dread your workouts! Personally I love Shaun T! I think he's a really great motivator. I feel like he always says the right things to keep me going just as I'm about to give up.

    On the subject of the people in the video, I think they are super motivating. Maybe these workouts aren't for you if you don't have a competitive streak in you. Every day I like pushing myself harder to try and keep up with them (and beat them on the fit test). And if you're not burning as many calories as you'd like, either a) maybe you need to adjust your HRM or b) you're not pushing yourself hard enough. I suspect the latter since you don't seem to like the videos and I'm sure you're probably not giving it your all.

    If your heart's not in it, just quit now. Find a program that suits you better.

    I was just saying this same thing last weekend!! I completed the first month and then totally quit. The workouts are too long for my busy day (single mom who works full time), I don't find him motivating at all, and it just seemed more like torture than a workout. I know it's supposed to be challenging but, I have to enjoy it to continue. I am about a week into Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. The workouts are shorter but still kick my butt and I find I look forward to working out again. Maybe try something different?

    It is a good program, but i always wondered the same thing
    Why didn't he throw in some people that looked like they actually needed to work out.
    I think that would have motivated people more.

    I feel that way about Tony Horton. I CANNOT handle that man enough to do P90X, even if I could do that many pull-ups. Hearing his "jokes" one time is waaaaaaaay more than enough.

    His poor grammar does bother me, but I try to ignore it. But really, when he says "when your legs IS" I can't help but cringe. I don't mind his use of the word "y'all" because I hear that all the time, but the grammar issues do get to me. I like how hard he makes me work, though, so I deal with it.

    I can't believe you haven't burned more than 320ish calories in a work out. I easily burn at least 450 calories in every workout (except cardio recovery) and I'm not overweight. I just finished week 4- I'm a little afraid of the Max workouts that I have to start in a week, but I'm looking forward to working harder and getting in better shape.

    Also, I don't have all that much to lose, but still- looking at all the those super fit people in the videos isn't motivating for me, it's freaking depressing. It wouldn't have killed them to throw a couple people with ten (or twenty) pounds to lose in the video.

    I was just saying this same thing last weekend!! I completed the first month and then totally quit. The workouts are too long for my busy day (single mom who works full time), I don't find him motivating at all, and it just seemed more like torture than a workout. I know it's supposed to be challenging but, I have to enjoy it to continue. I am about a week into Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. The workouts are shorter but still kick my butt and I find I look forward to working out again. Maybe try something different?

    Yep, this is my second attempt to complete the 8 or 9 weeks... last year i made it through the first month only and then quit because he was driving me crazy and I got bored with the workouts. This time I'm dedicated to finish.... even though I'd rather be jogging outside or lifting weights. I figure doing all the different moves is working out areas I tend to ignore perhaps. It's definitely a good workout and I'm hoping I'll burn more in the MAX part.

    And just because you don't like something doesn't mean it's time to quit!!!!! RIGHT?!?!?!

    Hey that's ok, we have a difference of opinion. 4 years ago i didn't like running either but i kept at and i freaking love it now. I don't usually give up.... that's my stubborn personality. I gave up on Insanity last year for a number of reasons and never felt quite right about it. Also it sure feels like an accomplishment when you complete something that wasn't necessarily fun.

    Also this is of a rant than a request for advice....

    He is not my favorite personality and neither is Jillian anymore (use to really love her) but i still do the workouts occasionally i just turn the volume down and blast some music :) works for me.

    Wow, maybe you should be doing a different program if it bothers you that much... haha. You shouldn't dread your workouts! Personally I love Shaun T! I think he's a really great motivator. I feel like he always says the right things to keep me going just as I'm about to give up.

    On the subject of the people in the video, I think they are super motivating. Maybe these workouts aren't for you if you don't have a competitive streak in you. Every day I like pushing myself harder to try and keep up with them (and beat them on the fit test). And if you're not burning as many calories as you'd like, either a) maybe you need to adjust your HRM or b) you're not pushing yourself hard enough. I suspect the latter since you don't seem to like the videos and I'm sure you're probably not giving it your all.

    If your heart's not in it, just quit now. Find a program that suits you better.

    I agree with the below. Not everyone will love the same programs! Beachbody has a guarantee on their programs so if you truly hate it, I'd say return it and find something you like. I personally didn't like P90X and wasn't able to finish the program because I was so bored, but when I got Turbo Fire and ChaLEAN Extreme I fell in love with the workouts. Beachbody certainly isn't just Insanity, so check out the others!

    I hate him. Not because he forces me to do stuff I don't wanna - such as globe jumps and walking pushups- but for his stupid sayings and bad pronunciation. Every morning I dread hearing him say "C'mon y'all!" and drop the first "T" in "important": He ALWAYS says "Impor-ent." Arrrgh I hate that!

    There's more.

    In cardio recovery, he mixes up squats and lunges at least twice. Sigh, why i notice these things and why they bother me is a whole different topic.

I've yet to burn more than 320ish calories in a workout. When I play sports, I burn more like 500/ hour and that's including time on the sidelines.

    I'm on week three and "pushing through y'all!" SMFH. Just too stubborn to quit.

    This cracks me up! Because I agree that sometimes he can be annoying. But so can all instructors.

    I love him. I think he's gorgeous. I love his body. I love his workouts.

    But, I've noticed the same things you have, and it drives me crazy. What is it he says on Cardio Abs... "knees is" or something like that. LOL

    I don't mind the "C'mon ya'll" though. It just makes me laugh.

    But his grammar does annoy me.

    And I also hate the super fit girls in there. That's something I actually really love about P90X - those people are real. The guys don't strut around topless, and the girls are FIT. REAL women. Not ridiculously perfect girls with ripped abs. UGH.
