It's really a time saving measure rather than any health benefits. Plus in the summer, its nice not to have a hot oatmeal.0

Made some overnight oatmeal a month ago....I personally thought it was horrible. It was like cold wet paste and I love oatmeal. I thought this was going to be a recipe to add to my fast-on-the-go breakfast options. Should I have heated it up or do you eat it cold?
Heat it up.0 -

Here is my recipe (per serving):
1/4 cup rolled oats
1/4 plain yogurt
1/4 cup skim milk
1 tsp. chia seeds (optional - if not, use little less milk)
2 tsp. sugar free pancake syrup (or 2 pks of Splenda)
Mix or shake well, then add flavors:
Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal:
1/4 cup pureed pumpkin
1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
Stir into ingredients above
Sprinkle with walnuts (optional)
Blueberry Maple
1/2 cup blueberries
Increase pancake syrup to 2 TB
Peach/Honey
1/4 cup chopped peaches
1 teaspoon honey
Also, I add my sweeteners and fruits when I make the oatmeal, because I like the flavors to blend. If you don't use bananas, it lasts 4-5 days. Bananas, I do add same day. Another good variation is to add 2T cocoa powder.
I use sugar free syrup too! A little cinnamon with some craisins. I sometimes add pecans in the morning.0 -
Also try the Chobani Apple and Cinnamon yogurt with it.0

Interesting, never thought of that. Thanks for posting! :flowerforyou:0

I'm not a hot oatmeal fan and I found this easy and convenient. I use vanilla or chocolate protein mix for my liquid.0

My go-to overnight oats recipe is:
1/2 c. oats
1/2 c. unsweetened almond milk
1 Tbsp PB2 (or any kind of peanut butter is fine)
1 Tbsp. honey
1 tsp. cocoa powder
Mix together and stick in fridge overnight. I usually take mine out about 15-20 minutes before I eat it so it can warm up a bit. Its DELICIOUS!!! :bigsmile:0 -
this is what i use, except she uses skim milk and i use almond milk0
