Put taco seasoning in the water and use the quinoa to make tacos instead of chicken or beef

Take 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese and 1 wedge laughing cow swiss cheese and mix in 1 cup cooked quinoa when it's still hot and you have a nice mac and cheese substitute

OMFG! HOW DID I NOT THINK OF THIS BEFORE?!!?!?

    Cilantro Lime Quinoa

I've made it with both quinoa and couscous. Delish!!

I will have to try this one. I was wondering what to do with a bowl of leftover quinoa, not enough for a meal but enough to try this out
  • gotta try some of these. thanks

I also like using it instead of pasta for lasagna. Layered in a dish with homemade tomato sauce and some mozzarella :)

I love quinoa as a substitute for bread/rice - works perfectly. It has a nutty texture and is so filling. :)

At the risk of embarrassing myself...

I've never eaten quinoa before but would like to try it. What section of the grocery store can I find it in? I looked all over the store today and couldn't find it anywhere!

cook diced/shredded chicken in a little soy sauce and paprika (or however you like your savoury chicken), and mix up with some cooked quinoa, mayo, and hot sauce! i also like to add strips of seaweed for texture and fiber. it's basically what I put in a quinoa chicken wrap but straight out of the bowl.

Honestly I think it varies from store to store. Odds are you can either find it in the aisle with the pasta or the aisle with the rice.

    My favorite quinoa salad:

    Cook 1 cup dry quinoa

    Then add:

-1 carton grape tomatoes (slice in half if they are big)
-1 cup corn (i use frozen and then eat the salad the next day, but fresh works too!)
    -1 can black beans, rinsed
    -small handful cilantro, chopped
    -several green onions, chopped
    -juice of one lemon
    -juice of one lime
    -drizzle of olive oil

Mix it all up, then add avocado on top!

Seriously, I can't get enough of this recipe... it is SO GOOD.

I have made so many substitutions in this recipe. I will add jalepeno, black beans, mushrooms.. whatever flavor I am going for. I only use 1/4 cup cheese and if I don't have cottage cheese no worries it doesn't make a difference to me.

This is very similar to a quinoa burger recipe I just tried!

    2 cups cooked quinoa
    3 eggs
    3 tbsp Flour
1 carrot finely grated (or sub zucchini)
    1 small onion finely diced
    1 cup grated cheese
1/2 cup cottage cheese or sour cream (I didn't have any of either so I left it out...made no difference)
Seasonings...I used 1 tsp chili powder, dash of curry and a tsp of garlic salt...very versatile for any flavor you're looking for

Mix it all together (after letting quinoa cool a bit)..if it's too wet, add a little more flour. Use a 1/4 cup to drop into a hot oiled pan (i spritzed with olive oil between each batch) and flatten to about half an inch thickness. Fry until golden brown, then flip.

You can serve on a bun like a real burger, or a lettuce bed. I just ate mine on their own. Suggested toppings were mayo/ketchup (fry sauce), tatziki...could be anything depending on your flavorings.
