    But she asked for thoughts from a general group of people, not just followers of the diet. Going straight to the groups would give her biased answers only IMO.

    True, but you would be surprised how unbiased it really is.

    And if anyone decides to go over to marksdailyapple.com you will see it's probably one of the most researched, and honest places you can go. There are many there that question everything, post scientific studies, and provide their own experiences, pro and con.

    I personally prefer just a clean eating approach over full paleo. My recommendation is for your and/or your husband to do your own research and see if this is something you're interested in and something that you could sustain.

    love replies like this, honest, and to the point. This is the way it should be.

    Thank you.

    Probably the most helpful response that will occur in this thread!

    You gotta do what's best for YOUR body. We can tell you all day and night what Paleo is or isn't, but at the end of it all, you're the one that must do the research and decide how to achieve your lifelong goals.

    Chiropractor =/= nutritionist

    We don't know anything about the chiropractor or their training. It is not uncommon for chiropractors to have nutrition as secondary education.

    ETA: Besides if the husband is lactose and gluten intolerant it doesn't take much of a leap to cut both of these things out of your diet.

    I've been trying to follow a LCHF diet -- it's not paleo or primal but it's the same difference really. It's just a healthful way to eat with a few simple things to keep in mind and I do my best, nothing crazy. It's completely free, the doctor doesn't even have any ads on the site, it's just the diet he uses in his medical practice.

    I think Mark's Daily Apple is great too though and provides a ton of useful information on how to change your life for the better. I'm not really interested in the particulars of the diet itself but I feel like I should buy a copy of the Primal Blueprint just as a way to support the blog.

    i eat primal, and it wasn't until i tried to re-introduce the "toxic foods" after 6 weeks that i realized if my body liked them or didn't. i eat beans on occasion, i drink beer sometimes, i eat sugar and flour sometimes... but at a cost that i am not willing to take on every day. i simply eat primal because it makes me feel better, and i was skeptic at first. a big thing they emphasize also is 80/20 so you get a little flex time when you don't want to or can't really be primal.

    don't knock it till you try it.
