Why are you upset about losing pant size? That is great! Forget about the scale if you are seeing results in inches. Maybe you should not set a weight goal so strictly and track other measurements too. I think you are being too hard on yourself, you are doing great.0
-
Damn...what I'd give to lose two pant sizes. The body is complex...the scale is bipolar.....chart your progress by how your clothes fit, how you feel, and how you look....if all of those are amazing, then what would the number matter?0

wait your upset about bigger pants
or
not losing weight
:huh:0 -

Some weeks are going to be up and some are going to be down. You can't base your positvity/negativity on one week's weight.
You say you have auto-immune issues. A lot of auto immune diseases hinder weight loss, so like the rest of us with auto immune issues, you have to work harder and lose slower.
2 pants sizes is a big difference. Who cares what your weight is? It's the inches around your waist, thighs, etc that make a difference in how you look.0 -
I didn't lose 2 pants sizes in a week. I started dieting the beginning of June and lost 13 pound until I started here. I guess I just want it too fast. But there is reason to be mean and sarcastic about the way people feel. If this is how people are treated when the get on a forum for help then I will just keep track with my friends and not post anymore comments.0

I meant no reason to be mean. I hope jacwhite22. Learns some compassion. You have know idea what I am up against or how I feel.0

I was just looking for answers.0

you may have just hit a plateau....depending on how much you're looking to lose. It's perfectly normal for that to happen. I would just make sure that you're getting enough water in your system (as a starter) and try moving around the foods that you eat. Perhaps have no starches in your diet after 4pm.....things like that. You may find that helps to kick start your loss again.0

Good ideas! Thanks.0

PS Awesome job at losing 2 pant sizes!!!!!!!! That's terrific, and I can't wait to be able to say the same!!!!!0

Muscle doesn't weigh more than fat... a 1lb of fat is still a 1lb and a 1lb of muscle is still a 1lb.
BUT, muscle does take up less space, so that is a perfect explanation to why you're waist is getting smaller while the scale isn't moving. I would try measuring yourself and keeping track that way. I do both scale and measurements and it keeps me from getting discouraged.0 -

Yes, muscle has more density - SO yes if you are adding muscle you can still lose inches but not have great weight loss.
It happens - everyone is different - I am not a fitness or nutrition expert, make small adjustments.0 -

Muscle weighs more than fat by volume. It is denser. That is WHY it takes up less space. People often forget to qualify this statement ("by volume"), hence the confusion.0 -
take a look at this link

I just figured that the majority of us here have taken a basic science class and understood that "takes up less space" when it is the same weight is denser. . Sorry for the confusion, I guess.0 -
I know you're frustrated, but 2 pants sizes is AWESOME! I say maybe weigh yourself once a month, but take your measurements more often!
Keep it up :-)0 -
I would kill to lose 2 pant sizes. Don't focus so much on the number is my recommendation. I wake up in the morning and see myself with my shirt off and, regardless of the fact that the number has only changed by about 4 lbs in 2 weeks, I feel like I look as if I've lost 10-15 lbs. I still have a long road ahead of me for the number to match what I see, but I recognize the changes and view them as all positive.
Something that helps keep me motivated - I spent almost 30 years abusing my body and eating whatever I want. If it takes me 5 years to get where I want to be, that's still a bargain.0 -
i've lost 20 lbs, been here since the end of may and i havent lost a pant size. lol id kill for those results!!0

Thank you guys. Guess I need to put my big girl panties on and get over it. :laugh:0

I havent lost that much weight either but like you have lost pant sizes and had to cinch up my belt another hole to my belt. I now track my inches and a few custom body parts just to give me a smile that no one else knows about0

Two pants sizes? Thats great!
I haven't even gotten there yet! o_o
Stop being hard on yourself.0 -
That is awesome that you have lost 2 pant sizes. I so wish I could get it together and lose 2lbs. I am a single mother of 2 boys, and I am a Medical Assistant. I dont really have the support I need to get motivaited, but know I need to if I want to be around to see my children grow up. I need to start over and do it for real this time. How do I reset my calories I need daily? I also need pointers on how everyone is loosing the weight? I went on Weight Watchers and paid them $42.00 a month to watch me gain weight. I have taken Adipex and lost 20lbs and then stopped, and gained it all back and then some. My doctor tells me I dont eat enough, so my bodies in starvation mode. I have tried every OTC meds and NOTHING has worked for me. Any advice on what to do, or how to do it? Please help.0

Please be encouraged that the scale will eventually budge. Perhaps you could switch up your activities this week so that 1) you have one day to rest your body (maybe go for a stroll) and 2) try a different activity that you haven't trained for in a while (rollerblading, volleyball, or jumping rope?) and 3) do some interval training--example: 3 minutes of walking at usual pace alternating with 1 minute of walking as fast as you can.
Don't give up! Losing weight is a journey. Along the way you will hit a few bumps. I will pray that you will be encouraged by the positive people in your life. Be strong!0 -
Whitlorn - check out this thread - lots of good info

I dont really follow any set diet plan, except to aim for low fat and low sodium. I log everything that that goes into my mouth good or bad. Not sure what you mean reset your calories on MFP go to your profile and goals and they can be reset but to reset your body to eat more is more of mental thing for me. I have to eat x amount0
-
In my experience I lost inches before it reflected on the scale. The scale is just a #, I have learned it's how I feel & how my clothes fit THAT IS THE REAL REWARD!!! Don't give up hon!!!0
-
Scales are liars. Listen to your body, 2 pant sizes is wonderful! You should pay attention to how your clothes fit, or don't fit on your body. You are building muscle mass which takes up less room than fat. Don't get discouraged by the numbers that run off of a battery and feed off our misery Congratulations and keep up the great work!0

I have been at this for a while (almost 2 years) . Some weeks are NSV (Non Scale Victories) and other weeks the scale is my friend. Some weeks nothing budges (Darn ) Take the positive and keep going:flowerforyou:0
