    Muscle doesn't weigh more than fat... a 1lb of fat is still a 1lb and a 1lb of muscle is still a 1lb.
    BUT, muscle does take up less space, so that is a perfect explanation to why you're waist is getting smaller while the scale isn't moving. I would try measuring yourself and keeping track that way. I do both scale and measurements and it keeps me from getting discouraged.

    Muscle weighs more than fat by volume. It is denser. That is WHY it takes up less space. People often forget to qualify this statement ("by volume"), hence the confusion.

    I just figured that the majority of us here have taken a basic science class and understood that "takes up less space" when it is the same weight is denser. :/. Sorry for the confusion, I guess.

    I guess I figured everyone knew 1lb of fat weighed the same as 1lb of muscle, too, so I don't understand the reason to state that. The reason for my post was not to suggest YOU were confused, I was clarifying why people often say muscle weighs more than fat (because it, in fact, does...by volume). I was not suggesting anything was wrong with what you said.

    No offense was taken, and I was not implying that you were suggesting that my statement was wrong. And I stated that because obviously the OP asked the question. You just reiterated my statement is all.

    Last week I found my first MFP friends because the scale got hung up on a number. I was so bummed, it was either build a support team or open a bag of chips. Thankfully, I chose to build a team and avoid the chips and just two days later the scale started moving.

    Did you set this two pound goal for a special event? If so, I can feel your pain. But don't let this get you down.

    If this was just a "Stay on Your Mark and keep up the pace" goal, then try to focus on the gains. You know about so many more gains than the scale. Focus on those. It is a long journey and you'll never make it if you just listen to the scale.
