    Two things:
    1. Thanks for all of the ideas from everyone! I just picked up my first bag of dried pinto yesterday, and was wondering how I was going to do them. Seems like it's pretty similar in preparation to black beans.
    2. Thanks to the OP for posting this, as I had planned to make black beans for dinner and was about to walk out the door without getting them started soaking. Woops!

    i've never tried with smoked turkey but what a great idea. i cant wait to try it-- i'll use it this sunday when i make my beans
