    Hey everybody

A couple weeks ago i saw a program on BBC called Eat,fast, and live longer, the very next day i started trying one of the diets featured on the show ( intermittent fasting, every other day eat no more than 500 calories and in between eat whatever i want).
I was just wondering if anyone else is doing this and what their results have been? So far I am happy with my results from this form of eating. The first week was really hard, i would basically just binge on my "feast" days but now my eating is alot more controlled and i am no longer starving on my "fast" days.

Intermittent Fasting (IF) is how I live...always have, so no....its not a fad diet, it is how we are intended to eat. I either eat for a week on an 8/16 cycle....meaning i eat everything for the day in an 8hr period then fast for 16hrs (including sleep), or I will fast one day per week (24hrs).....2 days per week if looking to lose weight (not very often). I have never been bigger than a size 32" waist, currently at about 10.5% body fat and 182lbs...I eat what I want...Pizza, Beer, Donuts, Bagels..just depends on the day. Typically I eat "clean", but if I don't, I don't worry about it.

There are two good sites to review, and one book you should read.

    leangains.com 8/16 IF
    eatstopeat.com 24hr fasting

Eat Stop Eat also has an outstanding book available (PDF), and if you search the forums you'll find lots of discussion for Eat, Stop, Eat...

    Update:

This week I felt sick and slightly nauseous from fasting -- which is not how I felt the first two weeks at all. I was going to end my fast Monday night but drank some chicken broth first and felt better almost immediately so I continued. On Tuesday, even though I felt fine, I drank some more chicken broth just in case and ended my fast with dinner like usual.

This week I only lost .8 lbs but I still think that's great because there's usually 2 weigh-in days a month I gain or break even because of water weight so losing weight three weeks in a row is good for me.

    Week 3 - .8 lbs
    Average Caloreis - 1,199
    (1415, 1623, 1549, 1391, 1677, 11, 727}
    Average Calories Burned - 78
    (137, 274, 137, 0,0,0,0)

    Week 1 - 1.8 lbs
    Average Calories - 1,192
    (1774, 1347, 1199, 1288, 1953, 0, 787)
    Average Calories Burned - 136
    (0,127,0,0,127,421,281)

    Week 2 - 4.6 lbs
    Average Calories - 1,155
    (1187,1396,1531,1432,1622,0,922)
    Average Calories Burned - 160
    (281,281,281,281,0,0,0)

.8 pounds is much less impressive than 4.6 but it's still great! :flowerforyou: Do you think you felt sick because you were dehydrated or just drinking to much water and needed the salt?

Although the second link is pedaling some crappy e-book. I was coming here to post about intermittent fasting. I've recently been eating at maintenance whilst putting into practice the principles of IF and have still seen reasonable weight loss.

It's a very good principle, although at first you might need to rely on stims to suppress appetite.

I'm expert by any means but I think our bodies benifit from consistinacy. That way it gets in a mode of knowing what fuel it's going to get as well as burn off. I it starts being denied "fuel" on a regular bases it my not burn off as much and "hold" some cals. back for when it feels your not feeding it enough. I'm not sure if I'm making much sense but I hope the basic idae of what I'm typing is coming across..
