    Song: Oh! You Pretty Things
    Original: Peter Noone
    Cover: David Bowie
Winner: David Bowie. Always David Bowie. Especially Hunky Dorey-era Bowie.

    -HOWEVER-

Song: The Man Who Sold the World
    Original: David Bowie
    Cover: Nirvana
Winner: Nirvana. I don't even particularly like Nirvana, but this cover really is excellent.

I like what you did here. Bowie knocks most things out of the park, but agree with you on Nirvana. Cobain was such a huge fan of the song that he put a lot into it.

    Song: Lovesong

    Original: The Cure

    Cover: 311

One of the best covers of all time.
    ....
Adele cover is far superior, but the original is still the best.

I am also a huge fan of the 311 version. I haven't heard the Adele cover, but that's mostly because I refuse to listen to most music produced after 2007ish
I normally agree that most mainstream music post like...2005 is crap, but Adele is incredibly talented. That being said, she's not everyone's cup of tea. Only other "new" artist I listen to is Florence and the Machine.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this one yet:

Song: Cum On Feel the Noize
    Original: Slade
    Cover: Quiet Riot

Not necessarily one of my favorite songs, but the Quiet Riot version is clearly the definitive version (at least in the U.S.).

    She's Not There-The Zombies
    Covered better by Santana.

GNR did two superior covers of Live And Let Die and Knockin' On Heaven's Door.

Metallica's version of Whiskey In The Jar is much better than original Thin Lizzy version.

The Clash had like one good album and they beat VH? KUHHHRAZEEEE

    Them's is fightin' words!

The Clash is the only band that matters. It's a fact. Google that s***.

Van Halen hasn't been relevant in two decades. And they haven't ever been good.

Also, I'll take The Kinks version of "You Really Got Me" any day.

    Good day.

I think you need to go to the DR...as to having havent been relevant for two decades...hasnt it been three decased of no relevancy for The Clash...oh VH has a #2 Album and the 2nd most successful tour this year.

    Good Day to you maam

    I SAID GOOD DAY.

G-n-R recorded the definitive version of Live and Let Die. It's just kind of sad to take away the one good Wings song from Sir Paul. What's left? Band on the Run.

Don't exactly know who they credit with it, but the version of 'When Doves Cry' on the Romeo and Juliet soundtrack is awesome
