Rant about men!

Not all men obviously. I know there are great ones out there
However, what is with men acting like children and/or idiots? These are some of the conversations I heard in the last few days.
"Bro, Imma get on my razor and bounce" <- Said by a man at least 35 years old.
"Man I saw a pregnant bird the other day. It was really pregnant. Like ready to give birth. It was huge!" <- said by a man in his 50's
"I need to go to the tanning salon tonight. I still don't have a base" <- The man must have been mid twenties
"I haven't gotten a manicure in weeks" <- It's from a different guy around 30.
"Dude, I aint got a job so the ***** has to pay" <- Sadly, he was in his mid 30's
I never see men opening doors for women. It is ALWAYS the other way around. Why can't it be 50/50? I can open a door for myself and others but men have gotten so lazy. I have seen so many couples where the guys are on their cellphones and the women are lugging the groceries or at IKEA it was heavy looking furniture box. I am just saddened to see really weak men.
Is it just me or have you noticed it too?
**** I know women have their annoying traits too so this isn't an "i hate men" rant because I adore men. I just hate the wussies who say stupid %$^&
I know someone is going to take offense and hurl insults at me and that totally fine. Bring it! :drinker:

What's wrong with getting a manicure? I mean I won't because I'm not quite THAT metro... but really isn't something like that about taking care of yourself?
Oh... and... you suck!
Love,
SH0 -
Haha. I got one manicure because my soon to be bride asked me to get one for wedding photos. Never since. I'm more concerned about the flat brim hat wearing douchers! I wish they would outlaw all baseball caps that have no bend in the brim.0
-
I have to say that I am damn lucky with my husband. He works his butt off to support us (I'm an artist who earns near squat), always helps out with chores when asked and even when not asked, and is happy to handle the heavy stuff for me because I have annoyingly weak arms. I don't hear him **** talking about anyone really unless someone has seriously crossed him. When that happens, there is no forgiveness though. He can harbor a grudge like no other. Scorpio to the bone (don't really believe in that stuff, but I like to joke about it because the glove fits in his case).0
-
So you take quotes of people's lives to bash them? Leave 'em alone. And if a guy wants to have a manicure, that's no problem with me. And if a guy is on a conference call or doing whatever on his cell phone while his wife/girlfriend is carrying bags, then who's to say that the call is the better option? Maybe it's a work call. Or an irritating in-law. Who knows0
-
Thank you for giving me a giggle
My guy always opens the door, carries the groceries and is just the sweetest gent ever
This doesn't make me feel all "weak and girly" it makes me feel special with his acts of care and love :blushing: .
He works hard every day and still he's always at my car door opening it for me. The thing is it isn't a one way street, everyday I try to do something that quietly shows him how much I appreciate and love him. It's a partnership and it takes work...but I believe we're both worth it.
There is nothing wrong with a guy looking after himself (manicures are great) my problem is with the guys/gals who are foul mouthed and think that by "bad mouthing" their significant other; it some how makes them look like 'big' people in the eyes of their mates...:noway:0 -
You should hear some of the rubbish that I hear leaving female lips  Here's the bottom line, some PEOPLE are idiots.0

Women pushed to equality and men didn't understand what that meant. Equality meant that women would like the ability to hold down the same jobs as men, getting the same pay for the same or equal job, the same benefits, etc. Men took women's desire for equality to the extreme, figuring that women also wanted to be treated like men - opening their own doors, carrying their own packages, etc.
There is a difference between equality and respect.
Equality means that women are given the same opportunities as men, such as being able to hold the same jobs, being paid the same as men for the same or equal jobs, being able to attend the same schools, being able to advance into the same positions as men, etc.
Respect, on the other hand, is realizing that women are human beings, not some bird that is pregnant, some chick that is someone you would 'do', etc. Opening doors, helping with carrying packages, buying a woman flowers, paying for the first date (especially if the man asked first), walking on the road side of the sidewalk, etc. comes out of respect.
Unfortunately, since men misunderstood what women meant as 'equality', they threw out those things that show respect.
Look at older men (those in their 80s) and how they treat women and compare that to younger men. The older men have it right, as far as I am concerned. They show respect to women, whereas the younger men (not all of them, but a lot of them) show very little respect toward women, seeing them only as something to fulfill their sexual needs.
Women have a long way to go before they are treated well, but I'm not going to hold my breath waiting because I don't see it happening. Women will always be seen as sexual toys first and foremost, and then maybe, just maybe, as the relationship grows, the man will see her as a human being.0 -

Wow. Well, women just want cake and eat it too. Women who demand respect will get it. It's a sad fact that most do not because they are insecure. There's a reason that there are about 9 women for every man on MFP. Most women are rather vain and would rather be beautiful than smart or successful. If women didn't put up with being treated as objects, they wouldn't. But they get their ego boost from being sexually desired.
See, you aren't the only one that can make wild generalizations about the opposite sex.0 -

. "Here you bust your butt right along with me and then I get to be the boss"
Or how about when they both work but SHE does all the housework...hmmmm?
Nu uh I don't think so.0 -
Well, he's probably doing all the yard work. Cleaning up dog crap, fixing everything that breaks and doing all the "man stuff" that every woman thinks guys could and should know, like we all go to man school to learn all that stuff.0

Hi, what language are you speaking? I see no racism here and this isn't a thread about religion so whatever the Mormon says doesn't matter lol. I want to poke my effing eyes out right now with that typing. If for some reason it's an actual language being spoken that I don't know about than forgive me lol.0 -
Btw my brother is the meanest baddest Italian guy you'll ever meet and he buffs the s*** out of his nails, they are shinier than mine have ever been even with a top coat and shine base lol.0

I think what you are asking for is positive discrimination. That's not equality. I'm fine with opening my my doors, carrying my bags or anything. I would only think less of a man when he doesn't help me when I'm crashed under heavy bags, when he doesn't hold the door after he goes through it first and slam it on my face (if that ever happens, I'll probably kick that person's *kitten*), or he leeches in a relationship. All of them goes for a woman as well, I'd pissed off with a female friend if she does those. I would be pissed off when he avoids sharing any responsibility in a relationship, but then again I've never been with such a guy. It's a personality issue, not a gender issue as I've seen as irresponsible females.
Seeing women as an object for sex only is another issue though. That's not about being a man, that's about being a douche bag and whereas men are welcome in my life, douche bags aren't.0 -
Men are scared. Men are ego-driven. Because we don't or may not feel confident in our heart-of-hearts we do things to mask - to hide our insecurities. Most men I know think they're confident or adjusted or secure. Most men are liars to themselves.
If men decided to crave a woman - not in a sexual way but in an intimate way - if men learned to cherish intimacy over sex or mating, there'd be more 'good men' out there.
My $.02
No...i'm not gay. Or metro. Or feminine.
Yes, I know how to identify the colours "coral", "Plumb", and "sage" - and I know cutting hair in layers can build body. And...I give the women in my life make-up advice because I just seem to sorta know how to do it.
I also like to shoot. blow stuff up. ride motorcycles - and crash them (ask me to see the vid of my crash).

diz iz so racialist. jst coz man say fing bowt gurlz jst probs meen dey fance u! and iz not g*y.
mormon LDS sez man beta so u shud respekt dat view,
This is so sexist. Just because a man says something about a woman just probably means they fancy you! and isn't gay.
Mormon latter-day saints says that men are better so you should respect that view.i didant sai it woz racist, 'racialist' lick sexsist. Morman LDs sai man >womane so u av 2 not diss da man. so no it int abot religon but if u lk 2da bibal u wont go 2fr rong..get me? i fink mayb u gota fink of wot u sai b4 u go dis ppl religan.
I didn't say it was racist, "racialist' like sexist. Mormon Latter-day Saints says man is greater than woman so you are not able to diss a man. So not, it isn't about religion, but if you listen to the bible you won't go wrong, you get me? I think maybe you have to think of what you say before you go diss peoples religion.

I FOUND that man who opens the door, and tells me I'm beautiful & not hot. My ex treated me so badly, and then this guy kinda just fell into my lap. He is so open, and kind and generous. Something I am not used to. It's so wonderful!0 -
Being an old guy who was raised to be a gentleman, I have to comment.
First, I don't see anything wrong with a man going to a tanning salon or getting a manicure, especially a manicure. When I see the condition of some men's hands and nails, more men could use a manicure.
I am very disappointed in the social skills of young men and would like to give an example. It was senior prom weekend and a group of high school seniors, young men with their dates, entered a resturant where my wife and I were dining. The girls looked beautiful in their formal gowns. The boys looked like creatures that crawled out of a dumpster. Their attire was universally similar, tattered jeans, sneakers, rock concert tee shirts, ridiculous looking hats, and a tux top coat. They looked disgusting!!! I asked one of the girls why she would go to something as special as the senior prom with a guy who was dressed the way her date dressed. She looked at him and shrugged her shoulders. None of the boys opened the door, or even held the door open for the girls, nor did they seat the girls at the dinner table. In short, they don't know how to act like gentlemen, their parents haven't taught them how to act, or dress properly, and their dates, the young women, condone their actions.
Women have stopped acting like ladies, and therefore don't insist men treat them as such. I'm not sure which happened first, women not acting like ladies, or bad behavior on the part of men. And men don't know how to act like gentlemen. Learning social skills starts at a young age at home and those skills have stopped being taught a long time ago.
What happened to pride in appearance, especially amongst young men?
Lastly, one of my daughters went on a date with a young man who did act like a gentleman, opened the doors for her, sat her at a resturant table, helped her with her coat, etc.. She never went out with him again. Why? Because he was too nice. Sad, very sad on both their parts, his for being rejected for treating a girl like a lady, and hers for not expecting to be treated like one.
Then there is speech. I'm not a dude!!! And I do want to understand what someone is saying. If someone can't communicate in an intelligible manner, best they learn some language skills or like the unemployed guy, that will be thier fate.0 -
As soon as I read that opening post I knew that within half a page, people would be going on about sexism and equality.
This has all been heard before. Some think they should be treated like a 'lady', some take a more feminist view on it, and the rest don't give a ****, like me. I open doors and carry bags and such like for anyone, regardless of sex, because it's polite.
Personally, my other half only opens the door for me so he can grab my backside as I walk past, and I still fall for it after 5 years.0 -

blaming hip hop is like me saying that all metal worships satan. you cant blame an entire sub-culture.
well the metal side that does worship satan (i.e. King Diamond, etc) are a very very sub culture....the covnersation in the OP is basic garden variety hip hop.0 -
I know you are but what am I?0

UGH! Please don't get me started on this topic. I am single and have to date guys like this all the time! Needless to say there are not a lot of 2nd dates.:ohwell:0

I hear dumb *kitten* from people all the time...men and women. The world is just full of morons.

Someone on this board posted a while ago about how she won't let her husband lug the heavy stuff because she considers it an extra boost to her workouts. I doubt she's the only one.
As for the doors, I have men actually run in front of me on a regular basis just so they can hold the door open. My boyfriend will stand holding a door for complete strangers (men and women) for several minutes if a lot of people are coming through. Maybe it's the people you know and the places you go that are the problem.0 -
I think the pc crowd and the "touchy-feely" liberal elite-ists have contributed to the wussification of men. Notice how the media rail against guys who exhibit traditional masculine traits. Or it could be their mothers raised them that way.0
