Weirdest comment... ?

As we lose weight, tone up, or change in whatever way that we do in this process the comments/compliments come pouring in. Some of us LOVE that, some of us HATE that. The other day I had the strangest comment that I have had to date...

"Amber! You've been losing weight! A LOT of weight! ... Your husband must be so excited!!"

Hahaha NOT "Amber, YOU must be happy" or "Amber, YOU must feel better" nothing like that... the first thing out of their mouths was how happy my husband must be!
I told the husband about it and he just laughed and said (like a good boy:wink: ) "I'm excited for YOU, I'm happy that YOU are getting healthier. But I was excited to have you BEFORE you started losing weight" :blushing: He's pretty awesome!

So, what about YOU? Have you had a compliment, comment or the like that left you shaking your head and saying to yourself...?"Now, wait a minute.."?

You're quite pretty for a redhead!

    or

I remember you when you were young - I never thought you'd turn out to be so pretty

    or

(following a hospital procedure) you have a really beautiful bladder.
  • Ok so this isn't weight loss related... but hilarious none the less.

I have birthmarks covering most of my body, and when I'm cold they become very noticeable. Well one year I was at a Christmas party and I was wearing a short sleeved shirt and was FREEZING so my arms were quite red. A lady came up to me and said "What happened to your arms" (this is a common comment) and I answered with my usual "Oh, they're just my birthmarks." She looked a little disappointed but then seemed to perk up and said "Well, they're very festive!"

    ...:ohwell:

Really? Still one of my favorite stories though

Couple of years ago I lost a lot of weight (training and running) and I got two strange comments:

    - Who are you having an affair with? You look like you are glowing from "new love"!
    - Do you have cancer?

Both were a surprise and a shock!

    WOW at both.

I get people that ask me if I eat, or if I am anorexic...I find it really insulting.

:explode: I HATE the anorexic comments... especially because I am 166 pounds and 5'3" for goodness sake! "You are getting too skinny" HA!!! Really? Compared to WHAT?

Having an affair with MYself is how I would respond to that one!

Just this past Saturday, someone I hadn't seen in possibly years looks at me and instead of saying hello, he goes "Where's the other half of you?" I was like "Um, what?" and he says "You look like a stick".

Times like that I have to bite my lip to not make a fat comment, since he is overweight. UGH. So rude.

I was leaving the office for a run and one girl says "Why are you still going running, you're already slim" I was like (in my best b!tchy voice).. "uhh because I like running and not everyone works out to lose weight".
  • I've gained weight, just lost body fat, and someone told me I was deteriorating. um...... he then went on to he meant no harm, that it wasn't my weight he was referring to, but my muscles.... because that's not more offensive?!?

Here's a conversation between me and my boyfriend about my weight loss

Him: "You've lost so much weight you look like a lesbian!"
Me: "How exactly does losing weight make me look like a lesbian?"
Him: "Well, your pants are getting really baggy and hanging off your butt."
Me: "You do realize that not all lesbians wear big pants, right?"
Him: "Well, yeah. But, my mom's a lesbian, and she wears big pants!"

I love this one. "Why are you eating a salad, why are you working out, you are already in shape." Um, how do you think I got this way? I also intend to STAY this way.

This one came from my mom's neighbor

"Oh my! Look at you! Hope a big gust of wind doesn't come by, you might just blow away!!"

I'm 5'10, 164 lbs....I don't think I'm going to be blowing away anytime soon. The worst part is, the woman had no idea why both my mom and myself were giving her the "FFS" face.

Not really a weird comment, but more annoying.... I walk 2 miles during lunch every day, and after my walk today I grabbed my salad (YUM!) and sat down at my desk. A male co-worker, who could use a few walks AND a salad, says to me "You did all that walking so you could have a salad?"

    YEP!

Usually I would.....I guess it was just the tone in their voice as they said it.... felt more like 'you are so pretty now' ...as if I wasn't before. *shrug*

**also the "thank god" seems kind of uncalled for to me. This was someone I don't really know, just pass by on occasion going to work

The one I get most commonly is how great I look "for a mother of three". Can't I just look great period? haha.

Since my weight loss "You're husband must LOVE this new look" or "I know your hubby's happy". As if he wasn't as happy before, ugh!
