So I gave my opinion on this advice from studies.
You know what they say about opinions.
YES! I totally get it now and since I gave mine I guess I will bare the beating of others. It could be nicer though.
Clearly, one person's opinion trumps scientific studies any day of the week...
Except Sunday. Because that's football day. And that wouldn't be prudent...
Clearly my opinion is based on my own study of my own body so no matter who or what intelligence who studies Joe Blow their findings on what worked was not fact for me. Would be nice if it did.
so is not fact for me.
No study can be performed on an individual because we all have a unique set of variable factors. This is why studies use not only groups, but control groups as well.0 -

Ah, see, I didn't know this was a getting naked thread. If I'd known, I would have put on my sunday knickers.0 -
LOL I think I will go take a nap and stay way from giving personal opinions or advise.0 -

They can be done but would be pointless if you want a variable TOTALLY agree. Variable factor...I like that one.0 -

I was going to talk about case studies. Piaget. But really, what's the point? My brain cells are committing suicide, as I read this thread.0 -
Just like a study says Susie at the same height, weight, and lets throw in body fat will burn fat at the same rate if running the same distance and time as me? Not fact because if Susie does the exact same physical activity as me the same duration but I am more advanced and it is easier for me surely she should be burning MORE because she has to work harder to do it? That is the kind of things I am talking about.
Now say I am not smart or making an ignorant statement but it makes since to me more then the study.
You seem to misunderstand what the point of conducting studies is.
if the imaginary study you posted was ever actually conducted, the conclusion would not be 'Suzy burnt 400 calories doing exercise and therefor so will pinkenvyx and everyone else' it would be more along the lines of 'exercise burns calories'.
They are not tailored to you specifically as that would be pointless, they are done to show trends in a range of people, once these trends are seen regularly in a significant amount of people this is when it can be offered as a fact.
The fact that you were not personally in any study is irrelevant and has no bearing on the legitimacy of the findings.
If you want to go help out why not volunteer for medical research!!0 -

So you mentioned taking a nap earlier... just how long have you been awake?0 -
This is just too much.
As someone who works in research in the emergency medicine department at a well-respected Ivy League university, I am completely in awe of what just happened.
On the other hand, I can go tell my boss that my work is meaningless and take the rest of the week off (with pay, of course?)0 -
different things work for different people, so you just have to figure out what works for your body and your lifestyle0

You would make a beautiful CIA agent or Bond girl !!!!! And apparently all studies do defy the odds when it comes to you, because I thought you were only 20!!!! Good job holding on to what you got girl!!!!
Ruth::blink::
sorry it that was off in think to much land, it is from a statement the CIA said but changes to suit how I feel about them. The exact
statement they gave was:
Studies in Intelligence
All statements of fact, opinion, or analysis expressed in Studies in Intelligence and CSI Publications are those of the Authors. They do not necessarily reflect official positions or views of the Central Intelligence Agency or any other US government entity, past or present. Nothing in the contents should be construed as asserting or implying US government endorsement of an article's factual statements and interpretations.0 -

Yes I prefer to listed to uncle bobs friends wife's postman who's sister cut out beans and lost 10 kilos in a week.
Feel free to read a study and make your own conclusions as to what to do with the info but to simply write them off as useless as it was not yourself who was studied is a little short sighted.
http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/you-are-not-different.html
I didn't say they were useless but I will say taking them literal or repeating them as fact to others is wrong.
But they are fact...That's what facts are...:noway:
Shhh... facts are scary to some people...0
