A purse that costs more than $50...and THAT is pushing it! I dont see the need in paying $300 for a purse, seriously. Lawn service either! I love doing yard work so, if I can move, i will do it! :)

I used to not pay for my dag to get bathed...I could do it myself and he would look jsut a purty. BUT, with all the hair this dog has and not having a "drain" prepared for that, it is SO MUCH EASIER to pay the groomer to bathe him and blow out the undercoat of hair!! :)

I won't pay for: sex, brand name clothing at full price, professional hair color

I will pay for: good quality professionally fitted running shoes, quality low-salt cat food for the pets (previous pet suffered from terminal kidney disease due to poor quality food - I didn't know about the salt issue back then)

wow, no one else says cigarettes? Are you all smokers??!

I have never smoked one in my life so it doesn't even occur to me.

Although both my parents smoke and I will not/ have not ever picked any up for either of them. My dad has MS and I've been know to pick him up beer, but I won't get cigarettes.

I won't pay for cable tv, that is what Red Box, Netflix, Hulu ect. are for.

I won't pay for limited data, roaming, long distance (domestically) or limited talk minutes. I've had unlimited everything on my phone since...well forever. Yeah, it's a little more expensive per month, but I got hit with a $1200 roaming bill once in the late 1990's. Never again!

    Landline.

Dirty electricity. We have the option to pay a separate rate through my utility to get clean energy. It's a little more, but electricity is so cheap it is nearly free here anyway. My July utility bill was $31 (1200 sq ft apartment).

I will never, never, never buy anything sold door-to-door. I don't care how awesome it is, if it is sold door-to-door I'll just have to live without.

    Edited to add:

    What I will pay for:

Salon services. Nothing beats feeling pampered!

Awesome experiences such as vacations, concerts, IMAX movies, festivals and events, wine country tours, limo rides and basically anything that is novel and fun.

Excellent quality clothes, shoes, accessories and sports equipment. Usually the designer items are of the best quality, but not always. I think it is important to feel good and comfortable in your clothes and that the clothes look geed beyond the first washing. With sports equipment, poor quality= poor performance.

Good quality electronics. My computers are Macintosh not because I'm all about labels, but because they are just better quality products. My phone is a Samsung Android phone, because it is just a really good quality phone.

And lastly, I'm more than happy to pay for good quality restaurant meals. It is rare that I end up at the big chain places by choice. I'm always on the lookout for a little place that promotes organic and healthy ingredients. Yes, it is expensive, but the quality and service always make it worth it.
  • Unless I've got a REALLY special event coming, I won't pay for housekeeping. I get so self-conscious about a stranger coming in and seeing my house so embarassingly messy, that I'll clean it before they come over, which totally misses the point.

Also, any potentially painful beauty treatment (eyebrow tweezing, leg/bikini waxing, tanning beds - I burn super easy). It's just not worth it to hurt on a regular basis for something my husband probably wouldn't notice anyway.

I will pay for designer purses(I love them), haircut, gadgets, and all vehicle maintenance.

I won't pay for sex, manicure(learned how to do it myself), cable tv , expensive clothes and shoes for young children, housekeeping services, apps, or expensive wines.
  • I will pay the humaine society or SPCA for a pet..rescued cats are always so much nicer...My sister and an exboyfriend paid $200 for a kitten from a pet store...he seems pickier then other cats- like he knows he was a $200 cat...

I pay for expensive nail polish because it last longer and this is cheaper then getting my nails done. Good coffee is worth the cash so I would pay for kicking horse brand!

I don't think I will ever buy home gym equipment like treadmills ect. They take up too much space and I don't think i would use it as much as I would at a gym. I would buy things like a few dumbbells, barbells, bands because i would do exercise during commerical breaks!

I am super cheap so there is almost nothing that I would pay for.

    I will pay for food

Then anything else: If I can make it or if it can be made --> I will

Ditto. I am super frugal....so I make what can and do what I can myself(minus car/truck repairs that we don't have tools for). I also agree with a previous poster that I have or never will NEVER buy a pet from a breeder or pet store.
I mow my own grass, cut/color my own hair(plus my kids and hubby), paint my own nails, paint my own rooms, shovel my snow, and clean my house.
  • I personally won't buy bottled water from a supermarket...unless it's part of a meal deal or I have no other drink with me. I'd rather just bottle the water from my tap tbh.

    Won't pay for:
    Yard service
    minor home and car repairs
    housekeeping
    brand name clothing/accessories
store detergent (make my own, so unless the hubby gets the free and clear stuff for his clothes because he prefers it, we have homemade)
    cell phones magazine subscriptions
Manicures/pedicures/massages (I just don't get them unless I do it myself. Trust issues I guess)
Sex goes without saying (wouldn't buy any drugs, etc either, obviously)

    Will pay for:
fabric for misc. projects (even if it ends up sitting for a long time before I get to it)
Lysol cleaning projects----> more expensive, but recently saved me from having to buy a new toilet when all other cleaning supplies failed to make it look clean!
  • Won't......
-Expensive haircuts/dye....I do it myself, have a friend help or I go am a hair model at a local high class salon school.
-mani,pedi, wax...I can do that myself.
-expensive grocery stores that give you gas points....do the math people Walmart and paying for your own gas it cheaper every time.
-kids haircuts...once they can sit still that is. My 8 year old I cut his hair. My 1 year old, take him until he is three, then I will do it.
-Pricey shoes-unless running shoes you can get really cute shoes at Walmart and Payless. It pains me to spend $30 on shoes.

    I Will.....
    -races, 5k's...
-Expensive food from time to time(resteraunts)
-gym- now my gym is cheap and only $19 per month
-tanning- but that is included in my gym membership

I always look for good deals on EVERYTHING:)

    Credit card interest
    Bottled water

But there are plenty of things I pay for that others don't. I ♥ having a maid service.

    I don't pay for
    haircuts
    taxis
own car (I do hire one to go on holiday)
pre made cat food (only good quality is dried and he can't have that due to bladder related health issues - I get tinned fish and fresh meat and finish with a vitamin supplement)
    mani/pedicure
    phone apps
gym membership - easier to workout at home, especially when husband is out as then as I couldn't get a babysitter
gardening - I have a husband for that!
washing/ironing - I only iron the very basics and I have a dryer so the washing is easy (and I do 20+ loads a week)

I would say public transport but I do get a bus maybe 3 or 4 times a year.

I do or would get if I could afford it
    a cleaner - I would love a cleaner
cable tv + tivo - we don't actually watch much but I want what I want when I want to watch it

    Won't
    Mani pedi for sure
Labor to renovate the house we are buying (fully intend on installing tile, ripping out walls, serious landscaping, exterior painting, refinishing cabinets, drywalling)
Party planning the bigger events we throw - love doing that stuff :)
Rather make my own curtains and throw pillows
Also cable! Screw that, I have a great TV and a digital antenne = 6 channels and Netflix/HULU saved me $90.

    Will
Can't wait to pay for a housecleaner
    $200 Haircuts
    Unlimited everything on iPhones
    Vacations and travel
    Good camera equip.
    Organic foods
  • Reading what other people won't pay for makes me feel spoiled...LOL. I get mani/pedis every two weeks...we have a lawn service to cut our grass...another lawn service to fertilize it a few times a year...and we get regular stops from the bug man because I hate spiders and ants.

Oh well! To each his own! :drinker:

I don't pay for lawn care although when it's 115+ degrees out and all the cards and flyers show up on my door, I am tempted. I don't pay for mani/pedis. I did the acrylic nails once at the urging of a friend and it ruined my nails.

I will pay for expensive bags & shoes in classic styles. Heels are less painful the more expensive they are and typically items last longer the more you pay for them so you get more per wear dollars out of them then the cheap stuff that falls apart after two washings.

I will also pay for season tickets to NHL and MLB.
