    Snow = Ew.

I can't ride my bike or do much of anything in winter.

Mind you, I love wearing the dark clothes and fleece pullovers and love watching the snow fall while I'm indoors. I just don't like being in the middle of it. And living in Nova Scotia doesn't help much either. We get the worst winters and blistering summers. I decided to skip sunscreen on a trip to the beach one day and I ended up with first degree burns. I looked like a lobster covered in boils for a good month.

    :-)

Must say...I am happy I live in the south. I don't do snow or cold. Visiting my brother out in Denver is a summer only trip. You couldn't pay me to go out there when it gets cold. LOL.
Been there done that with the sunscreen...been a while though. My hubby ended up with sun poisoning the last time we went to the beach....that's the last time he forgot to put on sunscreen...he never wants that to happen again. We almost took him to the emergency room it was so bad.

I did it 25 years ago on a beach in San Diego, just my shins/calve/ankles. I has blotchy brown skin there to this day, permanent scarring from sun poisoning. We keep a close eye on them watching for signs of melanoma.

    Sun poisoning is no joke...

That sucks. My hubs skin went back to normal but we keep a watch on it anyway...he has a lot of moles and freckles that we have to watch anyway.

I've made it my goal to be below 150 by Sunday. I've been working out for about an hour and a half a day. My muscles are so sore I've been shuffling around my appartment like a penguin. But I know it will be worth it...

I want my demonia boots to zip all the way up my calf. I haven't been able to wear them since I bought them a year ago because my calves are too damn fat. It feels good to be on the path to a lifetime of fitness. I've learned through all this hard work that there's no excuse for obesity. There's other healthy ways to deal with emotional issues other that stuffing your face with a Big Mac.

My husband and I went to a local goth club a year ago for a halloween bash and when I saw the event pictures the following day I was shocked. I was huge, and I mean HUGE. I looked rediculous in the outfit I was wearing. I had tipped the scales at 211 lbs. I weighed more than my husband, and that was truely depressing. I think my lowest point was when a hostess at a local restaurant asked me when I was do. I was mortified. I mean, who asks that anyway? Isn't there an unspoken rule that if you don't know you don't ask?

Anywho, I got a Buffy the Vampire Slayer box set for Christmas this year. (Woot!) Anyone else get anything cool?

    :-)

The (smart) guy rule is: Do not mention anything about a woman's pregnancy unless A - she has brought it up,,, or,,, B - you see actual parts of another human being sticking out of her.

I got nothing for christmas,,, seriously, not a $%* thing,

LOL! Wish I could find a pic of me during my 9th month. I was a semi...no wide turns. I was all out front, if you looked at me from behind I didn't look preggers...turn to the side and it looked as if I had swallowed a watermelon.

You're doing great! At least you can wear those boots...they never fit me :grumble: There are no goth clubs near me at all...I'd have to go into downtown Atlanta (which can be pretty scary).
This Christmas I once again got my fave thing in the world-Banes and Noble gift cards! I ususally shop at my local little bookstore but sometimes I need a wider variety.

Freakin' cold is how I'm doing. Why does winter happen? Why? Wah.

I love winter...not the cold...but the clothes. All the lovely dark colors...navy, hunter, plum, sliver, and of course black....which I stock up on now because in a few months it's all pastels....which are not bad...but wash me out and I look sallow.
I despise summer. Unless I slather on spf 80 I burn horribly. Granted I put on 45 daily...but the beach is not my friend, lol.
What's the temp up near you? It's currently 29* here...Georgia doesn't usually get this cold until late February.
It's about 25F here right now. The low on Sunday is supposed to hit -2F. So yeah, COLD :(

I hear that... I can't find boots to go around my massive mancalves. Once upon a time (and even then I had to punch new holes in the buckle straps to get them to fit), but ah, those days are far far away. One of these days I'll get another pair and rock 'em something fierce.

AND I hear the "feels good getting healthy" thing. It's a brilliant day when you realize you really do have control over your situation. :D

Cool stuff for Christmas, hmm... my Mum got me "Wicked Plants" by Amy Stewart, and a leopard print Snuggie. SNUGGIES FTW!! :D Outside of that, I don't think I got anything particularly *****in'. Just some delicious grubbin' and quality time with the fam :3

They closed schools last night....the 'snow' is just now starting to come down.

Boots don't fit me because my calves are small...I'm pretty tiny all around. I still wear a 14 in girls pants (just a little bit of muffin top but that's due to pregnancy crud.

Eh, my calves are huge because I did a little too much jump-roping in grade school. Even at my lowest weight, I had a hard time finding boots that are wide enough in the leg -_-

Kind of a bummer. Roping is such great cardio... and very meditative once you get the rhythm down.

I should get back into it. We had teams at my school and that was fantastic. Now i'd have to double up on sports bras in order to keep from bouncing, lol.

    How's everyone doing?
I spent my extended weekend (we had closures due to snow) watching all 6 of the Harry Potter movies. I enjoy the films but they are once again crappy compared to the books (as all movies are when based on a novel).

I'm doing awesome though I almost barfed after a workout today. It's one of those days where I just wanna lay around in my PJ's and do NOTHING. Losing weight is hard, especially as you get closer to your goal weight. Hopefully this will be the first time and the last time I ever have to put myself through this.

I can't live on 1200 calories forever. I need FOOD! Not carrots or rice cakes. FOOD! Oh, glorious food.

    ;-)

1200 isn't that bad if you can do lots of veggies and fruits or soy.
Sorry to hear about the almost barfing...when I run I get kind of nausiated but I just try to push though it.
My entire weekend was in pjs...I wasn't going anywhere so why bother getting out of comfy clothes.
As for goal weight....it took me months to lose the 5 pounds to get to my weight...I'd still like to get my waist to lose a few inches...durn baby...created excess skin, stretchmarks,my abbs ripped, and general sagging, yuck.

For the square in the room, (me), somebody please deliver a short treatise on your definitions of 2 terms, and possible compare/contrast.

    Goth - Emo.

    Discuss!

(I like to play and sing old Cure songs - but I do it with a Merle Haggard country twang. Am I going to hell? )

To me there is a huge difference between goth and emo...of course my defenition of goth is usually different from other goths. The best thing I could do is direct you to this site...
    http://www.trystancraft.com/martha/motifs/index.html
at least from the 'goth' standpoint I fit myself with the faerie/antique goth...my hubby is more of a mall goth (think black pants/black shirt/black shoes...ect).
Emo (short for emotional) to me is more of the 80's fashion clothing (minus the bright colors) and more gloomy-think 80's early 90's skate board apparel. Goths might be somewhat gloomy but it's not their sole purpose to be grumpy.
Also, check out www.viona-art.com she has some of the best discriptions of Victorian Goth in her photos.

Hey, just found this thread! Don't know if anyone is still around, but I have a question for the Steampunkers. I've always been intrigued by the style but I've never had the energy to put into it's assembly. I was just curious what some 'key' peices are? I actually have an overbust corset that I thought I could use as a starting point. Any thoughts?
