Lately movies with people dying (or TV shows)...just basically that whole emotional scene as their spouse/child/parent etc dies...ugh turns me into a big baby.

The Little Mermaid an Mulan. Fu@k you. It's the truth.

TLM: when King Triton finally realizes that his little tadpole is all grown up and in love, and he finally helps her be human...then makes a rainbow for her wedding? I well up.

Mulan: after risking her life in her father's stead, enduring hardship, finding her own way in a man's world, and saving ALL OF CHINA, all she wants to do is go home and lay these accomplishments at her father's feet. And he dumps all that *kitten* to the ground just to hold her, because he is so thankful that she's alive? Yeah, verklempt.

Lion King does nothing for me, though.

Movies that are designed as tearjerkers make me laugh. I just see actors trying to be sad. It's the ones that lure me into relaxing my guard that get me.

Both movies feature female characters doing what they believe is right despite the wishes of their fathers, yet eventually seeking & winning approval and proof of paternal love. Hmm....

Steel Magnolias. I can't watch the scene in the cemetery.

The end of Shakespeare in Love.

Up. I did not see that one coming when I went to see it in the theater. I still sniffle every time I watch it.

Oh my gosh! I cry over every movie with any kind of sadness in it! Even if I've seen it several times already.

Well, my parents are both animators, expert swimmers and fisherpeople, and ninjas. My childhood was peaceful until I had to challenge my father for leadership of our pack.

    So. Much. Awesome!!

I'm not looking forward to the day when my daughter challenges me for the leadership of the pack. Although she has admirable skills in animation, ninja and swimming, I believe she is not patient enough to fish well. Perhaps she will surprise me... Still, I am honoured to have such a daughter.

  • Apollo 13 makes me cry every time!! Other people have laughed at me for it but I just find it so incredible. The odds against them were so high and they still made it home. The 4 minute black out bit at the end has me in floods lol

I watched the 1961 movie 'Whistle Down the Wind' the other day. It was on TV a lot when I was a kid, and it always made me cry. And made me cry again when I watched it. It's so understated - none of the Hollywood melodrama - and yet so very moving. Probably more so because of that. Melodramatic sentimentality tends to irritate me more than move me!

Not me, that show is pretty much ALL fake. They did a house locally here when I live and yes, it's all staged. Pretty much every last bit of it. The "actors" show up, tape a little and go home. they don't do ANY of the work.

Even the "move that bus scene" is staged. The family is not there and the bus is not there. It's all edited together in the middle of the week before anything is done.

Sorry if I spoiled it for everyone.

    I cry at:

    Dumbo
    Marley and Me
    Steel Magnolias

    I'm sure there are more.
