Is 10lbs off noticeable on your body?

Hello, I'm new here and relatively young. I'm not extra ordinarily overweight and I'm actually in an okay weight range for my age. However, I think there is room for improvement and I want to tone and lean up my figure. I'm thinking losing 10 pounds would be good but I'm wondering...how much of a difference does it actually make on your appearance and is it noticeable? Thanks everyone.

Toning will show the biggest improvement not weightloss.0

I think the smaller you are, the more it shows.
If your goal is to tone up, throw your scale out the window. There are many, many examples of folks on MFP who decide to tone up and end up a couple sizes smaller and 5 - 10 lbs heavier. Remember that muscle is dense than fat. Sort of like comparing a pound of marshmallows to a pound of chicken.0 -
I'm 5'7" female, 33. I started in the top of the acceptable weight range, and I have a naturally athletic build. I have only lost 7 pounds and I look similar in clothes, but without- totally different! I also have fit back into clothes that I gave up on last year. For me,10 pounds is at least one clothing size, a much leaner face, and a lot of the "extra" gone, especially in the abdomen. Everyone is different.0

If you're lean and already in the normal BMI then there is a good potential it will show with some toning exercise. If you look at my ticker, you can see the difference 5 pounds and some toning exercise did for my stomach.0

Go to the grocery store and pick up two 5lb bags of sugar....hell, yeah, you'll notice it! I've lost 16lbs and have dropped from a 18W size to a regular 16. My face is thinner....my waist is 3inches smaller. I'm looking forward to the next 20 lbs!!!!0

I think losing 10% of your weight you will "begin" to notice a difference in general. However if you are not overweight even just toning through lifting weights will allow you to see a difference in your figure without losing a pound0

To tone, start lifting weight, that's it.0

I lost 11 and i see huge diffenrce clothes that did'nt fit me before do now,plus i'm starting wear junios clothing ans i'm 42,cardio & toning is what i'm doing toning 3 days a week cardio 5 to 6 days.0

Toning is certainly very noticable.
10 pounds is much more noticable on a short person than a tall person. But I'm 5'10" and yes, ten pounds shows a lot. Especially when I'm thinner.0 -
I'm 5'4 and started at 151. I weigh 139 now on my way to 120 and people have been noticing. So yes!0

10lbs is a big difference, especially when you're short like me. It can be the difference between looking fat and looking sexy ;-)))0

When I first started there didn't seem that big of a difference from160's to 150's. If I lost 10lb now, you would definitely see it.0 -
I can tell it. I have only lost 11 lbs but am already in a size smaller jeans and shirt.0

I would say that if you are already okay with your weight then 10 lbs would probably show. If you're looking to tone then I would suggest any exercise where you use your own body weight; bands, yoga, pilates, etc. If you really want to lose that 10 lbs then give up wheat products, it will show in your core!0

I've lost 15lbs, and I can't really tell either - only by some clothes fitting better.
But my family and friends tell me they definitely see it, so that encourages me0 -
I think it depends mostly on your tone as well as height and proportions. When I lost my initial first 10 lbs I could barely tell, it was all evenly in my bottom half. When I lost the second 10 lbs I could really tell because it seemed to be coming from my waist and arms a lot more as I was toning a lot more, still even my dad can't see the 20 lbs though! I'm almost 5'8'' and pear shaped so I believe this effects it. Definitely take into consideration whether the scale is important or toning,and your height and shape.0

I am in smaller clothes but I have boobage that overshadows the bits that lost most inches
Still, I know there is less of me. Eventually it will show. Especially if I can manage to build in the exercise safely!

Yes, you will definitely see it if you are already within you range. I was 140lb and ideally want to be 120-126lb. So far I have lost 6lb and already there is a big difference. That spare tyre has now gone from being motorcycle tyre down to a racing pushbike size tyre only when I sit down. I could not do up my size 10 (UK) skinny jeans but now they are a perfect comfortable fit with no "muffin top" hanging over. My tighter T shirts now flatter me rather than showing off the roll of flab I was carrying around. I still have another 8-14lb to go depending on where my body decides is its peak and look forward to what that will look like. I will start some toning again after my vacation which I go on tomorrow (sunday ) for a week and theres no point in trying stick to "losing" while I will be eating out quite a lot, so I have decided to just "maintain" for this week. If I should happen to be able to "lose" while away with diet and any sporting activities we do then that will just be a bonus.0

10 pounds on me is the difference between fitting into my size 9/10s and not remotely being able to button them.0

I'm short (5'1), and 10 pounds meant a pants size for me. You CAN tell. Even I can see how small my waist is starting to look.0

I've got to agree with the people recommending lifting weights. That will probably be the most noticeable change you can make, aesthetically. If you want to burn fat while lifting, continue to eat at a moderate calorie deficit. You will not gain muscle but you will refine the shape of your body.

on a larger person, such as myself... i've not noticed a difference at 15 lbs gone.. but i'd imagine at a healthy weight range, 10 lbs would be noticable0
