Sorry to hear about your co-worker. This is a tough time for you - even more important for you to take care of yourself and stay strong.

smadag1 - good luck at the doctor's office! Don't worry if the scale reads differently than yours does at home. I've found that if I weigh mid-day anywhere I can be up at much as 6 pounds from the a.m.!! That's why I weigh-in first thing at work Friday morning (pre-breakfast and nekkid, lol) or wait till my Weight Watchers meeting on Saturday at 7 a.m. And, I know the doctor's office sucks ... especially this time of year ... but, any info you can pull out of him/her for weight loss advice would be awesome! :flowerforyou: Let us know how it went!!

msh0530 - I am SO sorry to hear about your loss. I think you did the right thing by taking a walk last night and the best thing by going in to work. I know it is hard, we had a similar experience at my workplace last year with one of our co-workers. It is so sad, especially when it's sudden like that. But, we spent the next week or so reflecting on the good things. Sure, there were tears, but there were also amazing memories and smiles. It helps a lot if you can reflect and remember. *Hugs* to you!!!!!!!! God bless you. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers - along with all the students.

Running late this morning had a car accident on my way to work and traffic was awful because of a police officer being killed on the interstate. I should have stayed in bed

I wanted to stay in bed this morning. I sure felt my motivation to get up and exercise go away. So I only got in half a workout but that is better than nothing. I am making a cake today it is my son's birthday today and my daughters tomorrow. I wanted to make cupcakes and my daughter wouldn't hear of it--I shouldn't have asked. I am going to make two round cakes from one mix and frost each one individually so that I don't have two whole cakes in the house. The weekend is going to be hard as we have two birthdays and then on Sunday we are having a party at my moms (more cake:devil: ). I can do it. I won't overindulge. :explode: I really want to have the scale read favorably on Monday--however my eating habits of late are not the best--I am tracking today to see how good I really can be.

I read this wrong earlier thinking that you were in traffic from the accident, not involved. I am so sorry. That is a day you wish you did stay in bed. Take care of yourself! It is good it is the weekend and you don't have to go in tomorrow.

I'm really sorry, and hope all goes well for you this weekend. What a rotten day for you!

I just got home from another long hard day. The students organized and led a memorial service for the teacher first thing in the morning. I had the pre-algebra quiz from hell, with one of the boys saying "I'm just gong to flunk. There's just no one here to help me anymore with her gone", and another sobbing uncontrollably, hitting his head on the desk, and breaking pencils because he couldn't do the math. Her husband and two sons came later to get her things, and being the only one that really knew her husband, I got elected to accompany them with the principal, asst. principal, and head of the special ed dept. Not easy. Monday morning I am taking three students with me to the funeral in a neighboring town. School will start at 11:30.

I have been MIA for the last couple of weeks. I think I might have found myself a treadmill. Now to get the money. Its a used one which is what i wanted. I'm hoping to walk on it while Im watching TV. When I first thought of this I thought it was a good idea but when I tell other people they just laugh and say that it will only last a little while.

I'm still sore from my procedure a couple of weeks ago. I'm hoping that the treadmill will get me back to walking because its pretty cold here in MN. I have 20 lbs to go I need to get the rest of this off.

my son starts wrestling Jan. 7th this will be his second year of wrestling. He is 8. My hubby talked to him about starting to eat right and exercising wtih us. He seemed like he wanted to do it so we are all going to workout together and eating right. I'm very excited because up till now its been just me. My goal is to start next week again. get myself off this plateau.

I have been using my treadmill consistently since I got it. At first I didn't have a TV by it, I read while walking but having the TV is soooo much better!! I DVR my favorite motivating shows--BL-- and watch while I walk and run. I have to turn up the volume a bit but it is sooo worth it. I am trying to work other versions of exercise into my routine now, but the TV and treadmill keep me very motivated most of the time. I think that if it is something you enjoy then you will continue on with it. I also made it my morning routine. First thing in the morning I get in my exercise clothes, take the dirty laundry downstairs, start a load and get on the treadmill. My most consistent part of the day!

WOW so much is going on with the Blues members. I hope everyone makes it through the rough patches ok. stay strong and take care of yourself and the ones you love.

I'd like to compliment Macaroni Grill. Went out to dinner with the in-laws last night to Macaroni Grill which I notoriously thought was an extremely unhealthy place to eat. Well they changed there menu and added a grilled section. Grilled chicken with veggies is 360 cals and grilled shrimp with veggies is 290 - they are cooked with EVOO. I was impressed with the new selection. Maybe the restaurant industry is taking a hint.

Tomorrow my husband and I fly back home to the UK. I'm going to pack my food this time around too. Not looking forward to another round of jet lag.

Good for you on your new morning routine!! I also love to watch tv while on the TM - try putting your closed captioning on (if available) you get so lost in your show, that your workout is over before you know it!!

What's everyone having for dinner? I made a new meal:
Easy Barbecued Pork Chops from Taste of Home Diet Comfort Foods
    http://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/Easy-Barbecued-Pork-Chops
Spinach Pear Salad from Cooking Light
    http://find.myrecipes.com/recipes/recipefinder.dyn?action=displayRecipe&recipe_id=231719
And I topped it off with a baked sweet potato. Yummy! I put the nutrition info for the recipes in the database.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

I have several shows that I DVR so walking I could most likely do that all day. I better text the gal and tell her I'm going to take it and my hubby will be buying me a treadmill and a new laptop. he he.

    HI Beautiful blues,

Today is always my 1st day of exercise for the week, and I'm so glad I made it to the gym. Last week I didn't go, and I felt that my "exercise" for the week didn't turn out how I wanted it to. I find that when I start my gym program good, it continues good, and ends good. I remember Jillian Michaels saying this in her workout video, about starting strong, so that you can finish strong. I'm feeling pumped.

I made a yummy dinner tonight which I'll share with you. I had baked salmon with grilled asparagus with garlic and olive oil, and mashed potatoes.

Here's to us, and to having a great week!!!

    Go Blues!

Ready for the weigh in tomorrow? I know I am not, I'll just blame it on TOM. I revamped my goals today--I have needed more concrete ones that I actually will follow. I just got home from a combined birthday party at my parents--cheesecake lasagne, chocolate cake. Amazingly I didn't eat that much. I actually can control myself!:noway:  I was actually not that hungry. Which is surprising to me, I haven't eaten that much today. Well time to get kiddos in bed! Happy weighin--I will think light thoughts for everyone tonight...

    Weigh in Day Blues!!

I am back home from my 10 day vacation. I use the word vacation loosely there because I was SO BUSY and even went into the office for a few days. Anyway, I am back home with my regular scale. And I am thrilled to report a loss of about 1.5 pounds!! I am so happy. I worked so hard over Thanksgiving and the vacation. I made good choices and logged my food. I exercised too. I am ahead of schedule for my goals now. I didn't expect to lose any over Thanksgiving.

Glad to be back. I hope all is well with everyone.

No change for me this week either. It seems I only lose about 1 week of each month...been going on for 6 or so months so sorry I don't help in those other weeks!

Ran 7 miles yesterday in the cold - mid 30s....didn't use the cold as an excuse just dressed warm and did it! Wasn't nearly as hard as the first time I ran 7....this weeks long run is 8 miles....strength and possibly step tonight...one side effect of the longer run is my heal spur rearing it's ugly head...will ice today and hopefully be able to do both but if not, I'll do strength anyway.

I am starting this week with a vengence. I am recommitting myself again. I don't want to be the one keeping our team out of the race. I have a lot of weight to lose so I can make a difference. I started a no excuses workout program this morning--to get myself out of the excuses!! I am also going to make my meals and snacks consistent so I know what to expect and exactly what is expected. So far so good--I am only one meal and snack into the day but I am making progress. My body has adjusted to my new schedule well, I was wide awake at 5:15 this morning whether I liked it or not. I changed the alarm laid back down and my eyes just wouldn't close. SO I was up and exercising. I would really like to lose 10% of my weight in the next three months. That is about 6 lbs a month. Not too bad at all. I know I can do that!!

No more excuses and fabulous weighins I can be proud of are coming!

Get better - if you can't exercise due to the pain that's ok allow yourself to heal - just be careful in your meal choices. You can do it!

Go Deb! That was a very nice post! You help give us all that extra fight. I am going grocery shopping this Thursday to re-stock my fruits and veggies. I noticed that the winter months are the hardest to get motivated. But these are the months we really need to be busting butt. What's the point in waiting for Spring if we aren't going to have our beach bodies ready for summer!

Why don't all of you join me?? I feel the need to be so much more accountable for what I am doing. It never hurts to take a step back and say why don't I do better.

Thanks for the support you guys. You have kept me on track! :drinker: :flowerforyou:
