A good idea to keep within calories is to log foods before you eat them, so you can see what the total calories come out to. It's also a great way of planning meals, and being prepared for what you are going to eat. Also, eating around the same things is a good idea so that there are no surprises. And as others have already said, not having Tempting foods around the house. I have even asked my husband not to buy any ice cream, because that is my weakness. Also, eating a big salad before a meal or lots of veggies will make you feel fuller. Olive oil is great because it's a healthy fat and makes people feel full. Having snacks in between meals is also good because it will keep the hunger stable.

Another thing that I do is when going to a party or get together, I already have in my mind a plan of what I'm going to eat while I'm there. Alot of the foods served are always the same.

    We can do this!

Good morning everyone! I think I have things figured out--maybe. I just did some arm and ab strengthening this morning. I am going to do upper body strength every monday, Wednesday and Friday. I am still working on my food--I guess I just need to plan ahead. Within the next month I should have the strongest upper body!! :smokin: Maybe even lose a few inches from my waist  Keep up the good work everyone, we are the best!

    Go Blue! :flowerforyou:

It's been quiet around here. I hope you are having a great weekend. It looks as though we are in for some more snow around here. I am glad it is for the weekend, I don't have to go anywhere! Found an upper body workout that I did this morning. Thanks exercise tv! I think I am addicted to exercise. I want to do it every day--I worked to hard to do that though. I think I will feel it in the morning. Now I just need to figure out my eating. I know I need to plan because I am too much of a see food eater. I will have to find myself some ideas on that this weekend. I also need to not bring anything bad in the house. I am allowing dark chocolate though as I find having a little bit of that keeps me from feeling deprived.
My husband had blood work done this week--his cholesterol levels are horrible and his vitamin d levels were extremely low. He is getting a supplement for the vitamin d but the cholesterol we need to work on. I don't know that he wants to make any changes. I think I will incorporate more beans into our meals so that they will clean him up so to speak. I wish I could help him but he doesn't want my help. It is frustrating. I have offered to exercise with him--I asked how many pushups he could do the other day and I think that is the first he has done in a while. He had to be sure that he could do more than me. Sorry got long winded again. I have to go clean house, it has gotten out of control over the last few days.

    Hi everyone,

Hope you are having a great day. It is very chilly over where I'm at, in NYC. I was at church all day with programming and now I'm so happy to be home in the cozy warmth. Today is my day off exercise, so I'm just going to relax and watch a movie.

Debnu- After giving birth and gaining 60 lbs I was found with high cholestorol, low iron, and low vitamin d. I guess vitamin d is sun, but it's not like I live in warm area where I can just be around the sun all the time. I'm also taking a gnc multivitamin.

I'm so looking forward to going to the doctor, because I will have lost alot of weight and I want to check my numbers again. I'm also pushing my husband to do a physical. He's one of those that tries to slide by with the yearly checkups, but I think they are very important.

    talk to you later,

Sorry I've been MIA. My husband and I are in Vienna, Austria this weekend visiting some friends and experiences the Christmas Markets. I won't be back for the Monday weigh in - kinda glad though, I've been allowing myself to enjoy all the different foods Austria has to offer  But I know I'll be back on track after we get home.

Stay warm everyone! It's snowing in Vienna right now!

I am very sore today. I bought a Tae bo dvd saturday and did one of the workouts and I have been sore ever since. I did 30 minutes on my ab circle last night. My legs are killing me. I broke out the tape measure today and I have lost one inch around my belly since I started even tho the scale has not moved in months. I can feel my body changing but the scale is not showing anything. I don't remember my other measurments but I can tell a little diffrence. Hopefully this new DVD will help jump sart the lose again. I am not sure what to do to lose the weeight around me bvelly I know you cant lose in specific areas, but maybe I am not doing something I need to be.

We all have our up and down moments. Just look at me this week... It is easier to get frustrated with ourselves and start thinking all or nothing. But the truth is that it is just one step at a time. Find something that you can do and do it. Try to eat one more vegie everyday. You can do that. Try just walking 5 more minutes or doing 10 pushups. You can do that. You have done so well and you will keep it off. You just need to find that motivation again. My new motivation is to prove to myself that I can loose weight without exercise. I mostly don't want to gain but so far I am doing it.

We all know how this is done, it just takes a little discipline, something I am not good at, but something I am learning.
Take care of yourselves and lets see a loss this week! :flowerforyou:

You have been a huge motivation for so many - including me! - and even in your down time, you still are. I think we all go through this in cycles, but I don't think it's something we will have to live with for the rest of our lives. Just like the decision to actually lose the weight this time has clicked in so many of our heads, I think that eating healthy as a lifestyle will also just click! In the meantime, look at how far you have come and what you did to get there. Trying p90x might be a great change for you to kick things back into gear! Sometimes it takes something new for us to get back in the groove.

Vent anytime! :flowerforyou: (We all need to!)

Happy almost-afternoon, beautiful blues!! :flowerforyou: I have a happy and I have a question.

First, my happy. I tried a new recipe on Sunday to have for dinner this week. I instead ate part of my dinner for lunch because I was so curious to try it. Here's what I did: 1 can of coconut milk, approx. 1 pound of boneless skinless chicken breast, a LOT of curry powder (yum!!!!) and 1/4 cup of Splenda. I put it in the crock pot on low for about 6 hours. I added the Splenda about halfway through when I tasted it and felt it needed a little sweetness. I think now it would actually be better had I added a little spice (cayenne pepper) instead ... but there's always next time! Anyway, I measured the mixture out into 5 even portions (not sure how much they are each) and put that on a bed of steamed brown rice. DELICIOUS. I am having a side of broccoli (an entire CUP for 30 calories!!!!) sprayed with a little I Can't Believe it's Not Butter. I am in love.

Now, my question. Two weeks ago I re-evaluated my diet and balanced each meal better, adding fruit in between meals. I also upped my exercise to twice a day, totally around an hour each day, 5 days per week. The first week I weighed in at WW, I dropped 4.2 pounds (my weight logged there is a little diff than here). This past week, I dropped 1 pound. I have four more pounds to go till I am down 50 pounds and at 230. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to drop those by Christmas. For the past two weeks I have eaten back most of my exercise calories - I ended up with between 100-180 left over each day that I did not eat back. This week, I was thinking of eating all of my exercise calories back ... OR ... eating none. Which do you think would be the best to try? What do you do?? :flowerforyou:

Sorry for the long post.

lcorrell, I would probably do both and see how you feel. Kinda like zigzagging your calories. If you find you are starving then I would eat more, if you find that you are full eat less and figure out what works best for you. That will give your body a jumpstart too just so it doesn't know what to expect.

    Good luck!!

I am just waiting on a few more weights, maybe I will get the chart up earlier this week. :flowerforyou:

P90X is intense and if you are struggling with getting motivated as it is, that's a tough one to start with....JMHO

Tough love post.....Don't you dare give up - don't use the holidays as an excuse just because "it's" there doesn't mean you have to eat it...family events can be killer and if you mess up and eat too much at one - work extra on your next workout and move forward. Don't allow the holidays to be a set back - enjoy the times! You know you can do it - you have before....

go back in your log and repeat a couple days that were successful...come up with a meal plan for the week to help you along...include snacks too.....well what are you waiting for get to it!

I would also try both- in regards to eating all the exercise calories or eating half and seeing the results.

For me personally, I don't eat all of the exercise calories because I don't wear a heart rate monitor and the calories that i input in here might not be all that accurate. But, if I've exercised and I'm still hungry at the end of the day, I try to go for a healthy snack like a veggie and a protein. I don't think you should be hungry- if you are, then something is missing.

And your absolutely right about losing weight on christmas and during the holidays- how it is about a lifestyle change. I have never tried to lose weight during the holidays, since I always thought that was a time to gain weight. But the holidays don't have to be a weight gaining time. It's about portion control and being good with the food all year long. This is really a good lesson for me.

    Have a good week all,

    We can do this!
