I love how this has gone from 'fat girls' thinking they are curvy to slim girls/the skinny fat crowd with no curves calling themselves curvy.

I'm thin yes. But I have very wide hips. Very large chest, and a tiny waist... thus ME being curvy.
How big are you up top, you dont look big too me.

Lol girl you sound bitter as hell. I haven't seen body shaming like that since...well... the last post like this came up. You're clearly dealing with envy; step off.

Wait wait wait. OP can tell all overweight people they aren't curvy, but this poster saying the OP's boobs look too small to be considered curvy in her opinion is body shaming?

    Double standard.
Exactly. 36DDD my *kitten*. I can see two pictures of the OP. The one in the mirror looks like she has a slightly padded bra on. You definitely don't see no DDD's when she is laying down. Where did they go????
Hazel, don't waste your time trying to defend your opinions. I too wondered what her chest size was when she told everyone she had a VERY LARGE chest. Like someone said before, you can be curvy thin or fat. If I had to describe the OP it would be "thin". Curvy is not the word that would come to mind.

K well, I've met Amber in person and seen her in various states of undress---I can assure you she's being honest about her bra size. Good Lord.

Your friend is not a very nice person. That joke so freaking offensive.

Just to clarify, she is about that weight but thinks she's "curvy". So it was a serious post for her.

she said smaller thinner less curvy girls are only wanted by dogs.

Id call that a serious post.

I have known enough heavier women who would tear up anyone thinner than them, and hid behind their insecurities with their larger breasts--breasts they had BECAUSE of heavier weight.
I never hate on thin people because I AM fat lmao. Unless they start acting like they are better than others just because of it. That's the impression I have been getting from her. Also I have been anywhere between 130-282 (pregnant with my huge son) and I have ALWAYS maintained a D cup. The only difference was my measurements around. Not all big girls have big boobs and not all small girls have small boobs. Don't forget that genes can also make a difference.

90% of the time when someone describes themselves as curvy I want to say:

    inigo.png

It seems we've gotten far away from what curvy actually is.

"Curvy" and "big boned" do not equal fat!

It's not easy being the answer for everything.
  • ok 2 things

    1) people who start threads such as this are attention seeking (i.e lady jane knows shes got a hot bod and wants the wooooorrrrrllllld to tell her.)

    2) The guys who lavish that attention on her say the most CRINGE worthy things.......

Number one is incorrect. I'm not really sure how I was seeking attention when I started this.

partially correct - you do have a hot bod.

coming from you my dear, that makes me blush! Thank you, and ditto!!

    Aw shucks. Thank you.

this picture goes from stick to curvy in a year and I gained weight and lost body fat, gaining defined waist, therefore - curves. And, oh mah goodness, a siize 2 WITH curves.... I know, but stranger things have happened.

    bodyfatdifference.jpg

But you're curvy in both photos. You're an hourglass in both, just smaller in the second. Really, someone who is truly stick straight can't exercise into an hourglass. You can't change bone structure. But, yes, you can be a size 2 or 0 or even 00 and be an hourglass (thus, curvy).

You can also be a size 20 and be an hourglass.

A lot of people (not you) are misinterpreting the OP. She didn't say you can't be heavier and have a curvy body shape. She's saying there's a difference between having curves (pear or hourglass) and just being overweight.

 Yowza, you look great!! And I LOVE How your weight is actually more even though you are smaller. Nice reminder to not pay that pesky scale too much mind.

BTW--you were curvy before now they are just more pronounced.

    Thank you

I'm not curvy- I am fat. I hate the way that word has been used to describe overweight women too!

Do I have great curves when I'm thin- yes (or at least I did from what I can remember!)

And for everyone harping on the boobs... you DO realize an hourglass is the waist/hip ratio, right? An UNUSUAL hourglass shape is one like Marilyn Monroe's, where bust size matches hip size, with a perfectly 10 inch smaller waist. The true measure is waist/hips, because that specifically correlates to evolutionary studies on fertility, attractiveness, and heart health.

Um ... no. An hourglass is bust/waist/hip measurements. A pear is a small bust with a small waist and large hips. There is a difference.

It's called an hourglass because the silhouette resembles the shape of an hourglass, which is large on top and bottom and tiny in the middle.

However, there is no breast size that defines hourglass. It's just that your waist has to be 10 inches or more smaller than your breasts and hips to be a true hourglass. Eight percent of women on the planet fit that definition.

This is me less than a week ago. I never considered myself "curvy" but I gained some much-needed weight after 12 months of on/off bulking. I lost body fat and gained some nice womanly curves in the process. I couldn't be happier with the new me.

P.S. I am a size 2 so even smaller gals can indeed be curvy. My body fat is ~19%.

I don't need to have studied any of that to know what an hourglass looks like.

No, I didn't. You said bust size doesn't matter when it's crucial to the shape. Please show me an hourglass that is narrow on top and wide on the bottom.

*scratching my head* Not sure how anyone else defines themselves really affects you, but OK. I am perfectly comfortable calling myself curvy, yet I still fall well within the obese category for my height (I am 5'1"). *shrug* A label is just that, a label, and only YOU decide how it defines you, or not...

Not that it really matters, but this thread has me really wanting to know what my real shape is and how I'd describe myself on a dating site. What are my options? I have never been able to figure out my face shape or body shape due to problems in my visual perceptions.

Bust size =/= band size. You can have a 36" ribcage with 36" hips and a 26" inch waist, but have an A cup...

I don't call myself curvy now. Just an hourglass with extra minutes! I'll be curvy once I shave those extra minutes off. :P
