What's YOUR NSV for today?

I, like millions of others who struggle with weight, realize how easy it is to fall into a slump and do a lot more whining about our problem than working towards our goals. I'm guilty of this from time to time and to the Nth degree. I had a hideous day at work and it destroyed my motivation to do anything physical afterward. So one of my two NSV's for today was that I utilized the full support of my MFP friends to get my lazz @$$ up and go for a walk and hit my Shake Weight and Ab Circle.
My other NSV for today (a little more disgusting than the above-mentioned NSV, but an NSV nonetheless) was that I noticed in the bathroom mirror before my shower that my 4th scar from my gall bladder surgery was visible. First of all, I'm sure you're like, "ew." Second, you're probably thinking, "who would celebrate visible scars?" Truth be told, my stomach looks like I was in a knife fight in a crack house from my surgeries. However, when I say my 4th scar was visible, that meant the giant "flesh awning" that covered it up has reduced in size to where the scar no longer lives in the dark under a bunch of flub. To finally be able to notice a slight reduction in the mess I call my midsection made pushing for tonight's little workout even more gratifying.
So for the millions of negatives we experience as people who battle with weight, I would like to know what little positive(s) you noticed in yourself today that will help you to continue on your quest for a happier and healthier you.

I've just returned from my kids' high school open house. This is my 7th year slipping in and out of the students' desks.. In the last 5 or so years I've had trouble fitting in the desks. Today, though not roomy, the desks didn't seem as small as they have recently.. Tiny NSV. My youngest will be a senior next year. I hope to cross my legs in those desks by then!0

Excellent! Oh, and I can totally relate to this... I've worked in public schools for a few years in different capacities (student teacher, behavioral specialist, etc.) and those desks totally suck. I hope you are able to run a lap on the seat of that desk by next year! Good luck!0 -

NSV=non scale victory
Mine is its TOM and I've not even thought of chocolate until I started thinking about what kind of NSV I might have had today. Usually by now I'd have eaten a whole huge Cadbury fruit and nut bar.0 -
I don't think the belly thing is disgusting, be proud! Mine is that I biked to work today (18 miles).0

My NSV for today was my run being easier than it was yesterday. I'm using "Ease into 5k" to get back into running which uses interval training. The times seemed to go faster and I was getting farther with each stride. It made it feel attainable... small victories are what gets us through day to day0

Today I had the hungries--- you know that feeling where you just feel really really hungry? That was me all day. And, I wanted sugar more than anything. But.... I didn't cave in. I drank more water and ate the healthy meal plan that I laid out for myself.0

I really, really didn't feel like going for a run. But I did anyway, and that always feels better than the feeling you get when you don't feel like exercising and don't exercise. If that makes sense.0

I get this 100% - I was having a really bad day, no motivation etc. my running plan had me down for an easy 30 minutes, I ended up doing a tough 50. Yeay me!!!!0

aced the exercises which gave me trouble before on the P90x Leg & Back workout (this was my third), and after reading the thread about how difficult the pistol squat is, tried one.. and no, I didn't manage to do it, but the strength was were, the balance gave me trouble. and I will figure that out in the next days0

My NSV is that even though my weightloss has stalled for 9 months I have STILL carried on with staying within my cals and exercising regularly. That to me is amazing!0

My nonscalevictory was actually lastnight. My 17 yr old daughter got he results of a biopsy that was taken on her back. It wasn't exactly good news. She has cancer and it has involved one lymphnode.
The prognosis is good, but she will have to be a lab rat for a while. Poor kid...just starting her senior year in highschool....
BUT... to deal with this blow (which is on the tail strings of my breast cancer, and deaths of a few friends and their children) ALL I WANTED was a LARGE philly steak pizza from dominos........A tub of icecream and some candy! and chips of course......
I instead went to the fridge, got two eggs and the bread and made a breakfast for dinner.... eggs on toast...it filled me up, and didn't add a TON of calories to my day. I was still short 500+/- calories....
we still need to deal with the cancer issue, but I won't deal with it with food..........0 -
I am SO glad to be reminded of NSV. It feels so liberating to ride my bike, and like most things in life, I need to do it NOW. I was hit by a car while riding in the bike lane, years ago, and fear kept me off a bike, until a friend had an emergency that demanded I ride his bike for help. Why would I wait to do something that feels so good? Plus, I do not have to feel like I am being judged, when I want to be invisible -- riding my bike, I'm moving too fast, and too sleekly, for anyone to have time to judge. I ride at least 6 miles, every day, working up to 12 miles, before the snow flies. My NSV is getting out and riding, pedaling all the way, never stopping or coasting, my NSV is the exhilaration I feel!.0

My NSV today was changing out my navel ring to a smaller length - I've lost so much fat in my stomach that I don't need my crazy long barbell anymore!0
