i have to go with a mix of A and B. I am very friendly and if they are friendly to me.. :). however.. i do move forward with caution. sometimes friendly turns to creepy very fast.
I usually give the somebody the benefit of the doubt at first. I am in complete support of being nice and appreciate nice gestures from others.

But then ... if I get enough signals to determine that somebody overly "Unusual", I tend to coast in the conversation until the other person finally gives up.

B! I love to run into overly nice people! Bubbly and happy, happy, happy. Makes me smile!

If it turns out they aren't so nice...well....

Used to and still sometimes B but I've been burned so I'm trying to be more A.
  • I wanted to add this quote too. I think its really true. But I understand why people don't trust people who are overly nice.

"Be kinder than necessary, everyone is fighting some kind of battle"

    D. I have social anxiety.

If I'm irritated, it'll annoy me. If I'm in a good mood, I'll smile back like Goldfish crackers. :D

When a complete stranger, either online or in real life, approaches you, unsolicited, and is overly nice to you, for no apparent reason, are you:

    A. Cautious, and curious as to what scam they are trying to pull

    B. Delighted, that the world is full of such super-dee-duper nice people

    C. Annoyed, because overly happy people are clearly annoying

    D. Fearful, because they're setting you up for an assault and are very likely a carrier of multiple diseases

Depending on what the person is like. Usually B because I am often one of those overly nice people. But sometimes D, if it is someone who looks scary (in real life).

A, because I think I look like a pushover, and they want to sell me something,

and C. Overly nice people are like good-morning people. (I am NOT a morning person.) I find them MORE than annoying. :grumble:

I'd like to add the following:

    E. Confused as hell because people down here aren't nice. Ever.

Otherwise, I'll go with C. Because I'm not nice either. ;)

Tell me, how does it make you feel?
I don't know. No ever approaches me. I'm kinda scary.
Me too. I've seen people that I've never met cross to the other side of the street to avoid crossing my path.

One of my coworkers said to me "You're not like I thought when I first saw you." and when I asked, he said "Scary. Too big. Too bald. Just scary."

On the original subject, "A" all the way... and I love it when someone proves my suspicions wrong!!

What do y'all mean by "overly nice", anyway? Most folks down here are what some might call "overly nice". I just call it being "neighborly". :flowerforyou:

Just don't give me a reason not to be nice, and we'll all be OK.

Nice I like. Overly nice I find annoying and phoney. If you fart rainbows step away or I might puke on your shoes.
