New diet? Does it work???

http://blessedmommy.hubpages.com/hub/Lose-Up-To-10-Pounds-In-3-Days-On-The-3-Day-Diet

I want you all to read this whole thing and just give me opinions. I've heard of it working, but never saw any results seeing as how I've heard it on the news or somewhere where I can't see people on a day to day basis. Do you guys think this works?? Why or why not? I just need some opinions, not rude comments, or judgy ones. I'm thinking about trying it. I'm happy with losing weight my healthy way, and so far I'm proud, but I'm just wondering what the benefits may be of this one or faults.

  • I'm sure it does work, but it's probably not a good idea. You're unlikely to lose that much weight in that short a period of time without a severe, unhealthy calorie restriction and even then, pretty much all of what you'll lose is probably going to be water weight (which means that it'll come right back on when you go off the diet).

My opinion is: try it if you need to fit into a specific outfit by next weekend, but otherwise... no.

It's not good. According to the meal plan for the 3 days, you're net calories would be incredibly low or in the negative depending if you work out or are active during the day. What happens after the 3 days? You'll most likely gain it all back. Just focus on eating right.
  • Reading the comments on this, it says that the net calories are about 1200..so it's healthy calories, but I need to net about 1500-1600..so I'm afraid my body might go into starvation mode..but it's only for 3 days. I work out 5 days a week..I guess I just need the extra motivation, and was hoping this 3 day diet will give it. (with the weight staying off of course)
  • bump for more opinions. :) I'd like to hear what everyone thinks?

If you are retaining 10 pounds of excess water, it may work very well for you. You aren't going to lose 10 pounds of fat in 3 days. And you aren't going to go into starvation mode in 3 days, that's silly.
  • Yeah I do doubt it's fat, if any actually. I just started calorie counting, I don't know how it works necessarily or how much leg room you have for screw up days, cheat days, starvation mode and etc. So it may be silly, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. So I ask, Google and pray lol

What everyone else said- even if it works, its only temporary and most likely, will leave you feeling exhausted and defeated when it comes back.

It's "lose up to 10lbs in 3 days" ... unless you have 10 lbs of water weight kicking around you won't lose that much.

You won't lose 10lbs of fat weight in that time. Unfortunately once you bump up your calories and eat as you are now you would gain it all back.... these types of diet don't tend to make the weight stay off once you finish with the 3 days.

Google and Yahoo don't always provide the best information...

Starvation mode is a term that is thrown around far too much here!

People keep calling how they eat "a diet". It has to be a lifestyle change and it's forever.........or you get fat again. CHANGE
  • I haven't researched it, just skimmed over it.... but sounds like something along the lines of rapid acid / alkaline eating.
Water weight goes, bowels empty and a sudden shock to the body is what happens, anything placed in the body after this shock will be treated as a saving measure.

Technically, if you use this and I really can imagine many have.... you won't go longer than 3 days cause you're starving and about to knock off the local hotdog vendor........

Its possible to look at this as a jump-start while you get rid of all the junk food in the house and begin a proper dietary intake.

ANY "diet" will work. You can eat the same 1,200 calories of hotdogs everyday and lose weight, too. Is it sustainable though? Nope. It will be regained once you resume eating normally again.

    Best of luck! :drinker:

It's a low cal low carb diet. It is NOT a get into shape diet. It's a gotta make my weight diet. You simply burn through your bodies glycogen stores very quickly which results in a rapid temporary weight loss.

OMG! It sounds too good to be true!!!!!!! Oh wait...that's because it is.

Stop looking at the marketed bull****:grumble: and go with what works. Eating within your goals and exercising. THERE ARE NO SILVER BULLETS, GOLDEN PILLS, OR MAGICAL PREGO PEE TO BECOMING HEALTHY. It is a journey to correct the choices that you made previously.

    no, it won't work

to lose 10 pounds in 3 days (of fat) you'd have to burn 11666.66 calories per day on top of the food you are eating. this chemical breakdown stuff isn't real because even if it had the ability to breakdown fat, your body doesn't just pour your food all over the fat (the whole digestion thing.)

you can lose 10 pounds in 3 days if you count water weight, but that doesn't matter as much because it's not fat

    this diet is unhealthy
  • People always want a quick fix then wonder why the weight just comes back on. I don't believe any real result would come from dieting in three days. They put out a lot of hype for different diets, fads. The only way I see losing weight and staying healthy is by eating right and regular exercise. The only "diet" that I've decided to follow is the Paleo diet. Only because it makes perfect sense. Read about it.
  • People keep calling how they eat "a diet". It has to be a lifestyle change and it's forever.........or you get fat again. CHANGE

That's because the definition of how you eat is your diet, regardless of whether you're trying to lose, gain, or maintain. This is not the same as being "on a diet," the way most people think of the word regarding trying to lose weight. To lose weight and be healthy, most people should change their lifestyle, which includes changing their diet.

Technically, what you eat is a diet. Over time the word diet had become altered to mean cutting back on whatever it is that makes people fat. So, if I said I had a diet of Pizza and pork rinds, that would still be correct. Haha. Just a little info to put out there.
  • Thanks guys..and I said I wanted opinions, not necessarily looking to low calorie myself out of this considering I've been doing damn good so far and don't want to back track myself just because something promises a better looking scale number..

    so yeah, not a sucker.

:) Thanks to the ones who actually put some info in their opinions, I like reading it. Mainly because I'm new, I'm still researching and learning.
Considering the paleo diet..it's just not me, but maybe one day it will fit.

I once heard of a diet... where on day one you ONLY eat one thing, day two, it's something else... it was crazy. It was at one point like "you can eat all the banana's you want on this day!"... gurantee to lose weight. Sorry... anything that says "diet" I steer away from.. Just eat well, work out, if you hit a plateu find new work outs.

It is giving you a variety of foods, covering the food groups, but as I read through it I was thinking...wow, that would not be enough to fill me up. I'd be starving for 3 days!!
  • Yeah it is offering a variety..but I would definitely want to steer away from people on these 3 days.
  • Check out Mark's Daily Apple....... his thoughts on Paleo / Primal and he recommends a 70/30 or 80/20 balance so there is ALOT of compromise for just about anybody :)
