my bmi has gone from "obese" to "overweight" this week... I was shocked when I first checked out my bmi to discover I was considered obese, just as I was getting used to the idea I shed a load of weight and my bmi changed to overweight0
-
I'm within 5 pounds of a healthy BMI0
-
Awesome!!!0

What a great accomplishment! :flowerforyou:0

Good for you! Losing your baby weight is one of the hardest things to do in life, just short of having the kid itself!0

meh, i think that bmi is a lot more accurate as a measure of obesity for women than it is for men.0 -

not very accurate for either...yet still can be used as a tool for progression0 -

I'm hoping to increase my muscle enough to go back to overweight BMI.
Sad that such a statistical calculation intended only for stats on populations has been taken to the individual level.
Just heard report there is effort under way to change the definition of some BMI levels so that more fall into the overweight category.
Why?
For federal funding. If you get more people showing up as overweight, it's an epidemic, you can make a bigger deal out of it, and get more money.
So sad.0 -
My BMI puts me in the overweight catagory when I am lifting weights for any length of time at all even with less than 10% body fat so while it is one indicator it is somewhat flawed.0
-
Flawed! I understand teh logic however i am joining the military next year and am unable to lose 2kgs as i will be classed as underweight and will not be accepted on my day of enlistment... with exercise to get fit for the training i will lose weight... i have to lift weights and build body mass and take protein to ensure that my muscle mass pulls me over the line... i know im not underweight with the extreme that the BMI indicates0

Thats wonderful! I still have a way to go, still in the obese range, but coming up on the overweight range! I'm aiming for a long-term goal BMI of 24, which would out me at around 167 lbs.0
-
yay, I just checked mine and I am within my healthy weight range too!!! when I began, I was borderline obese. Yay go me! haha and go all of you lovely ladies who are fighting to get there or who have just made it, and certainly to all the ladies who have put in the hard work and have made it to their goal already. We rock, all of us!!0

Great job!!!! I'm still 6lbs away from being "healthy" BMI-wise but I had a check up yesterday and my doctor thought I was "healthy"0
-
Congratulations! Here's to a long, happy & healthy life for you!0
-
Just left obese and arrived at overweight. I can't imagine what it must be like to be "healthy". Good for you!0

Well, I haven't met many women who fall into the obese category who I'd consider thin.0 -
I can't imagine losing another 30 lbs that would put me at the top of "normal"0

My girl just turned 7 months, HOWEVER, I did not start/get motivated until she was 5 months. So two months and I lost a pile! So you will be far ahead of me getting going now!0
