<== in this pic im borderline obese and overweight BMI

Like I said, BMI isn't everything. ;) I do know that muscle weighs more than fat... When I was a teenager (and very fit! And shorter), I had abs visible and strong legs from various sport, I was "overweight". BUT, looking at my profile pic, it's pretty obvious those rock hard abs are not there any more. ;) ha ...SOON though... For my height as a female, I'll be able to remain in the healthy range without looking stick thin. Strong is the new beautiful.

Aw yay congrats! I remember that feeling, it wasn't too long ago for me either! I hopped on the wii fit and it usually goes in it's stupid squeaky voice "Oh! Too high!" and for the first time ever it didn't, I was *just* about in the 'ideal' zone lol. well done xx

Yeah, yeah, some people who are in really good shape show up as "overweight". If you're an exception, then it's obvious.

Most people who are overweight or obese by BMI really *do* have a high body fat.

Congrats!!! I remeber the excitement I had the day I hit a healthy BMI after about 10 years of being either overweight or obese. You must be so excited! Keep up the great work and I'm sure you will continue to see the results of your hard work and dedication!

This is why they also measure your waist too. They knew the BMI wouldn't work for people who work out because muscle weighs more than fat. Our job allows you to go by weight first and if that doesn't work then they measure your waist in order to qualify for the discount on insurance.

bMI isn't everything, but it sure feels good to notice I hit into this category! I'm right at the top end.... Been a LONG time. Booyah! Post baby I'm looking forward to being in the best shape of my life! Happy dance!

Good for you! You're right, it's not the only measure, but it's not nothing. I've noticed that when people are in the healthy BMI range, they're a lot less likely to argue how utterly useless it is.

It's a good point, a friend of mine used to be in the RAF... She was telling me they use BMI as a primary measure then waist measurement if you fell into the overweight/obese ranges.

meh, i think that bmi is a lot more accurate as a measure of obesity for women than it is for men.

On the same page when I calculated my BMI:
I am obese and need to loose 15 pounds to be healthy (but down 37 pounds, yay!)
My waist to height ratio is healthy
I can actually go up 2 dress sizes and be healthy.

Remember ladies, the number on the scale isn't everything. Take into account muscle and body fat percentage!
