What type of exercise has given you the best results?

Good morning everyone!
I currently use and elliptical but I was given 30DS and Insanity for my birthday. Plan on using these as I lose a little more weight (down 8 so far).
I am interested in running. I have C25K on my phone and am seriously considering trying this soon!
Since I am just starting out, I would love to hear what form of exercise has given you your best results.
Thanks,
Maggie

I would say running, body weight exercises and boxing.
I did p90x and then a modified P90x with weights and just got tired of it.0 -
Best results for what? Weight loss? Weight gain? Cardio endurance increase? Musclular endurance increase? Jumping higher? Running faster? Being stronger? Looking better naked?0

I did strictly cardio classes for about a year and lost some weight but did not lose inches really until I started doing strength excercises with light weights & body weight exercises. I've seen myself tone up tremendously. so i would advise include more resistance, body weight & weight excercises which 30shred incorporates! good luck!0

Weight loss at this point. Eventually I will need to tone everything...0 -
How long have you got to read all the different replies you are going to get to this post? It's a very individual thing to be honest, and I think it's all down to personal preference. Different things you do will achieve different results. It's really down to how you want your body to look at the end of your journey.0

Hands down Running. I have NEVER had results like I have with running. I've always been bottom heavy, but since I started running (which I did the day after Memorial day this year), my body has really started to reshape and my butt/thighs are smaller than ever.0

Circuit training and boot camps have given me my best results. My favorite is circuit training alone at the gym with my IPod on. Two sets of 15 reps (1 minute rest in between each set) of any strength training followed by one minute of cardio (skip rope, jumping jacks, burpees, going up and down on a step, jogging around the indoor track, etc.).
I get bored very easily and I'm always changing up my circuits. One day, I do upper body (arms, chest, shoulders and upper back) and the next day I do lower body (abs, glutes, legs). I mix a variety of exercises and try not to stick to the same ones for more than a couple of weeks.
I'll be starting kickboxing on Wednesday to change up my exercise routine too.
If I am stuck doing the same things all the time, I lose motivation. Try to keep it exciting and new! )0 -

I am starting my second week of C25K, I am not a runner, but I love it. I also lost 2.2 lbs after my first week of the program!!!0 -

Weight loss requires a calorie deficit. This can be created with diet alone or a mix of diet with any activity that burns calories.
"Toning" does not exist. What does exist is making muscle bigger and losing the fat covering it up. The combination is what people perceive as toning. You don't lose the fat first and worry about the muscle later. You worry about the muscle the whole way through. Check out the link below for a ton of info to get started if you want to be serious about being the best looking you that you can be.

Weight loss is achieved through calorie deficit. That being said....exercise in addition to many health benefits can also help us create that deficit. For best results you should be doing both cardio AND strength training. It is NEVER to soon to start strength training during your weight loss journey...in fact the sooner the better! Big calorie burners for me have been - running/jogging, spinning, kick boxing and calisthenics. Also - Jillian Michaels extreme shed and shred is a killer workout!
The weight will come off with diet alone but exercise will help you maintain lean muscle mass and make your heart and lungs strong!!!0 -
Boxing! Love it. Obsessed. I've only been doing it a couple months but I can really see more results - especially on my core and upper body. More results than any other workouts I've done in the past which include: Spinning, Yoga, Running, TRX, Zumba, BodyPump and pilates0

Its all about your goals as stated prior. Find out what works for you!

I pick up heavy thing and then put them down0

For me? running/weights.
I've been doing weights and "cardio" as long as I can remember (20 years give or take), but when "cardio" became 5k+ four days a week, my measurements changed dramatically.0 -
For me, my best results have been with weight training. Cardio is great for losing weight but as far as sculpting and toning, I have to say weights are the way to go! Muscle boosts metabolism.0

I can't believe how many people got resuts with running. When I did C25K I did not lose much about 3 pounds over the whole 12 weeks it took me last time and I did not even drop a size. What has worked is Yoga. And Tabata workouts.
Although I am going to give Insanity a try come October 1.0 -
I've started doing weights and I've been doing them since Maybut I haven't seen much of a difference... Cardio seems to work best for me.0

The best workouts you can do are the ones where you continually challenge yourself to do more/better. If you find yourself slacking off or phoning it in you may as well switch to something that will challenge you.
The last time I got semi-thin I ran for time. You set up a distance to run and time yourself at that distance. Then you determine how fast that was per mile and set a realistic time goal. Continually try to beat your previous time. It will help give you the motivation to try harder and put in a better workout. C25K is good for this.
This time I'm cycling for time. By butt is consistently sore.0 -
Sticking to a good diet and weight training with heavy weights. Hands down I look the best since doing this. But most importantly the diet!0
-
Running and spinning! I love spin classes. I hate running, but I know it produces results for me and I view it as a challenge. Even a 30 min run a day keeps me loosing weight.0

LIfting heavy weights0

Have you tried intervals on the elliptical??? You go balls to the wall for 40 seconds and then walk slow for 2 minutes alternating. I tried it for the first time tonight and I have to tell you I feel awesome. It gave me a different kind of burn. I am planning on doing this 3 days per week and then I do circuit training 2 days per week. Have fun!0

HEAVY WEIGHTS.
And some cardio for heart health and because I love playing sports but mostly HEAVY WEIGHTS.0 -
Considering the fact that running 3 miles may only burn 300 calories and that can be replaced in ten seconds with a cookie, I would say diet is the fastest way to lose fat. Consider intermittent fasting and the 6 meal a day thing that bodybuilders have been doing is not necessary at all. Studies show that intermittent fasting such as a schedule of 16 hrs fast and 8 hrs feeding showed the weight loss was 90% fat and only 10% muscle where as typically you will lose 75% fat and 25% muscle. Check out the studies on leangains.com. Anything that gets your heart rate in the target zone will burn fat. I like mountain biking because I am mountain biking and it has nothing to do with "having to do cardio".0

Weight lifting, ChaLEAN Extreme and now P90X. I've had better results now, at 40, than I have with anything else I've done since my mid-20s, when I first started working out consistently...0

Lifting weights! I love it and it has made a huge differance in loss and the way I look...0

1) Lifting weights
2) running, a variety, HIIT, moderate pace runs, easy long runs.
In that order.0 -
Working hard gives me the best results. Walking was good, running was better and running faster was better than that.0
