I got a compliment from Rusty Moore from Fitness Black Book!

I'm telling this story because I'm super proud of the fact that I got a compliment from Rusty Moore of Fitness black book. I think my recent adventure to Las Vegas where I used Rusty's Vacation Body Blueprint was a fun experiment that worked. These are the fun type of experiments that you can look forward to doing when you get lean and fit.
First of all I want to say I'm learning about a bunch of different workouts here on MFP. I plan to pick one of these if I can find one advanced enough for my taste and write about it once I complete the workout I'm on (which will be in about two weeks); Turbofire, Beach Body, Jillian Michaels 30 day shred, P90X, Ripped in 30, Jamie Eason LiveFit Trainer, Muscle and Fitness Hers, The Ultimate Female Training Guide on Simplyshredded.com, Cathe FRIEDRICH's STS, and M RI30 and Extreme Shed and Shred. I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet, I am interested if anyone has any reviews of these workouts.
I totally bumbled across the workout I'm doing now last year and without mentioning the name of the workout I tell my full story here http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/740340-i-lost-60-lbs-at-age-51-anyone-can-any-workout
Here are pictures of me having fun as the "new smaller me" http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/734137-the-new-me-pictures-not-posing
I have no doubt that if I bumbled across another workout I would have had huge success IF it also gave me the same eat less calorie goals that I needed. Another part of my success was reaching for a goal that I first thought beyond my reach and that is the goal of reaching my "golden ratio" which is a huge part of my current workout.
The reason I achieved my goal is because I like to workout dang hard and I love the gym and I'm willing to spend the time there. Also I was willing to finally face the truth that when you are small like me you don't get to eat as much as other people. Life is not fair, I choose to just deal with it. I am here because I am serious about fitness and heath and I'm willing to share what I have learned with others. I actually need MFP to help me walk a fine line now that I have reached the level of leanness that I wish to stay at.
Several people have PM'd me lately and asked what I did to get my abs so I want to talk about that here as it relates to my story. For me, possibly because I am so short, ab exercises makes my waist thicker. This did not help me reach my golden ratio ideal so I skipped all the ab exercises from my current workout for 6 months. The result was all the pictures on my profile here on MFP. As you can see I still had a lot of ab definition, and I finally reached the golden ratio by cutting out the ab exercises (with a water deplete and carb load). Since then I have added back in the ab exercises and my waist has gotten thicker with muscle and slightly different definition as shown in the pictures below. I'm no longer quite at the golden ratio with the thicker waist but I love the ab exercises and I now know that it's not fat so I don't care. I'm still under 12% body fat so I shouldn't worry about it anymore.
My main point is you do not have to do a bunch of ab exercises to get abs, but you do have to lift heavy (squats, dead lifts, and everything else) and lose the fat so they will show, that is all.
So here's my story with Rusty's compliment:
I do a women strength training workout called the Venus Index (Adonis Index is for the guys). Recently I went to Las Vegas to meet some girlfriends who I became friends with at the Venus Index Community Forum and we met one of the owners of the company.
I couldn't do the full IF that Rusty talks about because I am too lean (under 12% BF). But I did learn how to do the fasted workouts (first thing in the morning before eating). I always said I could not do this, but I realize now it's just a limitation in your head because I got over it and did it.
I tend to drink a lot of water but for the 12 hour drive to Vegas I didn't drink much because I didn't want to have to stop all the time. My husband didn't feel like hanging around Vegas with me and the girls so I dropped him off at a trail head on Hwy 395 and he went back packing on a grueling high elevation trail. I then had 6 more hours of driving and was stressed and ended up eating a huge ice cream cone when I stopped for gas in Beatty, NV. I was stressed for a lot of reasons (driving through the desert alone, worried about my man who I love more than anything, a country girl going to a big city, etc). I guess this is stress eating. I had already eaten my allotment of calories but I didn't care.
Here's a picture of me saying good-by to my sweetie at the trail head for Tabose Pass. I was smiling in the picture but I was in tears watching him walk up the trail. I can't help it I just love that man more than anything.
Anyway between the lack of drinking water, the previous 3 weeks of slowly leaning out, and the carb load ice cream cone, I accidentally did what body builders do on purpose for contests, LOL, I woke up the next day like this:
Woke up ripped
Then I drank tons of water and found a gym, ate lunch and then dinner with the girls (I had 2 glasses of wine!) LOL I drink wine about twice a year at the most.
Then the next day we went Encore Beach Club and I was blown away at my abs side view in the picture (I guess I was still carb loaded and slightly dehydrated). I am in the green Costco bikini on the far right. That's right. I hung out with people who paid $3000 a day for their pool lounge area while wearing a Costco bikini! LOL And I did get asked fitness questions and no one cared about the bikini.
Anyway we had a blast. Country girl in a big city. I'm glad to be home and back on my normal routine even if I am full of water and not carb loaded anymore!

I read through the vacation body blue print and want to try it for the 2.5 weeks before halloween. My biggest challenge will be the fasted morning workouts and eating clean. Were you logging for this? I would like some ideas about eating. I was thinking of doing protein shake for first meal, but I don't think I could do that two meals...0

I simply skip breakfast and eat my first meal at lunch and log it for lunch and nothing for breakfast. I really don't find much use for protein powders as I get enough protein from meat, fish, chicken, yogurt, and cottage cheese.
I still end up eating all my calories. I log lunch, dinner, and the rest of the food as snacks. I added another snack column.
Have fun. Keep me updated on how that procedure goes!
