It's not the size of the boat that matters...0 -
No. I saw this image this morning and I think it's something to think about.

What is perfect?0

never thought about it. I am what I am.
yes my measurements will change as i get more fit, but basically i can only work with what I am given.0 -
Since you use the word "perfect", then the answer is "no". If you asked if there was an ideal measurement, then that would depend on each person individually.0

This is the same as the 'perfect' face shape.
Long story short: there isn't one.
The human body is far too varied, and people's opinion of the body is far too varied, for there to be such thing as universal perfect measurements.0 -
What I like to think about is where the attraction to a woman's shape came from for men. It's obvious once you think about it but almost nobody thinks about it, they just respond to it. Here's my theory:
1. Male attraction to ample breasts is driven by a deep evolutionary proclivity to picking someone who will feed your baby well so it survives and so the gene for choosing ample breasts is passed on.
2. Ditto for the hourglass shape which accentuates wider hips for ease of childbirth. Pick an hourglass shape and your child has a greater chance of being born alive.
Of course, all of this is pre-programmed into male DNA over hundreds of thousands of years and the poor saps (including me) have no choice in the matter. That is unless the Barbie doll is a real idiot and then SOME of us are totally turned off (including me).
There is absolutely no scientific proof for this whatsoever.
The fact is - 'ideal' female sizes change from one society to another and are most likely culturally constructed. You only have to look at the differences in English fashions to realise that - from the flat chested 'flapper girls' to the girdled and curvy 1950s look. Evolution could never change preferences so fast.0 -
Perfect measurements, there's no such thing. What's perfect is if your body works the way it should, your lungs are not struggling, your heart is not overworked, your bones can support you, your muscles are strong... Your health is your wealth, it's way more important than the aesthetic.0

There is no perfect measurment, to ask this question is to have a mental disorder.
My thoughts exactly!0 -
Yeah, baby ... when it comes to females, Cosmo ain't got nothin'
to do with my selection. 36-24-36? Ha ha, only if she's 5'3"0 -
How come men never ask this stuff? What is a man's perfect measurement?
about 8"0 -
Isn't it 36-24-36? That's usually the anecdotal measurements. A' La Sir Mix-A-Lot: "36-24-36? Haha. Only if she's 5' 3"." But seriously, I think that the OP was just wondering what people thought about this, not suggesting that it's what she thinks. I would argue that these measurments are a relic from a time when men visibly and overtly judged women based on thier sexual appeal. There's a big difference between model-body (Tall, very thin, small bust and hips), Actor Body (More petite, thin, small bust and slightly larger hips), Fitness/Swimsuit body (Average-Tall, Toned, Larger bust/Average Hips), Mens/Pornography body (Usually "hourglass", soft body, large bust and hips.) Models are generally meant to appeal to women and gay men, actors are required to play a more attractive and camera-ready "average" person (the camera really does make you look fatter, so they must be slightly underweight) - it's really the swimsuit and mens magazine women who more closely resemble the old ideal, because they are still meant to appeal to men in a sexual way. What we are finding now, especially in the "actress body" category, is that men prefer a wide variety of women, and that healthy and confident is more appealing than a specific frame (Christina Hendricks/Jennifer Lawrence/Blake Lively/Zoe Saldana are all beautiful actresses with VERY different body types). Women are judging themselves now, and usually far more harshly than men ever did.0

The best measure for a woman is the way she feels when encircled in my arms. You can't really put a number on that though. Perfection is feeling safe, warm, wanted, and cared about when holding her and it's as simple as that.
You. Are. Awesome.

I don't think it's a good idea to shoot for specific measurements...unless they are specific to YOUR body.
In order to be 36-26-36, you need an hourglass shape. If you have it--great, but if you're an apple those measurements are completely unrealistic and will set you up for disappointment. Also, 36-26-36 might look different on women of different heights.0 -
Male attraction to bigger breasts does not come from an "evolutionary proclivity" to women who are more likely to feed their babies well. As far as I know, there is not a correlation between breast size and breast milk production.
The believed evolutionary purpose of the male attraction to women with bigger breasts and hourglass figures is toward women who are sexually mature and fertile. Because breast and hip growth come with sexual maturity, they give men the signal that a woman is in her child-bearing years. When menopause sets in, many women lose the hourglass shape, thus giving the sign that they are no longer able to have children.
There is in fact research to back this up. It was discussed in an evolutionary psychology course I was in, so if you're interested, you can check the literature out in that field.0
