Perfect Female Body Measurements-thought?

There is waist to hip ratio (not specific measurements) found universally attractive.
I have heard this as well; and it makes sense from a health/evolution perspective. Just like how symmetrical faces are found to more attractive (in both males and females) because it is an indicator of healthy genes. A certain waist to hip ratio in women is thought to be an indicator of how fertile she is so baby making body = more attractive.
However, I don't think there is such a thing as perfect measurements of perfect anything. A person's value in today's society is based (or at least should be based) on so much more than the person's worth as a breeder. I think the school of thought that there is or should be a perfect whatever is a result of a commercial system that is trying to mass produce everything; how nice would it be for clothing companies if everyone were just the same size!
My best advice, aside from finding a reason other than your measurements or reflection in the mirror to love yourself, is to work to be the best you that you can be. No one else can do it better than you, or be a better looking you, so just try your best and the measurements you end up being happy at will be the perfect measurements!0 -
The perfect measurements are the ones you already have.0

never thought about it. I am what I am.
yes my measurements will change as i get more fit, but basically i can only work with what I am given.
Awesome attitude! Very healthy. I vote for you as the perfect female body, right behind my wife! lol
HA..but i am a comic book character, sir!0 -
i'm not sure if my bust will ever get back to 36 lol but my goal measurements are about 38-26-36. i'd take 40-28-38 though lol0

The best measure for a woman is the way she feels when encircled in my arms. You can't really put a number on that though. Perfection is feeling safe, warm, wanted, and cared about when holding her and it's as simple as that.
I actually like this statement.0 -
damn. it's 2012. do women really have nothing better to think about than their body proportions :laugh:0
-
I think the "perfect measurements" usually have more to do with proportion than the actual measurements. In women it is said to be more attractive to have a waist that is smaller and bust and hips/bum that are near equal in size to each other.
However, I've seen many women who weren't that perfect hourglass shape that were just as beautiful. Everyone has a perfect measurement for them and it doesn't necessarily have to be the same as another persons "perfect".
ETA I'm 38-28-38 and I think I look HUGE! But I'm small framed and so any bit of pudge looks like a lot on me.0 -
It is what makes HER happy with herself.
However, I did shoot for the golden ratio and got it. The golden ratio is explained here and it's for men as well as women. http://www.webefit.com/articles_200-299/article_208_GoldenRatio.html
Reaching for it got me beyond what I ever thought capable for myself. It was part of the goal setting for the Venus Index (that's why the program is called the Venus Index, and the guys program called the Adonis Index). When I first set out to lose weight I thought I would be happy at size 8 because I'd never been any smaller. I never thought about metrics. Once the Golden Ratio was explained I and I realized we were all designed this way if we lose the fat. Underneath it all we are all pretty much the same (based mainly on height). This is why artists use the Golden Ratio. It's based on Phi.
When I first saw the waist for myself I thought NO WAY! and that is what most people think. But I decided to try for it and I got it. And it got me down to a size 2-4 and very healthy. If I didn't lift weights my shoulders and hips would be too small, but the lifting got them to the golden ratio.
Since I'm on the short end of the scale it was hard for me to get my waist down and I talked about what I did here http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/745151-i-got-a-compliment-from-rusty-moore-from-fitness-black-book1 -
You can put two woman side by side and they are the same height and weight and you would never believe it. Our bodies are just so different.
This is so true. One of my best friends and I are the same height and weight (5'7 and 170 lbs). I wear a size large/extra large top (think football player broad across the back and shoulders) and can wear a size 8 pants. My friend is a small/medium top and a size 12/14 pant. Two totally different body types. We will never be the same size.....and that's what makes us "us". Women come in all shapes and sizes - I don't think one is any more or less perfect. There is someone out there that will think my body shape is more attractive and some that will think her body shape is (I think she's lucky to have a booty, 'cause I'm flat as a board back there)0 -
36-24-36? Ha ha, only if she's 5'3"
Sir Mix-a-Lot says so.0 -

No. I saw this image this morning and I think it's something to think about.

hmm I think that any woman should strive to be healthy over shape
Agreed. There is no "perfect" measurement :S
Reducing bodyfat, staying fit and eating predominately clean should always be the goal0 -

There is waist to hip ratio (not specific measurements) found universally attractive.
I believe it's .70 -
No. I saw this image this morning and I think it's something to think about.
Thank you! "perfect' is as individual as fingerprints. My boyfriend tells me I am perfect for him so this works for me!0 -
no perfect measurement. it's how you feel in your own body. i think curves are sexy and i hope i keep some of mine! the girls are disappearing though
i also think the more confident you are, the more attractive you appear.0 -
36-29-36... So near yet so far... but I still feel pretty perfect. :P
I like my body shape and I wouldn't like to have a smaller waist, I think I'd look out of proportion.0 -
Depending on a persons build "ideal measurements" will be different from person to person. My measurements are 36-25-36 and for me it is ideal, but I have always had that shape even when I was obese. My mom on the other hand is apple shaped so her "ideal measurements" would be different. I have read studies about there being and ideal waist to hip ratio which I think is .7' but even then some people will not be able to meet that standard. Imo we reduce ourselves to numbers way to often. We are more than numbers and we should be proud of the whole package.0

Yeah, baby ... when it comes to females, Cosmo ain't got nothin'
to do with my selection. 36-24-36? Ha ha, only if she's 5'3"
^this :laugh:0 -
What Motley Crue said...."38 28 28" LOL....0

There is no perfect measurment, to ask this question is to have a mental disorder.
thinking someone has a mental disorder for asking this question is what is interesting to me. such a weird statement to make.
lol agree - i don't think speculating on the size and shape of the perfect woman is listed as a diagnostic criterion in the ICD-10 lol!0 -
I don't believe there is a perfect measurment or weight. I simply was putting it out there. I think you need to feel good and take care of your body. It is just interesting to me the things people say and come up wth that can affect how a woman views her body. I can begin to understand why there is such a problem with girls and body image issues. I would never want anyone to mis-understand my post. I was not saying I feel there is a perfect size or measurement, I was just simply posted an article I read and wanting feed back. You cannot achieve something that is not realistc and all body and body structures is unique.0

There can be no universal "perfect". It depends on height and body shape, and neither of those are anything we can control.
I'm 5'9" and pear shaped. I will never make that "perfect" set of measurements without cosmetic surgery, which I have no intentions of getting. Right now I'm 35-28-39. I doubt my hips will ever make it to 36 inches without my upper body looking emaciated. Already I need to build up the muscles in my chest so you can't see my ribs, and I'm still at around 25% body fat.
As far as the waist-to-hip ratio, I'm around .72. But I need to reduce body fat percentage, so not even that is "perfect".
Some would look at me and think I'm too skinny. Others might think I'm just right. I think I need to be more fit, but I'm happy too. the most important is to have a healthy body image, take care of yourself, and be healthy.0 -
I think the perfect female body measurements are the ones that you can obtain naturally and without any form of self...manipulation. AKA surgery and starvation diets. Especially the latter:/0
-
i swear i'm a total "pear" 29-25-36. i was just born with my hips set wide apart, i guess. LOL0
-
Interesting...since I lost most of my boobs during my weightloss journey, I am (last time I checked) 32-24-35.
And I think I'm damn near perfect!0 -

Mine is .72 as well, and not even close to perfect; I need to reduce body fat percentage too even though I don't have much weight to lose. I just need to work on how what that weigh is composed of - which is why I'm here.
The perfect female body measurements are a mental construct; even if you see a woman who looks perfect to you (not you specifcially) her own perception might be way off 'perfect'.0
