I thought some of you might be interested in this food blog I started. It includes the recipe for the BL pancakes I made the other day. Most of the recipes I end up putting in the database. So let me know what you think.

Have you seen the Taco Bell drive thru diet commerical - OH COME ON! I can see those are a better option than a cheeseburger if you have to eat it in the car.... maybe.... I hate the hype on stuff like that!

I have had to channel my cooking into healthier foods. When my husband and I were first married I would make brownies, texas cake, cookies weekly. Between that and my lack of exercise I put on 20 lbs very quickly. I am finally trying to create healthy meals again. I did before but with two of us it became easier to hit the nearest fast food restaurant than to pack up leftovers and clean the kitchen. I am finally realizing what a toll it has put on my health!!

I am glad you all like it. I figure if it is out there I ought to share.

I actually did see it and put a post on here about it. Its a big joke. I can't believe that they are doing it. But they want to get on the band wagon also I guess. Whatever, I will eat there if I happen to cross it but luckly I don't have to cross it often at all. So no temptation for me there.

My hubby is actually a great inspiration when it comes to not eating out. He says yes it maybe quick but think of all the grease that you are eating and money you are spending. THis coming out of a skinny man who can not gain a pound to save his butt  When he says that I think of all that grease clogging my arteries and the fat going strait to my belly so I find something better at home for me.

Sorry for the gain you guys. I had to be honest with myself. I shall shred that in a matter of time. I did the Jillian last chance workout lastnight and holy crap I burned almost 1,000 calories. And I had to stop before cool down I thought I was going to pass out. I think walking is in store for me today. My hubby is going online right now and going to play some games with his new PS3 so this would be the time for me. vs. when the biggest loser is on.

So my hubby is so sweet. I woke up yesterday morning to a new laptop sitting on my chair. OMG was I excited. I'm so spoiled. now to pay the credit card off he he. But we deserve to spoil ourselves from time to time.

I appologize if there was a mix up. I started at 168.4 but lost just a pound last week. It took all 8 weeks to lose the 5. I'm happy with that though. You Blues are the best support!! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

I just put in the numbers to relate your loss, with the information I had. I am not too worried about it.

I actually have not seen that Taco bell commercial yet. I will have to watch for it. Maybe it will be on during BL, that would be funny!

j-g I am a little jealous, I would love to have a laptop, but we are trying to save up so if we ever move we will have cash to spare. Maybe one day I will splurge and treat myself too!

I actually walked on the treadmill today at 2mph for 20 min. I figure I am only 2 days away from a month since I had that mole removed and I needed the endorphen boost today. Also that is about how fast I walk on sauntering days so I ought to be ok. I am tired of feeling down because I loved the boost I got from running.

The plus side of all that is that I have lost weight the last couple of weeks with only upper body strength and eating. Not bad for a recovering overeater if I say so myself!!:flowerforyou:

I would also like to thank you all for the support and motivation. I wouldn't of stuck with MFP this long without you all! And I wouldn't bounce back after mistakes without your support. So thank you blues. You are the key to my success!

debnu1 - Congrats for being strong and finding ways to exercise. Great job losing weight.. keep it up!

j_g4ever - yay for the new laptop!!!

smadag1 - its wonderful to have a spouse who helps with making better food choices. My husband is very supportive and its makes life so much easier!

So I went to the gym tonight to take a boxing class. It had started snowing earlier here in England but it wasn't sticking much. Well half way through the class, we were told that local police just called to inform them that several roads were being closed due to the snow. So we were all advised to head home. I was surprised when I found my car covered in 1.5 inches of snow. Made it safely back home but my workout was cut short. And its still snowing... wonder how much we'll get tomorrow. This much snow is out of the ordinary for England.

debnu-way to go - be careful though

Taradise glad you made it home ok.

jess-I want a laptop so badly....I have two that are crashed!

Ran 2 miles walked 1 on treadmill.....feels good to be back in a routine...holiday craziness makes it so hard. That will be my gift to myself next year - I will not sacrifice my workout time!

Chrissy I promise I will be careful! I will lax off even more tomorrow. I am just tired of feeling lazy. I am also developing quite the habit of being on the internet and I need to find something better to do with my time. (when I have to search for something to search for I am getting myself in trouble)

Time to finally take the tree down--I sure am slow, it is the last of the christmas decorations though.

Debnu1, that's what I have to do tonight too, take the tree down. I got everything else put away yesterday and the snowmen are out. That definitly gave me excercise, lugging all the stuff upstairs (and it's not like anyone helped). They helped when I was putting it up, I guess it's no fun to put it away.

I'm still stuck at work trying to get some reports done. Too hectic during the day to work on them. At least I can't snack!!

Just got done on the treadmill. I did a 20 min workout that is up to 4mph so that would be running speed for me. Then it comes back down after about 6 mins. I then did an additional 10mins of walking at about 3mph. It feels great and I burned. 454calories. not even close to yesterday but I will do Jillian again tomorrow. Now I have my rest time to watch the biggest loser.
  • Looks like everyone is having a better start this week. I think the New Year resolutions must be kicking in.
I didn't do as well today as I have the last few days. I have had a terrible headache with little relief. I was able to sneak in a little exercise at work today before the headache started....just not enough to burn all of the calories I ate.

I am just glad that I logged everything in and checked in with the group. Your posts encourage me to try a little harder even when I don't feel like it.

Debnu - your blog looks good. Thanks for sharing!

I solved the problem of having to take down the Christmas tree this year - I was so busy that I never got it put up! (Actually, I lost it, but that's another story.)

I woke up early this morning, so got up and worked out, as I knew that I couldn't tonight. I had a podiatrist appt. this afternoon, got injections in the neuromas on a foot, and I hope to goodness that it quits hurting by tomorrow so that I can work out then.

I suppose I should get something done so that I can get to bed. Sweet dreams, all!

jess-is that 450 cals by the treadmill or HRM? Way to work hard

took all of our Christmas stuff down Sunday. Nice to have the house back to normal but now it seems so bland!

Mary what's neuromas?? Is it for plantar facitis? My heal is hurting again - I need new horseshoe inserts in my running shoes...the first pair lost their sticky hope to get there this weekend.

I made clam chowder and grilled cheese for supper last night....chowder cooked all day it was yummy but the recipe was not by measurement for a serving it was just 1/4 of recipe....well I doubled the recipe and we got 5 bowls out of it.....serving size is really small for a single batch....I entered 1.5 servings on my log but I was still worried that I had more than I thought so I got inspired watching biggest loser and during the first 6 commercial breaks (breaks were from 3:35 to 4:00 long), I did some exercise...1st-cardio--running in place, 2nd crunches and more crunches 3rd punches 4th leg work (squats, leg lifts) 5th wall squat (held for 4 minutes-ouch) 6th was plank holds...I was burning 20-28 cals per commercial break so that's over 125....felt pretty good about it!

Now only 1.6 pounds away from my pre holiday weight....its coming off really fast.

Wow Chrissy, you are inspiring. I am taking the day off exercise today because I think I need to. I can't wait until I am back to where I was.

My Christmas stuff is almost all put away. Just a few small things left I forgot about. It is amazing how fast it goes down once you get to it. I am a pure procrastinator at heart!!

Mary, good luck with your neuroma--I believe it is just an overgrowth of nerve tissue that starts to get painful. My grandpa had one that he just had surgically removed. He is feeling much better (he's 78 and they eat well and exercise everyday. I would bet that he and my grandma could run circles around me at times. I hope to be like them in my 70's, another reason I am trying to be healthy now!)

I was down a lb this morning :drinker: and Aunt flo decided to pay a visit so I am very impressed! Usually that puts me a couple lbs up!! I am hoping to see 173 really soon and it looks as though I may.

    Have a great day everyone!:flowerforyou:

    MOrnin all

It is so cold here in AL that the company across the street now has an ice sculpture from were they had a pipe burst and freeze over night. I know it is not nice of me to say this but I am enjoying looking at the pretty ice sculpture even tho they had a pipe burst and it will cost them money to fix they are all nice people over there.

Please say a prayer for a lady I work with(kinda) she is having surgery tomorrow on her foot and I am worried about her. Clara is 71 and works up in our corporate office and even thought I have never met her in person I realy like her and she reminds me of my Granny. I hope all goes well for her but she will not be able to come back to work for a month.

:flowerforyou: Good morning!!!! I love reading everyone's posts on here. You guys are a great group, lol! And, it is *so* awesome to see us working at this over the holidays. I remember a time I would just eat and eat and eat ... acting like the holiDAY was months long!!!!

I am trying not to weigh myself till Friday or Saturday morning. I'm working out extra hard this week and only eating around 200-300 of my exercise calories. Monday and Tuesday evening at the Rec Center, I managed to burn a little over 1000 calories!! Woohoo! I planned on doing some simply exercises during the commercials last night while watching Biggest Loser ... but I was completely dead, lol. I even fell asleep before seeing who went home! :frown: I woke up about half an hour later when my boyfriend's cellphone farted. Yeah. Apparently he got a new ringtone. Ugh... boys.

Question - what kind of water bottles to you guys use?? I realized yesterday that the one I've been using for over a year has BPA in it, which has been linked to things like breast cancer, type 2 diabetes and several other health issues. I just threw it away and am heading to a sporting goods store on my lunch break to pick up another bottle.

debnu1- congrats on the weight loss, and after the TOM is over for you, you'll lose even more weight. It happens to me all the time.

lcorrell14- I saw the biggest loser and I was crying all over the place. This season is very powerful and they're saying the contestants are really bigger now. I use a water bottle from klean kanteen, http://www.kleankanteen.com/
or swiss also has another brand here: http://mysigg.com/
I love them, and they are bpa free, and eco-friendly and they come in different colors and graphics.

The scale is playing with me because last week I exercised my butt off and ate very clean, and it's not going down, actually went up. I think it's because I increased my exercise, and maybe because I didn't eat any of my exercise calories. I'm trying not to focus on that, or it will bring me down. This week my exercise has been really good, and I'm eating like maybe half my exercise calories, as I do feel more hungry.
Just to let you all know, the reason why I don't eat my exercise calories in the past is because I am at home all day and am basically not doing anything, so my body is not hungry. I find that when I'm studying for school I do eat more because my brain needs food to think, or when I'm out working or doing errands I also get more hungry and eat.

So my plan for today in terms of exercise is to do Jillian Michaels' banish fat boost metabolism and ab ripper x from p 90x. Jillian kicks my butt every time and doing her dvd is like worst than the gym for me. So, I do prefer the gym than her dvd. It's like a love/hate relationship with her because I do like it that she is tough but hate because she wipes me out.

Have a good day all and let's give it our all!

I thought the BPA is only an issue if the Bottles get hot with the water in them, that is when it leaches out...Anyone know for sure? I have been using a rubbermaid bottle with a straw. I don't know if it is BPA free or not, but I love it.

I think bpa has to do with the bottle leaching. Here's the article from the klean kanteen website: http://www.kleankanteen.com/about/bpa.html

Also, here's an article from the mayo clinic: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/bpa/AN01955

    Question
What is BPA? Should I be worried about it?

    Answer
    from Katherine Zeratsky, R.D., L.D.

Bisphenol A (BPA) is a chemical used in polycarbonate plastic food and beverage containers and in resin linings for cans. Research has shown that BPA can leach into food from these containers and cans. Because BPA appears to cause health problems in animal studies, some scientists are concerned about the risk BPA poses to humans.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says that current levels of exposure to BPA are not an immediate health risk. However, the FDA acknowledges that more research is needed. If you're concerned about potential risk, you can take simple steps to reduce your and your family's exposure to BPA:

    * Choose glass or BPA-free plastic baby bottles.
    * Use glass, porcelain or stainless steel containers for hot foods and liquids.
    * Avoid plastic containers with the No. 7 recycling label — they're made with BPA.
    * Don't microwave polycarbonate plastic food containers. Instead, use glass containers designed for microwaving.
    * Reduce your use of canned foods — many cans are lined with a BPA-containing resin.

I have a Camelbak water bottle. It is BPA Free as well.

It snowed nearly 9.5 inches in England!! We built a huge snowman and have been hanging out outside. If we are off work tomorrow as well (and I think we will be), the plan is to build an igloo. This much snow in england is similar to this much snow in maybe South Carolina. They do not treat the roads at all or plow the roads. I can't tell the difference between the road, sidewalk and grass.

Sounds like everyone is doing well. I'll touch base with you all again soon.
