smoothie recipes?!

I am getting tired of the same breakfast smoothie every day. I need some new options. Please post recipes for your favorite smoothies preferably ones that can be for breakfast rather than dessert.

My normal is
1 banana
1 cup halved strawberries
1 cup light strawberry yogurt
1/2-3/4 cup milk or vanilla soy milk
add ice and blend! sometimes i add protein powder.
I can split it with my mom and sister.

I can see how that would get tiring, boring to always have the same thing!

Just a few of my smoothies (I warn you, some people say they look gross but I think they are fab!)

    GREEN:
    1/2 avocado
    1/2 cup baby spinach
1 cup milk, soy or juice (if juice, use a berry juice, no citrus or apple)
    1 banana

    YELLOW MELLOW:
    1 banana
    2 oranges
    1 cup orange juice
    Ice

    ORANGE:
    1/2 cup baby carrots
    1 cup orange juice
    1 banana
    3/4 cup mango
    Ice (unnecessary, but for texture)

    DIRTY DEEDS:
*this one is more a dessert smoothie, or a pre-workout smoothie
    1/2 cup frozen greek yogurt
    1 banana
    1 cup Milk or soy
    1/2 cup mixed berries

I like to have specific colour days :) Frozen fruit works super well.

I don't really have any recipes, I just throw a bunch of stuff into the mixer and go with it.
usually kale, spinach, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, raspberries, and pineapple.
I never put bananas in them for the calories and because I think the flavor is too overpowering.

And I freeze orange juice from the oranges on my trees in ice cube trays to make for super easy smoothie making.

BUT, I do have a little recommendation that you may all already do, but some of my friends seemed surprised by it.
I always buy berries and other seasonal fruits when they are in season (cheap) and cut/freeze them myself. I know it seems silly,
but frozen fruit can be kind of expensive and I prefer to buy them from the farmer's market so I know where they are coming from.
I do it with the kale and spinach also.

    1/3 frozen banana (sliced)
    scoop protein powder

    My favorite...

    1/3 banana
1 cup frozen mixed fruit (peaches, strawberriess, mangos, pineapples - I buy it in a bag at Aldi)
    1/2 cup milk
    1/2 cup strawberry kiwi juice
    2 spoonfuls vanilla nonfat yogurt

I tend the vary the measurements of the milk and juice depending on my mood. Sometimes I don't include the yogurt.

This. One of the best buy I've made for 2012. So easy to use and very child proof(if you're wondering.) I don't know how people who eat healthy get by without a delicious smoothie to go along with their day.

    This is awesome!

    I make one as well!

    2 bananas
    100g frozen strawberries
    50g frozen blue berries
    Water
    1 carton mori-nori soft tofu
    100g of avacado

Sounds odd but it is yummy and great if you aren't feeling great or anything like that!!

Also; it makes 2 really big portions
  • to me, recipes are just guidelines with a lot of flexibility. I usually have lettuce leaves, one water based fruit like a pear, apple, cantaloupe, and some frozen fruit like raspberries, or frozen grapes or frozen pineapple. You can also use ice if you don't have frozen fruit. Try some of the milder lettuces like spinach and romaine lettuce when starting off. good luck

This is one of my favorites:

    Chocolate Cherry Smoothie
    1/2 cup frozen cherries
    1 cup milk of choice
1 tbs hersheys unsweetened cocoa powder
    Optional:
    Protein Powder

Approx: 255 cals depending on milk & protein powder (I use silk unsweetened vanilla almond milk & sprouts soy protein isolate)

I have never used a recipe for a smoothie. I use banana or yogurt, or both, for a base, add some hemp protein powder or hemp seeds, add whatever fruit we have, or honey if there's no convenient fruit, add milk or hemp milk, or chocolate hemp milk, or sometimes juice or water, until it's drinkable.
