Drink much water ? Starving yourself isn't the best idea, in my opinion anyways0
-
I also find drinking lots of water helps. Also, pickles (or an acidic food like that). They are super low cal and I find that the acidity helps curb the appetite.0
-
I used to drink a ton of water, it seemed the more I drank the hungrier I was.... I have switched to green tea, and it helps a little, but I guess maybe if i do a combination.0

Vegetables, vegetables, and then more vegetables. Volumize your food! One thing I took away from Jenny Craig so many years ago. You can eat your 3/4 cup of pasta and still be hungry, or eat your 3/4 cup of pasta with a cup of cooked broccoli and a cup of cooked cauliflower and not add very many overall calories to your intake, even though you tripled the volume of food you ate.
You can buy a book, or just use your head. Low calorie density foods I think they call them. Basically. Vegetables.0 -

I'd stick with proteins and veg...0 -
Eat more protein. If I drink a ton of water and eat giant salads, I still have a "void" and want to eat more after an hour or so. If I add some protein to every meal, this problem is eliminated. Almonds, egg, chicken, etc. Try it!0

You're not going to like this answer, but nothing will help probably. Just will power, I am fighting that myself. I came home this morning from exercising and overate, i sat down and at 1200 calories.0

I find that the days where I actually get close to my protein goal (which is about 130 g a day), I'm super full all the time. So much so that sometimes I can't even reach my calorie goal (1600). Plus I drink tons of water and eat lots of fruits and veggies. I think it's a combined effect from from all these things.
And if you open your diary, I bet some folks will be willing to give you some more specific advice.0 -

thank you I will I am willing to try anything, It's not a matter of i'm eating all the wrong things, I just can't find that right combination without being hungry, I eat a ton of veggies all day and just seems not full even after dinner with a protein.0

Your stomach doesn't shrink when you eat less. Your stomach can expand to handle a large meal -- up to a certain limit. As food moves on to the small intestine, the stomach goes back to its usual size. When you cut back on your portions, your stomach keeps its normal size even if your appetite isn't as big.0

I felt that way too. I could eat so much that I was stuffed to the point of misery but still feel hungry. What I decided about myself is that I'm hungry all right, but not for food. What I was hungry for was resolution to some of the major issues in my life. I had been eating to try to fill that vacuum.
I decided to establish meal-times and a calorie range. I only eat at those times and within that calorie range. Any other time I give my body water and tell it to wait.
Now I'm trying very hard to face my other issues and solve them directly instead of "eating them".
Give this some thought. Maybe you have a similar problem.0 -
For me, I feel most full if I drink a lot of water to stay hydrated and eat larger portions of protein - and some fat - at each meal. If I get the muchies, I go for veggies. The more consistently I eat protein, the less "snacky" I feel and the easier it is to pass up sweets (and I LOVE sweets). The more carbs I eat - esp the snacky kinds - the more I want and the hungrier I get.
How do you spread out your calories over the day - maybe 3 meals and 2 snacks or 6 small meals might work better for you?
Are you getting enough sleep? I don't recall the science of it off-hand, but without sufficient rest, your hormones can get off balance fueling hunger.
Also, ask yourself if you are truly hungry (like stomach growling/lightheaded) vs. you want to eat something. This is something I struggle with esp. in the evenings. I often think I am still hungry, but it's really in my head (the old habit of always having a treat or snack with the hubby). I have taken to drinking tea or flavored seltzer with lots of ice.0 -
What works for me is setting up my diary to include breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner, and dessert. Those are the only times I eat, regardless of how hungry I feel in between those times. However, after having been on here for three months, I find that I can be content with less food, and generally do not feel true hunger pangs unless one of my meals is delayed. I avoid hi-carb, empty calories like chips or cookies, and I try to make sure that the snacks have a bit of protein. Typically, I eat more protein than what MFP sets up--and I believe this helps. Another thing that you can try (if you are organized) is to plan out and package all or most of your food for the day. That is ALL you allow yourself for the day---regardless of what time of day you choose to eat it.0

eat a meal with rice. rice seems to fill me up the way bread/pasta used to fill me up, but with many fewer calories.0 -
How much do your normally eat every day? You could be eating too little...0
-
I eat lots of frozen veggies. I sautee them with olive oil and big chunks of garlic and I can eat like two cups of it to bulk up the amount of food that I eat without bulking up my caloric intake. Good luck!0

bump. thanks for the great suggestions all... i suffer from this as well.. although much of it for me is stress eating and poor will power!0

Also try a multi-vitamin. When your body is missing vital micro nutrients it will stimulate you to still intake food in an effort to get what it needs. So even if full, you may be malnourished and your beautiful body is letting you know by continuing to 'need' food intake.0

You will learn self control....you really will!
In the meantime, you will learn that you need to nourish yourself adequately, exercise hard, and rest!0 -
Add Cinnamon (1-2 TBS) to Yogurt or Oatmeal, something that sticks to your stomach...the Cinnamon will curb those hunger pains and keep you full longer!!!!0
-
Try eating 2-3 filling meals a day instead of little 5-6 mini meals0

Hope this helps!

I am going to recommend you read this very short document - it shows you how certain foods actually "fill" you up and trigger you to be satisfied while others have the same or more calories and don't give that same satisfaction (I'll give you a hint ...processed, high fat, high calorie foods do not give you the "full" and "satisfied" filling while whole foods (fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, yes and lean meats DO give that sensation and make you "satisfied" at fewer calories)
http://www.veghealth.com/supercharge/Fit_Forever_Ebook.pdf
It has an advertisement at the end...but who cares the first part is the important part. I'm not trying to get you to buy their program or be a vegetarian, I just want you to read about the science part.0 -

I like bubbly water (better than plain water) it tickles my throat. (and the tiny bubbles keep my tummy a little more full between meals.
also, for me: I can't do 'breads/cereals' at breakfast (pancakes, toast, Fruity Pebbles)- or I am STARVING all day!- but I am fine with those foods at lunch or dinner... and I try to get 20-30 grams of protein per meal (plus some in snacks)0 -

It does gain elasticity. Otherwise everyone would be able to eat what eating competition champs eat. They work hard to stretch out their stomachs before competitions.0
