I'm getting a tattoo on my rib cage when that is all svelt and sexy. I don't know what it wwill be, but it will be words of inspiration... not necessarily from weight loss, but just about me being my best, always. Something like "You don't get what you wish for, you get what you work for"
  • I have a Rose on my upper left arm for my son who was killed when he was thirteen. He always brought me a red rose. I want to get another this time when I go down to LA, something typically So Cal.
  • OMG MJBenjamin That's SO Beautiful! I love the colors.

I have "Il vaut mieux faire que dire" which is French and translates loosely as "actions speak louder than words" or literally "it is better to do than to say." It's on the inside of my wrist to serve as a constant reminder to stop talking about and get up and DO IT.

Thanks! The colors on the one I want to cover are similar to this, so it should be a good cover up. If my side looked like this girl's I would put it there instead. Lol!

Ive always liked tattoos, but I find it difficult to think of something I would be happy with down the road.
    Maybe something small and meaningful.

I have a tat picked out for when I pass my black belt test (hopefully in the next year). It is a quote by Morihei Ueshiba in Japanese cursive characters...
"True victory is victory over oneself."

    ^ Awesome
  • <~~ These are my children's names. This was one of my "under 200 pounds" gifts from my husband. When I reached that goal Easter of this year, it had been 25 years since I had been under 200 pounds. Everything I have done - life changing, risking my life to save my life - ALL of it has been for my kids. When I was 400 pounds, my doctor looked at me and said (in reference to my SEVERE sleep apnea), "It's an ABSOLUTE MIRACLE you have not died in your sleep." My kids were 1 and 3. All I could think about was my husband waking up to find me dead...and my sweet babies without a mommy. I didn't get this tattoo in ANY WAY to shame myself, but I do find it a little ironic now that EVERY BITE I take I see their sweet names as I am lifting my hands to my mouth. It keeps it real and reminds me why I have done all I have done, and to continue to make better choices for myself, and for them.
  • I used to think, when I was younger, that my life was the worst life that could be lived. After years of unimaginable abuse by my dad, I finally escaped when I was 16 and got married. I thought that it would be perfect and life would fix itself. One day, as I was getting ready for high school, I hadn't done my homework, and I wanted to get my work clothes washed, I decided to give up. Everything was a mess. I was half-dressed in a dim light, holding a bunch of books. I studied the scars of my childhood on my skin in the mirror. I whispered to the mirror, "this is a disaster. My whole life is a disaster. But for the first time, I have control over it. It's completely MY disaster."

That day, at 16, I got a tattoo that says, "Beautiful disaster". I knew from that moment that I would never have a great life, or a fancy house, or a nice car. But I have complete control over it, no matter how bad it gets.

Love it. Aren't we all "beautiful disasters"? <3

I have the word, δύναμη [thinami], strength in greek, tattooed on the upper left side of my rid cage because my mother passed away from and unknown type of cancer when I was younger and her strength through everything inspired me to life my life to the fullest and pay my happiness forward by helping others reach their goals and find their inner happiness :)

I hope when I have achieved my physical and mental goals to have a tattoo composed of a celtic tree of life (in the centre of my back) and a celtic eagle (wings outstretched between my shoulder blades). Both represent rejuvination and renewal. Have struggled with self esteem and other issues throughout my life but this last year has been by far the hardest. when I am able to feel happy about myself then I will have this done.

I'm getting two. The word INVICTUS behind my ear (invincible) and "3.11" somewhere else, for two reasons. I was in Japan for the March 11th earthquake and it changed my life. The second reason is that 3.11 is 5k, which is what I was working so hard towards running... I will be running my second 5k race on the 27th of this month :)

I'm an inky work in progress: I have what I call my Geeky Arm - tatts representing things that have influenced me, be that bands, books, movies etc (for example I have Rorscach's mirrored 'r' symbol from the Watchmen graphic novel on my wrist, things that only fellow fans would perhaps recognise).

My other arm is for tattoos related to events and my journey. I have a black and grey koi planned for my inner forearm when I hit my goal weight, the picture is pinned next to my bed for motivation (would help to psyche me up first thing, but I'm short sighted so don't usually see it :P). When I hit 19 stone (5 down, aiming for the New Year) I'm getting a symbol from Cancer Bats 'Dead Set On Living' album on my wrist - a simple hour glass with 'DSOL' around it (like the NYHC 'X' symbol if you know what I mean), because that band have pulled me through some tough times, and that album is such an inspiration plus been part of so many exercise sessions.

I've a boatload more that I'm planning and sketching up - including lyrics on my inner upper arms when they're less flabby. I'm choosing spots to remind me daily or to keep private.

One thing I'm doing is for every lb I lose I'm putting £1 in a jar, plus £10 at every stone (14lb), so I should have a good lump sum towards that koi when i get there.

Loving the tattoos you guys have shared.

I just got my second one on Saturday. I have been tracking my food for just at 100 days & told myself when I got to a certain point of tracking I would "reward" myself, so the new ink was my reward. Mine is "Alis Volat Propriis" (she flies with/on her own wings).

I have a small bumble bee on my inner wrist. Aerodynamically, the bee should not be able to fly. It's body is too heavy and it's wings to small, but it flies anyway. My bee reminds me that I CAN do it!

My reward for hitting goal is going to be a big piece incorporating my back and shoulder... 12 Monarch butterflies... Each one signifying 10 pounds of weight loss (only 20 more pounds to go!).

I have a red & black dragon on my thigh - represents my Chinese zodiak sign - fire dragon.
I have peacock feathers on my feet - why? Cuz I like 'em. :)

I have a swamp monster tattooed on my leg. It represents a monster from a swamp. I also have three dice on my arm that read "1-6-6". It represents a jerk idiot tattoo artist who got the angle wrong on the first die.

    LMAO

Not yet but eventually. It'll be mental-health related though, not fitness related.

3.11 - for completing my first 5k in PB time (3.11 miles) and for the tohoku earthquake which happened on 11th of March while I was in Japan studying.

The earthquake was the thing that made me realise I take so much for granted, my entire life, in fact. So I decided to change it all.
