Usually around 8 to 10 times if I worked out that day. I get hungry about every two hours so I find that the small regular meals work better for me.
  • They say it is best to eat every 3 to 4 hours. When you snack, it is best to stick to higher protein foods. Like 10 almonds or
tablespoon of peanut butter. Avoid high sugar or high carbs. I am not an expert but this is what I have read. I would force
yourself to drink lots of water. If you don't like water..... flavor it w/ a very small amount of juice. The main thing is to keep
    your blood sugar even...

2 to 6 a day, depends what you call meals. I adjust based on how I am feeling, if I know I am having a big dinner, I have a very small lunch, more like a snack than a meal. If I'm feeling very hungry, I have a small snack between meals to avoid eating an extra meal.

I always eat dinner, I eat breakfast 95% of the time. I skip lunch a lot, I often eat a mini-meal late at night.

This week I've been skipping some meals, and cutting down on others to create a deficit, since next week I'm eating out twice at fancy restaurant - thats a rare thing and I want to be able to enjoy them

I usually only have what I consider a meal once a day, sometimes twice on the weekends. But the number of times I eat varies considerably. During the work week I typically eat 3-4 times, with the last time being a big meal for dinner and usually consisting of half or more of daily my calories, and the others ranging from 100 - 350 calories.

On the weekend I may only eat twice and then both are pretty decent sized meals, or I may never have a true meal and just snack all day. And occasionally I may eat so much at one meal that it's all I eat all day (usually at a cookout, restaurant or some type of gathering where a variety and plethera of food is served).

    i eat...

    all

    day

    long...

sometimes there's a definitive breakfast, lunch and supper in there, sometimes it's just a day long series of (mostly) healthy snacks.

I eat 5-6 smaller meals a day with breakfast and lunch being the biggest meals (400ish) calories each. and I try my best to space them out 2-3 hours.

I often feel it is one continual meal scattered here and there through the day. I guess I tend to 'graze' .

It depends on the day but usuallyyyyy it works out to be 3 main meals with like 4-6+ random snacks.

My schedule is usually (on weekdays) eat breakfast around 8am, lunch at 11am, sporadic snacking until 5pm, dinner, more snacking and whatnot. It just depends on when I'm hungry though which is why my lunch is so early.

I typically eat breakfast, a mid-morning snack, lunch, an afternoon snack, dinner and an evening snack (typically my biggest calorie expenditure because I am a night snacker). I try to eat just enough to feel full and usually the only time when I go over my "full" point is at night but I try and save enough calories to accommodate that.

depending on how you drink your coffee, that might have a bigger impact than the imaginary difference eating many small meals a day does :)

3 meals and 2 snacks works for me 300 cal. for breakfast 300 cal. for lunch and 500 cal for supper. If I want any snacks I take 2 ...100 cal snack between breakfast and lunch and then between lunch and supper. If I have the snacks I take away cal for my supper. I do a total of 1200 calories a day. It works for me.

I have 3 meals and 4 snacks. A generic day:

    6am Protein shake breakfast
8am 1 cup of cereal (corn chex or similar)
    10am 2 carrots or 2 cups pre-mix salad
    12pm greek yogurt
    2pm apple or 24 almonds
    4pm greek yogurt
6pm 6oz chicken breast, 1 cup steamed veggie

    90oz + water a day
  • I eat 2 meals most days, sometimes only one - not healthy and ideal, I know. As for snacks, maybe one in the early afternoon.

2-3 usually depending on my schedule. Sometimes I skip breakfast, sometimes i eat it. Sometimes I miss lunch or dinner because of work. Good thing it doesn't matter when you eat :) Today I skipped breakfast, ate lunch around 1:30, I will probably eat again in about an hour and then be at work from 4pm- 11am. So maybe a snack when I get off, but not a meal at midnight.

I try to eat something about every 2 1/2 to 3 hours to keep my blood sugar even. This way I don't get too hungry and I feel good. I usually pair something with protein (6 oz. Yoplait light or an egg, for example) with something that has fiber and/or complex carbs (Power seed bread, Nature's Path pumpkin flax granola, or an apple, for example).

I know you will find what works best for you. Some people I know can stick to 3 meals a day, so that's great--for them. Try keeping track how you feel after you eat, how long you were satisfied, and how much time elapsed until you felt you really needed to have something to eat. Once you figure out what you body needs--not what it wants to have--you will have a better idea on how to time your meals.

Actual meals? Three, breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Then I have five-six snacks throughout the day that consist of two veggie snacks, one nut snack (120-130 cal worth), one cheese snack, one greek yogurt snack, and then one possible variable snack depending on my mood, macros, and what I have around.

I have a big breakfast, a small lunch (sandwich, usually), a snack, a decent size dinner, and if I woke up early and am staying up late, another snack. Vegetables ideally go with every meal. This way, I don't stay so hungry after breakfast that I can't wait for the next meal and end up having binge-y behaviors, and I don't go to bed hungry. I just try to make sure I eat when my body wants and stick around my calorie goal, usually this has me eating around every 2-3 hours until dinner. I usually want a snack 4 hours after dinner if I had dinner earlier.

To keep from getting hungry and to keep nice steady blood chemistry, I eat 5-6 times a day. Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack (if I have any calories left).

You can set it up how ever you want.

all that matters is a calorie deficit, or just a calorie budget for maintenance if you are done losing.

I lost 40 lbs doing my own thing and I called it "mini meals" and "mini fasts" because I realized for the first time in my life I was fasting from my last afternoon meal until breakfast the next day. I was really excited and was working patrol with one of my super fit colleagues and I told him my story. He said he lost 30 lbs the same way and told me to look up "Eat Stop Eat" on the web. I trust this guy and he is my friend but I was leery of the ESE book. But my friend who I trust said it was good. I researched reviews and it seemed that even the skeptics ended up saying it was good and backed with very good research. So I decided to get it. You can find similar articles by simply searching the internet for "intermittent fasting" and it just helps you think of ways to setup your calorie budge the way you want that works with your own lifestyle.

When I was in a calorie deficit I stopped at 7pm, then 3 or 5pm, but only because I had enough calories for the day. It really doesn't matter when you stop eating, all that matters is a calorie deficit. But for me I found the longer fast before breakfast helped with the weight loss only because I was eating within a smaller "eating window" which simply helped me keep within calorie budget.

Now that I'm maintaining I've sort of evolved to a different pattern although it wasn't necessarily planed this way, I eat until almost bed time and head right to the gym in the morning before eating, so end up not eating until noon. Again the smaller eating window allows me to more easily stay within my calorie budget for maintenance.

There are studies that show HGH is produced in the body 15-24 hours into a 24 hour fast, as well as heading to the gym and working out with a longer than 4 hour fast. HGH provides many benefits to the body including weight loss (metabolism). Who cares if it's the HGH or the process of keeping within calorie budget, if the thought of HGH motivates you to stick with it makes it work?

    Have fun with the journey.

I don't think it matters how many times you eat per day; I think what matters is what and how much you eat. I eat 1,550 calories, and most days that's broken down into 5-8 mini meal/ snacks, but sometimes I'll end up eating 2-3 bigger meals.
