I bet you are using a smith machine.

That was actually insulting. I wouldn't be caught dead under one of those things...besides, how the hell could you do a proper squat or deadlift using a Smith? I've never seen anyone who went in a perfectly straight line on either lift. The bench and OHP, yeah, I could get away with it, but no, that's not happening...ever.

    That was a test : ).

Third: When (not if) I get injured, I will have to find a way to work around that injury. Obviously, what I will have to do about that is dictated by which body part the injury occurs in.

A "plan" to get injured makes as much sense as claiming that you can't possibly over-train. Better to plan to be safe rather than sorry.

Injuries happen in lifting. If they don't, you aren't lifting hard enough...or you are the most physically awesome specimen to ever grace the Earth, and something tells me that I am not that last one. Hehe.

Taking it easy might work for some, but it pisses me off to no end. :)

You see, this is my issue with your posts. You have no idea as to the background of the OP - in fact, you were not even aware that they were female, as you kept calling them he, yet you have basically called people p*ssies that take rest days because you have not felt the need in your vast experience of lifting. In addition, you go on about power lifting and record breakers. Where did you ever get the impression that the OP wanted to even power lift, let alone do it competitively? You admit yourself that it would not be a big deal to you if you were injured. Well, it is a VERY big deal to a lot of people.

I quote you - "Some people are okay with being relatively weak as piss, and that's fine." I just do not get this all or nothing attitude that you think everyone else should have otherwise they are weak.

You also ignore the part where I said "You live in the body, and you can feel what it's telling you." If my body is telling me "Stop or I will break", my response will be "**** you!" Her response may well be "Okay, I give. We'll try this again later." However, that is for her to decide. Also, what the hell does it matter if she is male or female?

It's simple, muscles need time to grow. Consider the fact that lifting weights, is tearing down your muscle fibers, and resting is rebuilding them to withstand a heavier workload next time. If you never rest, your muscles can never fully repair themselves, so all you're doing is tearing down your muscles and not rebuilding them.

It does not matter whether she is male or female and I am not sure where you got the fact that I thought it did from - my point was you knew so little about her that you did not even realize.

And I do not think you really get the concept of rest days - you rest your cns so you don't have your body telling you that its cr*pping out.

ETA: in addition, if you are doing a full body workout, rest days give your muscles the chance to repair.
