who says you're not perfect?

I know it sounds waaay cheesy but
tonight at the gym, I had already done an hour of cardio
and I was "punishing" myself for having pizza tonight
I was staring at the other girls, wishing I looked like them
and being really mean to myself saying things like
"you'd look like them if you worked out harder.." "maybe you should eat better" "you're never going to look like that."
&& Selena Gomez came on...
It was her song called "who says"
It basically states that you're already "perfect" and not to listen to what others )which I assume includes yourself) say.
So I just wanted to tell you, quit beating yourself up,
quit longing to look like someone else
You are doing a great job,
you are already perfect
I am so proud of you and your efforts in becoming healthy.
I'm not saying, eat all the crap you want
or to stop working out
I'm saying don't beat yourself up on this journey
and realize that even if you didn't lose one pound
you are doing such a great job
you are beautiful/handsome
by trying to change your life for the better.
Feel free to add me if people aren't telling you how great you are often enough.

Nice post!
I'm guessing if you asked anyone who knows me or has ever met me, including me, they'd say I was not perfect. But who is? Who wants to be really? What does "perfect" even mean when it comes to a person?
But I agree that beating yourself up over <whatever> is rarely helpful. Sure, we all have a "WTH did you do (or not do) that!?" moment now and then. But it's best to just learn from it and move on because you can't undo what's been done.0 -

Seriously though...I read a lot of self-degradation around here, much of it from women that are just perfectly attractive from where I'm sitting.0

Great post! I love this! I have to continually remind myself that it's about progress, not perfection.
Thanks for posting this!0 -
I'm on here because too many people said "you're fine as you are" and it was too easy to keep on as I was going.
If I anything, I need more people to keep on pointing out I need to keep going, rather than people generally saying "when are you going to stop and start eating again?" and the like .0 -

If I were already perfect, I'd have nothing to aspire to. I could just give up right now.
I'd rather push myself.0 -
OP - Thanks for sharing this. :flowerforyou:
I love, love, LOVE that song! I have it on my workout playlist. Great message, and a great beat, too. :bigsmile:0 -
Never say you're punishing yourself for eating too much. That's a terrible mindset to have. Say you're just "burning off the excess calories to stay within your goals."
Edit: Typo!0 -

Thank you! I needed this. I've been beating myself up a little too harshly lately. Working on changing that, so this was really well-timed. :flowerforyou:0

Why would you punish yourself for eating pizza? Did you eat two whole large pizza by yourself or what?0
