I kind of want to know this, too...
I'm currently running between 4-5 miles 3-4x per week. I just started running in May after not running since middle school. At first it was very difficult to do, but I liked the changes that I saw happening with my body, so I stuck with it. I think I'm addicted now, because I get crabby if I don't get my runs in and I like the solitude to think about life...
How much different does the 'high' feel?
I know I am addicted and I think that is the high everyone is talking about- its the feeling of wanting to do another run, its not an actual stoned type of high but just a good feeling that comes from doing something good for yourself!0 -
Mine usually hits about mile 2 but a fantastic playlist must be involved. If I am not feeling my music the "high" doesn't occur. That is just me though. I consider running my therapy. I get all cranky when I can't get a good run in. :sad:0

I guess I do not experience runners high as early as most people - I usually feel something like runners high when I am in "good" condition after about mile 12.0

Sometimes I get it and sometimes I don't. I've gotten it at 1.5 miles, 3 miles and sometimes 10 minutes after I'm done running. I don't know if there's any way to get the endorphins consistently.0

That's the high for many! You begin to love it and crave it. I always feel great after my runs and have a sense of accomplishment!0 -
I usually get it after about 20-30 minutes. The only way I can describe it is PURE BLISS. It works better than any pain pill I've ever taken and I thank GOD when I get it. I have a lot of aches and pains and when it kicks in, I feel like Wonder Woman. No more foot pain, knee pain is gone, my mood is better, I feel like I can run forever and never get out of breath. I'm addicted to it and wish I had it more often.0

I've run marathons, 1/2 marathons, 10Ks etc... I usually get a runner's high after I've been working out consistently for a few days. And I feel it AFTER the run, never during. I LOVE my runs and the endorphin rush after!0

On today's run... it was at 4 miles. It's usually after that point where you feel like you're dog tired and can't run another step. You either dig deeper, walk, or stop. When you make the choice to dig deeper and keep going, before you know it, you 're like... This is awesome. I am awesome. My breathing is steady. My HR finally found a place to steady itself. I'm pretty sure I could run forever. I can't believe I questioned whether or not I wanted to run today. Yes, I talk to myself a lot when I run.... Haha0

I usually get a runner's high around mile 3, once I hit this point I feel like Forest Gump.0
