I haven't found it to be true in my case, but then I'm constantly drinking water from the time I get up until I go to bed, so perhaps I'm so well hydrated that my hunger pangs are always actual hunger. I don't know. I'm just theorizing.

Water does not fill me up, so no amount of water that I drink before a meal makes me eat less. I can be stuffed to the gills and unable to eat another bite of actual food and still chug down a glass of water. Is that normal?

Yes, true. Maybe I shouldn't but I count all beverages that do not contain caffeine. So some diet sodas count. Others do not.

I don't know if that it is true. But water will fill your stomach and make it think that it has had something to eat but I can tell if I'm thirsty or if I'm hungry.
This. I have no problem telling if I'm hungry or thirsty...I've never understood this idea.
Otherwise, I'd be reaching for a sandwich when I'm really thirsty. That doesn't happen for me.
