Did anyone see the segment on DR OZ where he talked about the "additive's" in the spray butter? He said its now been linked to Dementia and Alzehiemers! Even memory loss of those who do not have Dementia etc..... He said you are better off using REAL butter or Coconut Oil. I have recently tried both and LOVE THEM! You forget how good real old fashion stick butter tastes. Yes you have to use more calories but the real stuff has such flavor, a little bit goes a long way! The coconut oil comes in a jar or tub like crisco so you can cook with it and it doesnt smoke when hot, like EVOO. You can spread a small portion (1 tsp) on toast for a great flavor. It does NOT taste coconutty!!! He also said Coconut Oil helps reduce belly fat!! Just wanted to share!

What sort of research did LoLOz bring to the table to show the links to various horrible diseases?
Coconut oil reduces belly fat regardless of the rest of your dietary intake?0 -

Dr. Oz is a quack. Do some research:
http://www.randi.org/site/jref-news/1260-pigasus-2011The Media Pigasus Award goes to Dr. Mehmet Oz, who has done such a disservice to his TV viewers by promoting quack medical practices that he is now the first person to win a Pigasus two years in a row. Dr. Oz is a Harvard-educated cardiac physician who, through his syndicated TV show, has promoted faith healing, "energy medicine," and other quack theories that have no scientific basis. Oz has appeared on ABC News to give legitimacy to the claims of Brazilian faith healer “John of God,” who uses old carnival tricks to take money from the seriously ill. He's hosted Ayurvedic guru Yogi Cameron on his show to promote nonsense "tongue examination" as a way of diagnosing health problems. This year, he really went off the deep end. In March 2011, Dr. Oz endorsed "psychic" huckster and past Pigasus winner John Edward, who pretends to talk to dead people. Oz even suggested that bereaved families should visit psychic mediums to receive (faked) messages from their dead relatives as a form of grief counseling.0 -

If you talk on your cell phone too much or use the microwave too often you're going to get radiation poisoning0

I don't really care about Dr. Oz, but this information is correct. Diet butter spreads/sprays are made up of preservatives and chemicals and they aren't healthy at all. You're much better off just using real butter, but using a little less of it.0

I can't believe it's not science.0

At this point Oz could say the sky was blue and I'd hesitate to believe him. I agree that fake stuff is best avoided though.0

Thank You good to know that.0

This goes for ANYTHING fat free/reduced fat/artificial. This isn't really news.. lol It's always better to eat the real deal, it's just a matter of portion control. Many people still stick to the artificial stuff, though.. just how it is.0

Thanks for putting this at the beginning so I knew to stop reading.:flowerforyou:0 -
I take what I see on Dr. Oz and research it if it sounds like something I am interested in following.
For what it's worth, I use real butter sometimes, I Can't believe it's not Butter spray sometimes and coconut oil sometimes. I did not know about coconut oil before seeing it on his show so I did learn about sometihing thru him.. I have the virgin, unprocessed kind. I also never used real butter before watching his show. So he has expanded my horizons! But I don't follow him blindly. *wink*0 -

All I can say is OMG. That is so wrong of him to do that to people. Many will blindly waste what little money they have doing this crap.0 -
Thank you for this valuable information!! Ignore the haters0

fake butter = :devil:0

I assume you are referring to Diacetyl which occurs naturally in beer and wine as well as some dairy by way of the fermentation process.
While there is conjecture, there are no studies that this causes issues linked to Alzheimer's and the only safety issue is with regard to people who work in places that manufacture it due to the large dosages.0 -
