I met my caloric needs of 1300 calories with two protein shakes with 2% milk, 5 egg whites in a wheat wrap with lettuce and ketchup, and 3 cans of tuna no mayo but i'm just starving at night..
1300 calories does not meet your caloric needs. Maybe that's your caloric needs for breakfast. Now have some lunch and some dinner. Repeat tomorrow and the next day, and the next day. Grow some balls and some brains and feed yourself son.0 -
I think you need to consult a doctor or a nutritionist, stat.0

What do you all do when you're dieing on the inside physically rumbling but you know you can't eat yet or you've already met your daily caloric needs?
It doesn't seem fair to have to eat less and feel a little hunger. It's hard to face the truth of it, very hard. It's not fun. It's drudgery at times. But if you learn to enjoy your smaller amounts of food (necessary to lose weight, since the reason we got fat in the first place was eating too much whether we knew it or not), and rejoice in your victories it can be done.
Being on a calorie deficit is hard. You can't do this journey on will power alone. You must set up your environment for success. Have a team around you in your real life, not just online. Get trigger foods out of the house. It will take some sacrifice and it's not easy. You might have to say no to some social events sometimes.
Too many changes at once can be hard on some people. I've always eaten healthy so it easy for me to simply eat less. Eating at a calorie deficit is hard on people; even a small deficit puts your body in a state of flux with hormones and such. Everyone is different. Some people can handle a deeper calorie deficit than others, this is not right or wrong, it just is. Stress in your life affects your hunger hormones; lack of sleep, fatigue, job stress, family stress, financial stress, etc. Add in emotional eating issues and it gets even more complicated. Most people can only handle so much change/stress at once, they try to do too much and fail. Sometimes it might be a better strategy to eat at maintenance and make some small changes first, it really depends on how much stress you are taking in at the moment.
for me it's all about a calorie budget. I had less of a budget available when I was losing weight, more to spend now that I'm maintaining and all the tools I used for weight loss come into play for the rest of my life maintaining.
When you have accumulated excess fat, you have accumulated a debt. It is hard to pay off the debt (you have less calories to spend). If you are sitting next to someone your same gender and height and they are not overweight and you are, they get to eat more than you (have more calories to spend) because they are debt free. You have less calories to spend because you are paying off your debt.
I am debt free and I never want to go into debt ever again. The process is hard, and maintaining takes effort as well. Every thing you do now to learn to deal with the hardship of getting fit come into play for staying fit. Here is something someone just sent me to read, I haven't read the whole thing but it looks good already and it might keep your mind off the hunger and focused on something to help you keep your eye on your prize and that the feeling of hunger will not kill you, you will not die, really and truly (even though it's not fun) --> http://www.leangains.com/2010/10/top-ten-fasting-myths-debunked.html
Sorry I know you are very fit but you can't be serious about a young man eating like bird! That is just wrong.0 -
I just looked at your profile... you are exactly my husband's height. He is just below your goal weight and he is SUPER thin... he would LOVE to be at your starting weight. I know everyone's built differently, but seriously??? Your goal weight for you height is rather questionable...
I think you need to take a step back and figure out what is actually going on here.0 -
My experience, and the insight I have gained from my friends on here who have been successful at losing, transitioning to maintenance, and maintaining without regaining, is that you should never be eating so little that you're consistently hungry. It doesn't work. Cut down your deficit so that you are comfortable most of the time. Of course there will be exceptions, occasional days or a couple days strung together where you're extra hungry, but for the most part, you shouldn't be.
Try a 500 calorie deficit instead of 1000. What's the point of losing weight fast if you can't keep it off anyway? Namsayin?0 -
pickles have 0 calories, drink water, drink a diet soda, eat raw cabbage it fills you up with the fewest cals- ofcourse I'd recommend eating more cals but im sure you've heard that already. try n spread your meals out some more too0

I'm 5-7, 51 year old male and went on a 1400 cal/day at 200 lbs. to lose 30 lbs. in 3 months.
You MUST be hungry. I still lose at 2000 cals/day and I work in an office. I do work out and have an active life and I'm still hungry some days eating 2400.0 -
To the OP eat something please. I'm 5' 3" 149 pounds and never eat under 1600 cals a day.0

Oh my goodness I bet that doesn't even meet your BMR. Please take a moment and check out the group Eat More to weigh less. You don't need to starve to lose. It starts a cycle of yo-young without permanent results.0

I'm sorry did I miss something in that article? Whats so bad about it? If you go by what the article says she would not be implying that the OP eat less since he is in great shape already she would if anything be implying that since he is "debt free" to eat MORE. Right?0 -
Eat. Seriously, a guy your size can eat more than 1800 a day. I am a 130lb female and I eat more than that and don't gain. Take a look at what you are eating, you are most likely under-counting or eating too much junk.0
-
read message boards about how other ppl are hungry and drink water till lunch time. THEN.. adjust your food choices to prevent serious hunger between meals for the rest of the day and tomorrow and so on. o wait, that's me.0

Try eating more meals a day with the meals being smaller... and also healthier meals. Make sure the meals consist of something that is high in protein and low in calories if you are lifting. As the person said before me... you will feel hungry, but it shouldn't be so severe that you might binge on your next meal. And 1300 is too low, especially if you are lifting/doing cardio. You can up your calories to 2000 a day and still lose weight.0

I don't listen to any of her posts at all anymore
She just copies and pastes that whole thing on every post
I have noticed.
She's dangerous, people actually buy this crap.

Why the haterade just because she copy and pasted something? Doesn't make it any less valid.

this is the part that bothers me. I didn't read the article. She's telling him to suck it up basically. When clearly he shouldn't be only eating 1300 calories a day.0
