Hello! Newbie looking for guidance

Hello, I am a newbie here. Making a fresh start. Have lost and gained weight so many times. Hoping to make a permanent lifestyle change now. I have probably done every diet and crash diet thinkable. I'm motivated to do things right now. This is my day 2 of Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. I've done the video before. I feel so out of shape because I used to be able to do it in its entirety with minimal or no stopping. But now, whew! It's killer but I'm going to take it one day at a time. I just want to be CONSISTENT! Is 30 days straight really doable? I thought the body needed at least one day a week of rest? Anyhow, I'm still trying to work on my eating. I am tracking but it seems like my calorie intake is still too much. Any suggestions as to what I can do as far as diet? I am trying to consume 5-6 small meals per day. I need a better guideline as far as what to eat? I usually do carb and protein for breakfast (3 egg whites and a whole wheat English muffin), I try to incorporate fruits and veggies, yogurt, and lean meat. I need variety! I get bored with the same ole same ole. And feedback and dietary suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
