While others are obsessing about their strategy for the upcoming holidays - do I log? do I eat in moderation? do I treat it as any other dinner? I'm am worried about the opposite - AM I GOING TO BE ABLE TO EAT AS MUCH AS I WANT TO??? I don't know, my belly has shrunk some! I want it all!!! Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes floating like fluffy little white clouds in gravy and butter. Rolls with more butter and pie overloaded with whipped cream. Let's not forget wine and eggnog. I'm seriously planning to eat like 3000 calories!!!!!!!!!!!! For me Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are a no log holiday!! It's 3 days! It's what you do with the other 362 days that counts. Who's with me?? Let's Enjoy :drinker:

    3000 calories? That's it?

If I don't eat twice that amount, I failed Thanksgiving.

if i was your age i would eat 3000 calories during the holidays too and not a single f$%k would be given... but since i am not your age i plan on taking everything in moderation and will be in the gym for my normal 2 hour workout the day after thanksgiving and Christmas and new years...

Just little bites of everything. I eat slightly lower a few days before and a few days after. ENJOY, you can have everything you want, just not all at once. I say that every day, not just during the holidays. We are meant to enjoy food. :) We are meant to have feast days (just not every day!).

I decided to up my calories to my TDEE over the course of the next two months so that I can relax and enjoy. I won't be logging on Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's at all. There comes a point where it really is a life-style change, and I, like you, am there. Eating too much for a couple of days a year isn't going to kill me, and might make me appreciate my lighter days a bit more.

I totally agree with you there. I am looking forward to Christmas and I will log everything I eat and burn too.

Christmas Day doesn't count. They're the official rules.

Starting a week before hand eat a bit cleaner, drink less alcohol and much more water. With proper hydration, your body will be able to handle the extra sodium. I don't plan on counting it, either!

I am cooking and eating no different than I normally do with the exception of a nut crust sweet potato pie.

My eating will be no different than it normally is.

Once again you are the voice of reason and I am so happy we found each other on MFP! It's a life and a lifestyle! I can't punish myself and hate life for the next 50-60 years :) My work Thanksgiving, fake thanksgiving (friends), family thanksgiving, Christmas, and leftovers don't count! I'm eating and enjoying :) Hugs!!! I'll log 3,000 with you and smile about it!

ETA: I'm logging it ALL just so that all you doomsdayer's can see that one can eat during the holidays and still maintain. On top of the holidays, it's my birthday. And, guess what? I'm doing what I want...

I will join in on enjoying the holiday... However, I am going to try to log the best I can, even if it's adding the quick calories of some outrageous amount!

Me too! I still eat quite a bit but also much less than I used to.

I start reading articles like this to get ready: http://www.gourmet.com/food/gourmetlive/2011/111611/competitive-eaters-guide-to-thanksgiving-overeating

We have a simple meal for Christmas but Thanksgiving is a week-long food fest ending with my birthday. I'll be taking about 11 days off from logging but still working out and eating a ton of tasty food.
