what about tuna? that is high in protein right? maybe I should eat that prior to my workout?

Why would you eat BEFORE your workout? This confuses me. Eat AFTER!
Is this a joke? Let me guess, you believe training with no food in your stomach, allows you to burn more fat.

    The joke is on you.

Yeah, I don't think so. Eating before a workout is causing her PAIN, this is why I suggested to eat after. Fuel for a workout an hour or so in advance, not right before. Wow, people are so touchy on here!
No one is touchy on here. Problem is all the nonsense that is floated around the boards. My job is to help people see through the BS.

As I stated before, INDIGESTION aside. There is no benefit in weight loss with training on an "empty" stomach.

The real question is why are you doing Jillian Michaels. You know she used to be really fat right?

    so what? so was I....

I'm just saying I doubt she knows what she is doing.

 you're not serious. Please tell me you're not serious. And if you are  ?? Really? Just because someone was fat and now they're fit means that they "don't know what they're doing"? That's laughable, seeing as there are personal trainers our there who are fit and know nothing about what they're doing or teaching.
I am sure she followed someone elses program, not hers.

And you what? Wrote her biography and know everything about her and her past?

Sooo she wrote her program and then she lost weight to it? Is that what you are saying? She just wrote a program and said "Hey this will make me lose weight", then tried it and all of a sudden she was skinny? I wish life worked that way.

Seriously, what is your beef with her besides the fact that she's probably a multi-millionaire from the DVD's she has produced and she sells? Oh and being a part of The Biggest Loser.

So what if she didn't write her program to make her lose weight. Big friggen deal! I highly doubt that a lot of the people out there who are successful and selling their DVD's wrote their first programs either. What's the big deal, other then a little jealousy over the fact that she's profiting from what she does?

I'd love to be able to make work out DVD's and sell them. I think that'd be a lot of fun.
She probably did use someone else's program.

Mind you, at least one of her products have been proven to be a scam.

    OW! MY SPLEEN!

Does yours hurt too??? Did you drink chocolate milk? I also just heard it has blood in it!
  • Try drinking the chocolate milk AFTER your workout instead.

If you continue to have stomach pains after drinking the milk - see a doctor. You might be lactose intolerant. The amount of protein in chocolate milk is not going to do anything to your liver. You'd have to consume a ridiculous amount of protein for that to happen and unless you are drinking protein shakes for every meal, that probably should not be a problem.

Not my liver...I distroyed that with alcohol. I'm concerned about my spleen.

Yours too? I knew we were sisters from another mister.

Before a workout I will eat a 90 calorie granola bar or a banana 1/2 hr - 1 hr BEFORE my workout. After the workout THEN drink chocolate milk with an apple and peanut butter (that is just my fav snack right now but other similar snacks will work). I would never have milk or any dairy before a workout because I know it would mess my stomach up.

I Drink fat free Trumoo chocolate milk AFTER my workouts. Seems to help but I only have 1 glass. I don't want to waste too many of my daily calories on drinks. I usually don't eat anything at all at least an hour before a workout. I try to have a carb, snack before so I get energy but I have to wait a little or else I will feel sick! Try eating after and see if that helps. Good luck!

First of all the spleen/protein theory is totally wrong. People with kidney problems need to watch their protein. And second the amount of protein in milk is not even close to being problematic. Unless this is a little known disease and all you people that are lactose intolerant better watch your spleens.

I recently started doing 30 DS. Not seeing much progress, I thought maybe I needed to get more protein. So I began chugging chocolate milk just before doing to video (I heard it helps with muscle recovery). each time I have done this I have had to stop due to horrible pains I develop...usually in my lower abdomen. Sometimes they are relieved after a uhhhhhh, trip to the bathroom. My friend thinks it is my spleen and I could have possibly damaged it with the extra protein intake. Anyone else dealing with this?

I think it's your medulla oblongata, check that.

reminds me of a Jillian michael youtube channel (daily dose). she doesn't by into the whole chocolate milk for recovery and IF i remember correctly pretty much believes people deserve (lack of a better word) to gain or what not from consuming chocolate milk because it's filled with sugar and isn't healthy. youtube it and you'll be able to find it

OK, as much as I like JM's dvd's - she knows nothing about nutrition.....She is not a nutritionist, she is a trainer - who really can't prove a simple thing like chocolate milk as a recovery drink wrong - especially after selling all kinds of crap like fatburners and protein shakes.....
I deserve my chololate milk after running 10kms....Maybe just a small one after 30 ds, but either way, it's a proven good recovery drink......

Yeah, I don't think it's the protein or her spleen. I think it's indigestion.

Drink WHILE doing the video. Wear one of those beer hats and strap that bad boy with some trumoo!
