i had trouble with the site even loading today, but then got a message that they were performing manintenance on it. and don't worry deb....i cant spell either....lol
Ladies, heres a question for you all....what changes have you noticed, that you didn't expect when you started eating better (aside from the obvious)?
For me, my nails are actually growing, I never, never have had nice long nails....unless you cound the 15 years I had fake gel ones on (which I don't). guess it's true that you are what you eat.
Pinot, your not crazy looking for a transititon to 10K. I am still working to running the 5K no problem, but am looking toward entering a half marathon (13 miles) in October. i figure i have all summer to get there.0 -
I was looking up 1/2 marathon training too. I would like to run 5K in April, 10K in June/July and the Detroit 1/2 marathon in Oct. The training for the 1/2 marathon in is 12 weeks. I guess I'll have to start training for that in July - it actually looks pretty doable since most training days are 3 to 5 mile runs.
UPS just left a package. Oh - I think my batteries just got here so I can try out the old polar HRM that I found around the house. I think I bought it several years ago but never used it - then forgot I had it when I bought the Woot special. I love being blond - it's my excuse for all my goof-ups. I had to order 2032 cell batteries - I was too lazy to drive 20 miles to the store. I can't wait to compare the polar to the Woot HRM. I'll keep you posted. I'm off to play and maybe finally do my ex for the day. I knew there was a reason I've been putting it off.0 -
Afternoon gals! We ended up getting about 9 inches of snow over the course of yesterday and last night. I worked from home in the morning, but am at one of the clinics this afternoon as my potential patient actually showed up!
I think I'm going to try and get an exercise dvd in today before my final c25k run of the week tomorrow (25 min. eek!). Pinbot, I don't think you're crazy for going for the 10K. I would love to do that also! First I need to finish the first 5K program, PLUS, I would then like to work on actually getting up to the distance, as right now I'm doing it by time, and I know I am not running fast enough to do it by distance they say in that time. I'd love to continue getting faster and going farther and work my way up. A half marathon would be INCREDIBLE. I don't think I'd be ready for the Detroit one this fall (but who knows?), but maybe next year!
I am still a but crankypants due to TOM issues and I'm pissed that final weigh-in falls on this week because of it. Well, at least, i SHOULD have a nice loss the first week of "fling into spring"! I was up 2 pounds from my lowest this past weekend (under the 3 I was yesterday morning), but I also didn't weigh myself until later in the day. I made some baked ziti last night, which was delicious, but probably didn't help the scale. I threw in a bag of spinach into it, so justified it that I was eating more healthy and I had the extra calories for the day... that is until it devolved into a peanut butter and chocolate chip munchfest later in the evening, tipping me over my calories for the day. damn period. :grumble: The one bright thing in this is that I should be done with it by the time for my mini-break this weekend (unfortunately not any place warm- just Cincinnati to visit a friend. will be nice to see her though!). Eating probably won't be the best either. Oh well! I'm in it for the long haul.
Happy hump dayeveryone!

thanks for all the links ladies!! will definitely have to play around with that some! Tonight I am going over to the bff's house to play Just Dance again. Either I'm not working as hard, my hrm isn't catching all my heart beats or I've lost weight/am getting used to working out...cause I've only been burning about 700-800 cals/hour on the elliptical this week when I was burning about 1000 (in an hour).
Tomorrow is Zumba! This will be my first week working out 4 times in a while. :-) oh how I've missed zumba0 -
Thought I'd say a quick Hello...We got about the same amount of snow as you AKA...I have been shoveling my little hinney off...I should just wait until it stops blowing..but our driveway gets horrible if you don't stay on top of it.
Pinbot, I have the same goals as you with the running, actually there is an 8K in March that I was thinking about if the weather takes a turn and I could get outside in March (it's at the end of March) then there is a 5K in May and a 1/2 In November here in my hometown...we can encourage each other to log those miles!
AKA...my weakness this week....oatmeal cookies with butterscotch chips in them...I only used half the package of butterscotch chips thinking that would help...but nothing helps when you have one every itme you walk in the kitchen:blushing: , I have been spotting all this week and heck I don't know what next week will bring when I am actually suppose to have my period??? Crazy...I'll just hold my breath until Friday...and amp up for the next challenge....I was really wanting to lose another pound so I could say that I at least lost half of my goal....:ohwell:
CDS, I have noticed my nails too, I thought maybe it was just because that is one of my rewards for exercising, I have been buying a new nail polish every so many weeks and taking the time to actually polish them, but my skin and hair have been better too, not as dry...I think the extra fish I'm eating must be helping.
We're suppose to play a family game, so I'm finished logging for the day...just have to stay away from the cookies...have a great night!0 -
cds, one thing that i've noticed is my skin is clearer. i get the occassional breakout, especially right before my period, but haven't been getting as much. I think it could mostly be due to fact that i'm drinking tons of water these days.
deb, oatmeal w/ butterscotch? let me catch my drool as it spills onto my desk. Those sound AMAZING.
I just ate way more ziti than I needed, though I'm pretty much still in my range for the day, as I got up late, and so am at 2 meals for today instead of the normal 3. Now I can't move though, so am unsure of what dvd to do. Hrm. Maybe after I'm finished digesting i'll be up for more jumping around.0 -
Thank you all for the warm welcome! I've been reading your posts for a while and I like how supportive you all are to each other.
cds - I have noticed that I am not as sick as I used to be. Wow, I used to get really sick a lot! I am so glad I am on the way to a healthier life!0 -
Good morning ladies. I was kinda bummed last night when the UPS package turned out to be the baby shower gift not the batteries. The batteries were due in yesterday but as my luck would have it the snow plow took out my mail box in the afternoon. So the postman didn't leave me any regular mail:sad: I put the box back up but the post is broken - who knows when it will get fixed. I hope it holds today. I may have to stop in and make alternative mail delivery plans. Rural living can be such fun. My weekly check-in day was today with no good news. Up a 1/2 pound. My horrible eating this last week caught up to me. It's my own fault, I raised the food to my mouth. Time to get back on track. I am thinking of trying another week of no meat from Sat to Fri. Maybe it will shake my metabolism up a bit. I am hoping for better luck with tomorrow's weigh-in.
cd - now that I think about it, my nails are growing better. My skin is clearer. And I haven't been sick (said with finger crossed). Thanks for getting me to think about it. I also am having less pain in my knees and back. My biggest shock is how my clothes actually fit now. I think that I'd been living in a state of denial on how big I'd gotten. Yesterday, I pulled out a top and it was soooo big, I thought I can't wear this. It was a 2x - can you say garage sale pile!!! I refuse to keep those big clothes - I am NOT going back there.
Well gonna run and get some time on the treadmill. I have a 9:00 client and today is my late day so I won't have any other time to do it.0 -
dropping in on this cold thursday morning; I got my tattoo's yesterday!! hoo hoo!!& guess what else I got,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, MY STATIONARY BIKE!!! yay! I am soo excited, I only didi 5 minutes on it last night, cause it was late, but I am soo amped to go hoome & sweat my booty off!! Hpw is everyone? I don't have time to read the posts til I get home, but welcome to the new folks& I'oll read all posts when I get home0
-
Nikki-yay for getting a bike! i hope it'll help motivate you to get some more exercise in! exciting!
pinbot- several of my shirts are too big on me now. funny story... last summer I went through my closet and put a bunch of stuff in bags to take to the salvation army either because I just didn't like it anymore or it was too small. The bags have just been sitting in my car. I now have another bag of clothes that are too BIG which I'm taking. I really need to actually drop the stuff off now. I'm never going back to those big clothes. I feel now that I need to go through the original bags again to see if there's anything in there I can now fit in that I actually would want to keep. Then again, the best part about losing weight is getting to buy new clothes! I really want to go shopping, but I'm telling myself I'll treat myself once I'm under 200. It'll be my present to myself. You're so close to under 200, sweetie! You're going to bust through that mark in "fling into spring"!
Today should be a pretty slow day at work. No potential peeps coming in until this afternoon, but it has potential to be a fruitful recruitment day. Then, I'll head to the rec center after work for day 3 of week 6 of c25k. I'll plan on hopping on the stationary bike afterwards, as it is last chance workout... even more so as it's the end of the challenge. I know I'll be up this week, mostly due to TOM issues partially due to not fantastic eating this week. It should make the losing 10 pounds easier next challenge, as a couple of them should pretty much drop right off next week. :ohwell:0 -
i love the fling into spring idea! tomorrow's our final weigh in, and even if i haven't met my 10 pound goal, i am still reeling in the job that is being out of the teens. hopefully i am still there tomorrow, but we'll see. after all, i didn't put the weight on in four months.
anyhow, just wanted to say good morning. looking forward to being on the tready today.
Glad everyone is noticing other benefits of eating better too. my nails are better, my skin is getting crappier...more zits than usual, but ohh well....and yes, just generally feeling better....less tummy aches, and colds.0 -
I just ate a cupcake. It was DELICIOUS. BUT... I stopped at one, and have had 2 pieces of fruit and lots of veggies today (and will for dinner as well). Plan to exercise it off tonight, but oh, that sugar totally hit the spot. Trying not to feel guilty about it.
this was really mostly just a way to "bump" the thread, but thought I would include something. haha. Enrolled another patient today in my study. YES! :bigsmile:0 -
Good luck tonight Kristina - you can do it. You will burn enough that the cupcake won't matter.
Nikki - the bike sounds great. Pedal away.
One downside of this lifestyle is that the plantar wart (gross) on my left foot is bothering me. I have an appt to see the doc tomorrow. I have talked to 2 people that haven't had luck getting rid of them. (*sigh*) We shall see what the professional says. I'm open to suggestions. I tried compound W to no avail
Today, I saw 3 people that have known me for awhile but none noticed my weight loss. I was kinda bummed. Since they are all former clients and now "new" clients, I am going with the theory they are too absorbed in their own woes to notice me. When it rains it pours for new clients. Now my caseload is pretty full. I start at 7:45 am tomorrow :noway: There goes the morning workout. I really was getting into the start your day at 10...
I just got a new cookbook by JoAnn Lund for slow cooker recipes. They look good and seem to be pretty easy. I live by the slow cooker when my caseload picks up. I'm off to cook dinner. DH just called and is on his way home so I have an hour. I cooked up wheat berries the other day and plan to make a Waldorf salad. I'll let you know how it turns out. I plan to throw stuff in the slow cooker for tomorrow too. Have a great night.0 -

Pinbot, do they now sell something that freezes the warts off...I'm sorry I don't know the name of it, but seems like I heard about it last year....you can buy it over the counter now.
About your clients....I bet they noticed, it's just that some people worry about how the other person is going to take it....as a compliment...or as "what ...you thought I was fat before"? I bet they bring it up as the get more relaxed around you.... I'm a little worried about you starting earlier too....there have been lots of mornings that I have got up and got moving after reading what you have done!! Oh my...this will be an adjustment! Good luck with your new schedule and very smart of you to get that crock pot going, I made a 15 bean soup tonight and it was yummy! I wish I wouldn't of made extra rolls though, I had three of them...probably not the best before weigh in:ohwell:
:ohwell:
Good luck everyone on weigh ins tomorrow.....0 -
