    I love beets. We are roasting beets for a salad with the beet tops and other greens, goat cheese, pecans, etc. as a light lunch before Thanksgiving dinner festivities.

    If my kids are shopping with me and see beets with the greens attached they force me to get them to make borscht. Its a messy job but sooooooo good. At Costco I just discovered borscht made by the 2 ladies that have a tv show Janet and Greta and its 100 calories for a cup- its pretty good. I just add a bit more vinegar and lots of black pepper. Yum! Even a beet hater can't say it tastes like dirt!:angry:

    The Big R store locally has pickled baby beets that to me is like candy. I can eat a whole jar in one sitting if I'd let myself.

    Beets are of the devil. That's why they're red.


    (Yes, I have had canned, fresh, straight from the garden, roasted, pickled, baked...all amid much protest and threats of losing TV time/being grounded. Haven't had a beet in well over 20 years and I'm okay with that!)

    ^^^This...except I have tried them fresh. Tasted like dirt to me. Seriously. There are very few foods that LITERALLY make me gag. I took one bite and hurled in the kitchen sink. :sick: :noway:
